Come to think of it, she may have been the one on his first day that told him not to hold back and rely on her as much as he wanted. That was why she would impatiently grab Tatsumi’s white cane as he tried to find his way around.
—No, not over there, over here!
She would yell loudly all of sudden near his ear, and pull his white cane. A white cane was like a subst.i.tute for his eyes, and sometimes was used like another leg. If someone were to grab it without warning, he could lose his balance. That’s why instead of asking someone to hold his hand to show him the way, he would ask for their arm. That way was much more stable for him. Being blind made even losing his balance terrifying for him. That wasn’t limited to falling onto smooth ground either. Shaken up by being yelled at all of a sudden, and having his white cane grabbed from him so roughly, Tatsumi reflexively shook her hand away.
“&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;huh?”
Feeling as though that was extremely rude behavior, she raised an annoyed voice quietly to herself. It was too late for him to feel bad about what he had done.
“Sorry for trying to help!”
She said with an indignant tone before she would listen to Tatsumi’s apology, and left.
