He hadn’t heard anything about it. If his other coworkers knew, he may have been the only one who was left out. It was at times like this he was glad he was a man. The excuse, because he’s a man, could be used.
“She said it was because she was getting married, but that was a lie. Definitely.”
Yamanoi said unusually confident. When he asked if she had some basis for that, she didn’t really, but she never heard anything about her having a boyfriend, and even if she didn’t ask Yamauchi, she would have talked endlessly about him if she did, but she never gave an answer that sounded credible.
“She was probably looking for a new job and dating during her break.”
“So, since the princess is gone, we wanted take this opportunity to talk to you, Konno-san.”
“Aah, I see&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;”
He wasn’t sure what sort of face he should make, so he tried not to make much of any expression.
“&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;since we pretended not to notice, we thought you might have been pretty upset at us.”
“I wasn’t. At all.”
Honestly, he wouldn’t get angry over something like that. They were good people, even if they weren’t, he probably would have been indifferent about it.
“Putting aside the princess’s imaginary boyfriend, Konno-san, you’ve been in such a great mood lately. But ever since yesterday, you’ve been really depressed&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;are those ups and downs because of a lover?”
