Clyde"s POV

I could feel something was wrong. My mind link with Ophelia was quickly fading which was causing anger to erupt in my veins. She"s my mate, I don"t know if she felt it too, but I"m NOT loosing her, it"s not like she"s purposely running away, I can tell it"s something forcing her away.

"Alpha, two bodies were found dead in the pack infirmary."

I snapped out of my trance looking daggers into his eyes.

"Found dead?" I said, my tone harsh with the slightest hint of aggravation.

"Yes, and... Ophelia isn"t-"

Before he could finish his sentence my wolf took over as my legs pumped as hard as they could, fighting to find my mate.

-------

My mates sweet scent flooded through my nose and I knew I was getting closer. After just a few more of my strides, my legs brought me to a sight I never want to see again. A strong growl escaped my wolf form as I leaped onto the wolf that was on top of Ophelia. Before I could control myself, I was clamping my bite down on the rouge causing his neck to snap like a weak twig. Pathetic. Another wolf tackled me down, though it didn"t do much as a distraction when I kicked him off me, right into a tree. I looked over at Ophelia as she was on the ground and due to my accelerated senses, the sound of her whimpering was as clear as day. Oh h.e.l.l no. I ravaged the rest of the rouges out of anger within just a few minutes and went straight to my mate.

Ophelia"s POV

My side was absolutely aching. And this was worse than anything Adrian had ever inflicted on me. This felt like my entire side was torn off. My chest was heaving as I couldn"t bring in a steady breath, I was going in and out of consciousness then I felt Clyde nuzzle his nose into my neck which brought my whimpering to a quick halt, then I heard his husky voice low and protective, just barely whispering into my ear.

"Why didn"t you mind link me..."

I couldn"t really respond, for I was still in my wolf form. So I shifted back, and watched him as he gave me a once over causing his eyes to fill with l.u.s.t and desire. Then we heard footsteps almost as if they were running towards us. Clyde wrapped two protective arms around me as I let out a painful wince from him pulling me into his body.

"Alpha? Ah, Ophelia?"

Clyde relaxed his grip around me regaining a sense of calmness from the sound of his beta, Alistair"s voice.

"I brought a bag of clothes for the both of you... Considering you"re both ah- bare..."

He said, stifling out the last word before unzipping the bag, tossing us the clothes. I picked a shirt up slowly, putting it on before relaxing my aching body against a tree then heard a low, anger filled growl and knew exactly whose hatred filled growl that was. Clyde scooped me up in his arms, carrying me back. And regardless of my uncles words this morning... I didn"t care. I relaxed right into him, embracing his warm feeling, feeling myself fall asleep against him.
