Chapter 787 - 787 He"s a Spy!
787 He’s a Spy!
In addition, Elder Chen was one of the five great elders of the Inner Pavilion.
If he died, then they would be weak.
Elder w.a.n.g’s expression was bone-chillingly cold. Just the thought of his own Cabinet declining over the years was enough to send a pang in his heart.
He heavily fell back onto his chair, looking the other way.
!!
Elder Li felt his heart stir in his stomach.
So many years had pa.s.sed, and the Inner Pavilion had always appeared to be powerful. However, it seemed that their power was all for show. Without the five elders here today, it was hard to imagine what would become of them.
“The most important thing we can do now is to ensure Elder Chen’s safe return,” he slowly said to the people in the room.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Why don’t we raise our conditions?”
“Haven’t they already done enough? If more people were to see what conditions we’ve given, then wouldn’t that put all of us in danger?”
“Should we not find out more about the Green Cloud Pavilion?” the other elder suggested. “How could they have kidnapped Elder Chen this easily? There must be a spy within the Cabinet.”
“A spy!”
“Even if we do search for the spy, we can’t just ignore Elder Chen’s well-being, right? Without him, our hands are tied to his other duties as well.”
Their faces appeared dark and cold.
They had to find out who the spy was, but where should they start?
However, if they really wanted to find him, they must first investigate the situation within the Green Cloud Pavilion.
Just as they were consumed by their thoughts, a tall man immediately strode into the living room. His eyebrows were furrowed and his stance was stiff.
Bang!
Immediately, he chucked the man behind him. The familiar man had a piece of cloth stuffed in his mouth. No matter how much he moved around, however, he still couldn’t budge.
When Elder w.a.n.g saw who it was, he pursed his lips. “Liu Feng,” he called out to the man. “What’s going on? Why would you tie up Elder Cai’s disciple?”
The old man’s features were cold and unfeeling.
Elder w.a.n.g had always been fair with his disciples. Even the best of his men weren’t allowed to bully their fellow juniors, despite their position within the Pavilion.
However, Liu Feng didn’t appear fazed. Instead, he bit back, “I’ve noticed how sneaky he’s been acting recently, so I decided to follow him.”
“When I did, I found him leaving a small note right by the gates of the Inner Pavilion,” he continued. “I opened it, only to see that he was pa.s.sing updates about the Inner Pavilion to outsiders, to whom I a.s.sume to be the Green Cloud Pavilion. The note also contains personal information about us.”
That was the reason why he was quick to tie him up.
It was fortunate that he was able to learn martial arts, given that his family ran one of the great martial arts schools in the city. Despite his yearning for music, he was way stronger than an average person.
Elder Cai’s disciple didn’t stand a chance?
“What?”
Elder Cai immediately staggered up from his seat, his face filled with disbelief.
When he saw Liu Feng dragging his disciple into the room, he was more than furious, unsure of what his disciple had done to deserve such treatment.
Despite his feelings, he restrained himself and let him explain the reason behind his actions.
Only after hearing him did he snarl,
“How could this be? There must be some sort of error. I know him very well—he’d never be mad enough to do something like this!”
Elder Cai gripped his seat, supporting himself.
Cai Cheng was his disciple, the smartest man in the Cai Family. Ever since he had taken him in as his disciple, the man had always appeared to be very well-behaved.
Being a member of the Cai Family himself, he always had a high regard for him.
He wouldn’t dare believe that he was the traitor behind this!
After all, he had never treated him wrong. He always made sure to shower the man with all the benefits he could think of. He had always been very proud of his disciple and nephew.
