Chapter 934 - 934 Old Grudges
934 Old Grudges
The others weren’t stupid. They immediately understood that Cheng Yan didn’t want them to reveal too much about themselves, so they promptly shut their mouths.
“So it’s the revered young master of the Cheng Family. It’s no wonder that our attacks didn’t work against you.” Yu Shu’s demeanor suddenly changed. Gone were his previous intentions to win them over, and he was now acting cold.
“We should have realized sooner. Someone with the surname Cheng, who was so powerful that our own techniques were ineffective. You can only be from the Cheng family in Beijing.”
“Let’s just forget about everything and speak no more of this.” Xiao Biao cast a stern look at them. “You should hurry and leave this place!”
!!
“Leave?” Yu Shu scoffed, getting to his feet. “I’m afraid it won’t be that simple. Let Cheng Fang come and pick them up!” He waved his hand, and the entire living room suddenly shook and rumbled, as if they were in the middle of an earthquake.
Everyone swayed and frantically grabbed onto anything they could. Everyone, that was, except for Yao Tang and Cheng Yan.
“Old Yu, you crazy buffoon!” Xiao Biao yelled. He hadn’t expected Yu Shu to make trouble out of nowhere. Yu Shu had never seemed to care about much else, apart from his precious wastrel of a grandson. Worse, he should have known that the Cheng family was not to be trifled with, yet he had still gone and made a muck of things.
Yu Shu acted like he didn’t hear anything and only increased his power.
Soon, the ceiling began to cave in, and the rafts crashed to the ground, creating a cloud of dust. It was extremely difficult to see properly, much less breathe.
Yu Shu seemed to have unleashed his murderous streak.
“Foolish,” Yao Tang said under her breath. In a flash, she appeared right in front of the old man.
She reached out her slender, white arm and grabbed Yu Shu by the throat, holding him up until his feet no longer touched the floor.
Yu Shu choked and gasped, his face turning an alarming shade of purple.
Even so, he would rather die than align with these people. He had no intention of stopping the havoc he had wreaked upon them.
“Old Master Yu,” Yao Tang said slowly. “Surely, you wouldn’t want your lineage to end at your own hands, do you?”
But Yu Shu couldn’t utter a word. He could only stare at Yao Tang, his eyes bulging from exertion.
“It’s no surprise that the Xiao and Yu families are in a miserable state. It turns out that the patriarchs are both blockheads!” Yao Tang released Yu Shu, who crumpled to the ground, gasping desperately for air. The shaking had also stopped, since the spell caster didn’t have enough strength to keep it up.
“Grandpa!” Yu Chen rushed over to check on Yu Shu. “You vicious girl! What did you do to my grandfather?”
“What are you talking about?” Lin Xin spat out. “Your grandfather was the one who tried to kill us first, are we supposed to just stand still and wait to die?”
“You should be glad that I let him live,” Yao Tang said before turning away.
The room was a mess, and there wasn’t even a proper place to sit. She clicked her tongue in frustration. She had just woken up, she still needed ample rest.
Yao Tang snapped her fingers, and the room instantly returned to its original state.
If not for the red-faced and panting Yu Shu, everyone else might have thought that the earthquake had just been a dream.
Xiao Biao gaped in shock.
“That’s awesome!” Meng Yang blurted out, his eyes glittering as he stared at Yao Tang. “Sister Tang, how did you do that?”
“An illusion array was cast in this room,” Yao Tang explained, seeing that everyone was reacting like they had been transported to another world. “As long as you take control of the center of the array, you can control everything else in this s.p.a.ce.”
“Just who the h.e.l.l are you?!” Xiao Biao and Xiao Bing demanded in unison. This was definitely Yao Tang’s first time coming here, but not only did she know that there was an array in place, but she was also able to tame it with a snap of her fingers. How powerful was this girl?
“Do you guys recognize this jade piece?” Yao Tang held up the Tranquil Reverie for everyone to see.
She had managed to control the array thanks to the bauble. The moment she had stepped into the room, the spell formation had automatically appeared in her mind, and she didn’t hesitate to borrow the jade’s powers.”
Yao Tang had no reservations about showing the piece to everyone, as she had already surmised that her grandmother was somehow connected to this place.
Xiao Biao narrowed his eyes at the Tranquil Reverie, but eventually shook his head. Likewise, Xiao Bing and Yu Shu denied ever seeing it before.
Only Yu Chen seemed to want to say something, but he held his tongue.
“Speak,” Cheng Yan nodded at him.
“Well, I remember that when I was a young boy, an old couple came here. I saw that very same jade piece in their hands.”
“Yao Zheng and Yu Hong?” Xiao Biao chimed in wistfully. “If it’s Yu Hong, then it is very likely.”
Yao Tang couldn’t help but feel excited at the mention of her grandparents’ names. But at the same time, she knew that she couldn’t expose herself.
“What was the purpose of that couple in coming here?” she asked, keeping her voice low to hide her emotions.
“Back then, the formations of both our clans were rapidly weakening. Young disciples died one after another for seemingly no reason. What’s more, newborns showed no ability to cultivate illusion. Then the couple appeared without warning, saying that they could help us restore our formation.”
