Chapter 57: A New Crisis

Jiang Chen had no way of knowing that Su Qian would bring him more trouble. He was searching Shen Huan’s body to see what he had with him.
To his surprise, Shen Huan had two flags of the natural law. Along with the one Jiang Chen had found, he only needed two more to fulfill the task.
Flags of the natural law have connections with each other. One flag can lead you to another. Otherwise, in such a s.p.a.cious area it would be impossible to find them all.
But for the same reason, people will fight with each other in order to get the flags.
Jiang Chen packed the flags up and left quickly.
Soon, Ning Ping and his companions arrived at the same spot under Su Qian’s direction.
“That’s the body of my companion.” Su Qian started to cry when she saw Shen Huan. She looked so sad that people couldn’t help feeling pity for her.
Ning Ping pulled a long face. Su Qian’s crying annoyed him. He didn’t scold her, but only because of her beauty.
This man is so cold to women.
Su Qian was in fact very calm. She noticed Ning Ping’s expression and stopped crying. She said, “Flags of the natural law can interact with each other. Jiang Chen must have taken Brother Shen’s flags with him. We can chase him through the flags.”
“Flags of the natural law can only interact with those that are nearby. The localization isn’t precise,” Ning Ping said.
“Brother Shen had two flags. They are wood and metal. If the flag senses two flags at the same location, it must be where Jiang Chen is.”
“Oh?!”
Ning Ping obviously had never thought of this. He looked over to his subordinates and asked, “Who has a flag of the natural law?”
“I have one. I found it by accident when I arrived at the trial ground.”
A subordinate immediately came forward and handed a flag with water properties to him.
Ning Ping took it and opened it. The map of the trial ground was painted on the flag. On it, he saw some different colored points moving.
The closest was three points at the same location. Judging from the colors, they were fire, wood, and metal.
Two of them corresponded with Su Qian’s description.
“So Jiang Chen has one flag, too! Let’s go!”
Ning Ping jumped onto his horse and held Su Qian from behind. While smelling her hair, he said, “You’re clever. Why don’t you stay with me?”
“Thank you, Child Ning. As long as you can kill Jiang Chen and get revenge for Brother Shen, I’ll even marry you,” Su Qian lowered her head shyly and said in an affectedly sweet voice.
“Ha, he will die when we catch up with him!”
At that moment, Jiang Chen was hiding on a cliff and had no idea that he was being chased.
The Redcloud Sword was suspended before him, wrapped in sunlight.
Jiang Chen nodded and then some colorful rays appeared on the blade.
Jiang Chen touched one of the rays gently. The ray extended horizontally when his fingertip touched it, like a scroll unfolding.
What finally appeared before Jiang Chen were many small-sized characters and images that looked like tactical formations.
They were ware patterns.
Infinite mysteries were contained in only one streak and were carved onto weapons to turn them into spiritual weapons. The cla.s.s-seven ware pattern was densely written.
Most importantly, Jiang Chen had to understand the designer’s train of thoughts to repair it.
Fortunately, the principles to design ware patterns remain the same in essence. Each way has its strengths and weaknesses. I have to bearing all these in mind. Not a problem.
Jiang Chen wasn’t arrogant at all when he claimed he could repair the ware pattern overnight, since he did have the ability to do it.
He stretched out his hand towards a pattern of a circle, composed of countless random criss-crossed lines. When his hand touched them, these lines started to operate like a wheel and the disk emitted a brilliant light.
However, the disk stopped before the light peaked, and the black lines were close to collapsing as well.
That’s it!
Then Jiang Chen started to strike at the disk. He looked very focused and serious.
When he stopped, the disk started to turn again. It was quite smooth this time, and the light became more and more brilliant.
Great.
Jiang Chen nodded with satisfaction. The ware pattern unfolded and turned into one line once again and went back into the Redcloud Sword.
Without the genuine yuan Jiang Chen injected, there was already an aggression surrounding the blade of the Redcloud Sword.
As expected, most of the trouble with spiritual weapons is caused by failure of the yuan disks.
Some black lines from the disk of yuan were still in Jiang Chen’s palm. Only at that point could people clearly see that they were actually heavy black irons, components of dark steel that composed the disk of yuan.
The disk of yuan was the core of a ware pattern. Each ware pattern had to be equipped with at least one disk of yuan.
Cla.s.s-seven ware patterns required five disks of yuan.
Excluding the one Jiang Chen had just fixed, the other disks of yuan of the Redcloud Sword were all broken.
He didn’t fix them all, because he didn’t have enough time. Besides, he didn’t have all the necessary materials.
Since different components of these disks of yuan were broken, Jiang Chen would have to take parts from some and give them to others.
The darksteel components in his palm were all trash, so he threw them off the cliff.
“If I want to fix them in the future, I’ll have to buy new components. Cla.s.s-seven darksteel components cost a great fortune,” Jiang Chen thought to himself.
But it was worth it. The Redcloud Sword had become a cla.s.s-two spiritual sword. It was very sharp.
Suddenly, Jiang Chen heard a horse coming. He immediately became serious. Although he had intended to leave, it was already too late.
Ning Ping led some people to stop him. There was only cliff behind him.
“Jiang Chen, you’ve picked a bad place!” Ning Ping smiled arrogantly.
At that moment, even if he had put the Silver Dragon Armour on, Jiang Chen would have no way to escape, but he didn’t intend to kill Jiang Chen so easily. He waved his hand. His subordinates took out their bows and aimed at Jiang Chen.
“I am curious how you will dodge the arrows without the help of a tactical formation,” Ning Ping sneered.
Jiang Chen thought he had shaken them off. He didn’t know how they found out where he was, until he saw Su Qian.
“I shouldn’t have showed her any mercy,” Jiang Chen thought to himself.
“Jiang Chen, are you regretful? You had the chance to kill me, but instead, you made fun of me. This is payback!” Su Qian was quite complacent, since revenge was sweet.
Ning Ping sensed something in their conversation, so he asked out of curiosity, “Do you know each other?”
Su Qian was worried that Jiang Chen would mention again how he had divorced her and that Ning Ping would give her the cold-shoulder as a result, so she hurried to say, “I was his fiancée. But he became disabled after he got back from the Black Dragon City. I wanted to break up with him, but he was in hot pursuit of me.”
“What a coincidence! Fiancée?!” Ning Ping’s eyes lit up. He pulled Su Qian into his arms and said, “Jiang Chen, how do you feel seeing this?”
“To me she is worse than a prost.i.tute. Besides, I’ve written the certificate of divorce. We don’t have any relation to each other now,” Jiang Chen said.
“Really?”
Ning Ping believed him and became bored. He let Su Qian go and jumped off his mount. He said, “So I have to kill you with my own hands and then sleep with your girl.”
Instantly, he put the Silver Dragon Armour on and walked towards Jiang Chen.
“If he runs, shoot!”
