Chapter 834 - Harra.s.sed By The Mayor"s Son (2)
When Bran saw a man was giving his girlfriend a bouquet of flowers, he s.n.a.t.c.hed the flowers from the man and glared at him when he tried to protest.
"Hey! That"s mine!" said the man angrily. He wanted to take back what was his, but Bran hid the flowers behind his back.
"Hey! Don"t you know who I am? How dare you talk back to me!" The mayor"s son narrowed his eyes and showed his family"s ring. It was enough to make the couple cower.
"That"s the mayor"s son..." the woman whispered to her boyfriend. "Please don"t look for trouble. You can get me flowers another time."
The man clenched his jaws. He was angry at the mayor"s son but realized he was just a peasant who didn"t have any power to fight a n.o.bleman. He could only turn to his girlfriend and apologized with his eyes. The girl smiled rea.s.suringly and shook her head.
They didn"t dare to say anything to Bran and finally decided to just leave the park when the other youths from the group came to intimidate them further.
Rowena just finished wearing her hat when she heard footsteps approaching her. She glanced to the side. The girl knitted her brows when she saw a young man was walking towards her.
Bran came with a big smile on his face and he was carrying a bunch of flowers in his hand. Several other young men were following him.
This made Rowena feel unease. She became more and more uncomfortable when the young man pushed a man who was walking in front of her.
How rude, she thought. She had never seen someone smiling so smugly like this and she hated what she saw.
"h.e.l.lo, Beautiful," said Bran with a big smile on his face.
Right at that moment, Lady Liz arrived. She had been trying to catch up with Rowena who was chasing her hat. Since she was older and not as energetic as her ward, she came late.
The lady was surprised to see several young men standing in front of her, blocking the way. She could tell they didn"t have good intentions from the way they looked at Rowena. She glanced at the princess frantically.
Gosh.. what is this? Lady Liz looked around the park, trying to locate the knights who were supposed to protect the princess. Where are those knights when we need them? Lady Liz felt cold sweat run down her back.
Rowena stared at the mayor"s son coldly. She didn"t bother responding to his greetings. The man was still holding out the flowers and smiling. He was usually not this patient but this girl before him was so beautiful, he decided to make an exception.
"May I know your name, sweetheart?" asked Bran. "My name is—"
"No," said Rowena firmly, before the man could introduce himself.
Her obvious rejection caused some of the boys behind the mayor"s son to giggle, mocking him.
Bran was surprised to receive such cold treatment from this beautiful girl, but it only made him feel more intrigued. He came closer and held out his hand but Rowena pushed it away.
"Hey, I"m the son of the mayor of Almere. My father is the most powerful man in this city!" said the young man, puffing out his chest. "You might want to change your mind now."
Rowena glanced at the young man disinterestedly. "I told you, I"m not interested. Do you have ears or not?"
The boys at the back were laughing and cackling at this point. They didn"t expect Rowena to respond this way to Bran, the son of the most powerful man in town. Finally, someone put the mayor"s son in his place, they thought.
The boys were eager to know how this would play out. They looked at Bran curiously.
"Bran, she doesn"t want to know your name," said one boy to the mayor"s son. "That"s a first."
"Are you going to let her embarra.s.s you like this?"
Finally, Bran ran out of patience.
"Shut up!" he shouted. He slammed the flowers he had brought in front of Rowena. His att.i.tude infuriated Lady Liz. The woman moved forward and confronted the young man.
"Insolent brat! Do you know who you"re talking to? How dare you!" Lady Liz"s scolded Bran and pushed him away. "Stay away from Rowena!"
This made Bran feel even more humiliated. Lady Liz"s loud voice had also caught the attention of the people around them. Now everyone in the park was watching and murmuring among themselves. They all loved drama and wanted to know what was going on.
Meanwhile, Lady Liz intentionally shouted with a loud voice because she hoped to get the attention of the knights who were supposed to protect Rowena. Jarvis should hear her and come immediately to their rescue.
"What did you say?" Bran touched his chest that was pushed by Lady Liz and then turned to look at the older woman with fire in his eyes. He was so furious because a woman trampled on his pride like that.
"I said don"t you dare hara.s.sing my lady over here. You will regret the day you were born," Lady Liz replied. "I am warning you."
Bran laughed wickedly. He raised his index finger to warn Lady Liz.
"No, I should be the one to give you warning! A peasant like you seems not to understand who you are talking to. You don"t know who I am. I"m the son of the mayor of Almere! MY FAMILY OWNS THIS TOWN. I can throw you both in jail if I want to!"
Rowena who was getting annoyed then pulled Lady Liz"s hand to leave.
"Come on Lady Liz, let"s go. Think of him as air," Rowena said flatly. She turned to leave, ignoring the mayor"s son and his entourage.
"Hey! You!" At this point, Bran was so angry he raised his hand ready to hit Rowena. Lady Liz immediately charged at the young man, trying to protect the princess.
However, when Bran"s hand was swinging in the air, a big burly man suddenly held it with his arm.. The next thing he knew was his body was tossed down to the ground and he fell hard.
