105 Xia Ru Is Well
Song Yan sighed and continued, “You know how feces smell. It’s not just our house. The neighbors all smell like c.r.a.p too. However, everyone took into account Xia Ru’s pain so they endured it. But we still have to eat.
“Especially our family’s situation. You should have heard that my mother does all the work in the fields. My father also works the hardest in the factory. The three of us also found a job today. Hence, we thought that we might as well spend some money and have a good meal.
“Since we are eating out, of course we have to choose the best boss. Your restaurant turned up to be the most suitable.”
Hearing Xia Wan’s last sentence, the boss smiled and said, “You have a way with words. Order whatever you want. I’ll bring you some drinks. You’re going to a private room, right? I’ll take you there.”
As he spoke, the boss personally led the way to their best private room. From there, the impeccable scenery outside was clearly visible through the window.
The boss held the menu in his hand and asked, “What do you want to order?”
Xia Wan looked at the other people in the house. “What do you want to eat? Everyone, please don’t hold back and order something.”
She heard Xia Wan say that they would each order a dish. Everyone seemed a little uneasy.
“There are five of us now,” Yan Han said in a low voice. “I think three dishes should be enough.”
“We don’t eat that much,” Xia Hai chimed in. “We usually eat only two or three types. There’s no need to order so many dishes in a restaurant.”
Xia Wan could tell that if her parents were to order, they would probably pick the cheapest dish, so she let Xia Chen and Xia Feng each order one. Then, she ordered two dishes, five bowls of rice, and a bowl of soup.
The three ordered good dishes. There was fish, braised pork, braised tofu pudding, lion’s head, and tenderloin. As for the soup, they chose tomato egg soup.
The entire meal cost a whopping 23 yuan. Xia Wan asked for the price on the spot and gave the money to the boss.
When Yan Han and Xia Hai heard the price, both of their hearts ached a little. They had not expected to spend so much money on a meal. However, since Xia Wan had already paid for it, they could not say anything.
After the owner left the room, Xia Hai couldn’t help but say, “Today’s situation is special, so let’s come to the restaurant to eat. In the future, when we have nothing to do, we’ll cook at home.”
Xia Wan smiled. Before the dishes were served, she placed the proceeds of the day on the table. Xia Hai and Yan Han were both shocked as their daughter produced the stack of red bills.
“Wanwan, is this the money you earned from selling clothes? How much did you spend on your stock?” Yan Han’s reacted faster than Xia Hai, and she quickly asked after seeing the amount of money her daughter had.
Xia Wan was keenly aware that her mother, Yan Han, seemed to be smarter than her father in this aspect. If an ordinary person saw her take out a pile of money, the first thing they would think of was that she must’ve earned a lot. Her mother, however, would consider the money on the table first. If it was earned money, then she would think about how much money was spent on the purchase of the goods.
This was because the amount of profit garnered from a business was actually based on the final selling price of the product. After deducting the cost price of the goods, that was one’s net profit.
Xia Wan didn’t hide anything and directly said to Yan Han, “I spent more than 1000 yuan buying those clothes, and the sales came up to almost 3000 yuan. I’ve counted the net profit, and I got over 2000 yuan.
After hearing Xia Wan’s words, Yan Han and Xia Hai’s eyes widened in shock. Xia Hai’s body stiffened, and he was at a loss for words.
Xia Wan and the others only sold clothes for one day but had made a net profit of 2000 yuan. He worked at the factory every day, leaving early in the morning and returning late at night. He basically had no time to rest, but he only made 300 yuan a month. In comparison, Xia Hai felt that his daughter was really capable, but at the same time, felt how incompetent he was as a father.
All he could do was earn a meager sum through backbreaking labor, but his smart daughter could make so much just by selling clothes.
Yan Han, on the other hand, also laughed after the initial shock. She quickly said, “Alright, alright. Mom and Dad have seen the money. You should keep it quickly. We don’t know when the dishes will be ready. It won’t be nice if others see the cash.”
