CHAPTER 20
After that night, I saw a change. My father didn’t visit me every day and I constantly had someone following me…That wasn’t my brother.
Talon, having heard reports from the person following Sahara, was surprised. He had always wanted to know where she would disappear off to sometimes!
There was a clearway through a small bush area, that lead to a small cliff face that she would seem to meditate on that for quite some time every day.
Another thing he hadn’t known, was that Sahara played with the animals…And even went to see the other small children of the family.
She seemed to have taken over the responsibility of a rabbit and saw it twice a day. The children she visited, ended up being infants to toddlers and she would even be scolded, when she was found out.
There was one child, however, that wasn’t a toddler nor infant. He was about thirteen years old and of a sickly const.i.tution, and she would go see and talk to him in the garden, and bring her ‘pet’ rabbit to him.
Even though Talon had started the follower because of an upset reaction, he became more interested each time the follower came back to report about her!
After a few days of trying not to care about the way I was suddenly being ignored by my favourite person, I accepted the fact that I actually did care.
And since I cared, I ventured to find my father, who was in his study. “Father.”
He looked up, then hastily looked away again, “Father is busy, you can take your leave.”
If she stays, she would find out that I miss her…
I narrowed my eyes and shook my head, “Typical!”
With my strange word, and presence still lingering, my father looked up again, questioningly.
I stared at him then, and simply said, “Why are you angry? I want to understand.”
I needed to give him this chance, I needed him to see that I can’t go on in having him be blind. Not only that, I was not a hundred percent certain why he was ignoring me. I had ideas, but which one was it, or was it all of them?
I wanted him and I to chat it out and get over it!
I wasn’t normally one that asked for much…
I hoped father could see that I wanted him to answer my question. That…Was what I wanted…
“This…This is nothing for you to worry about! Please leave!”
His words hurt! I seemed to have put in so much hope to talk to him, that I felt utterly let down!
How could he change so much, so quickly!
I was already used to people not caring about me, through this I recognized his way of talking and att.i.tude…I knew it well!
Clenching my fists, to my emotional pain, I said, “I’m not one to beg for forgiveness for something I didn’t do, yet, I’ve done that to keep the peace. I have now decided that I won’t do it anymore! If Gabriella tries to harm or scheme me anymore, I will have evidence to show you!”
With that said, I walked out proudly…But, the faith and tenderness I had for him didn’t follow me…
As soon as I was in my ‘house’ and alone, I slumped down on my bed and hung my head. I want to think, ‘Hey, it was good while it lasted!’ but, I was truly upset!
I never liked losing things…I had strengthened my heart so that it wouldn’t matter if I lost something…Not only that, I would also try not to gain something to lose in the first place…
With Talon, it seemed I had forgotten about this. Perhaps, having this disagreement between us, will at some time vanish and we will be as we were before. And as I thought of this, I honestly wanted it to be that way, but I couldn’t help but be disappointed.
I mumbled my sorrows and laid on the bed…
On the other hand, Talon was again stunned into silence after my departure.
Gabriella? Is Sahara truly been schemed against, all this time? By…Gabriella?
Sitting heavily, Talon tried to recall the past.
Sahara had always never admitted to doing what had happened, but still silently received punishment. What had Gabriella been up to then?
Feeling at a loss, Talon wanted to find evidence to support this claim, otherwise he wouldn’t believe it!
“Someone come!”
“Master?”
“Get me one of Gabriella’s servants here! Now!”
After twenty minutes, a particular maidservant came in and respectfully bowed. “Master.”
Talon still had no idea where to start, even having twenty minutes beforehand to think about it…
Staring at her, he tried to find the best questions.
“Master?”
Lightly coughing, he then said, “Sahara’s belongings…”
He stopped, unsure how to continue, but he was stunned to see uneasiness in the maid’s gestures and eyes.
The silence dragged on as Talon wondered if it was all true!
