CHAPTER 4

After a week, I finally went through the door!

Then in another week, I crawled all around my small, little ‘house’!

To anyone else, this would seem to be a small accomplishment, but to me, it was huge!

I was so happy that it didn’t matter that I had been ignored that night, yet again…

The next day, after I was left alone, I wondered out a little further and was able to see the one living beside me, from about twenty metres away. This child was a sickly male, that was bigger than me. I a.s.sumed he was closer to one and a half or two years old. Seeing him cry, I wanted to go take a closer look, but knew I wouldn’t be able to return to my own ‘house’ if I did. Instead, I sat and watched, listening to his cries. The mother seemed to be there and trying to coax the boy to drink more, but this child just wasn’t able to latch on probably to the nanny.

He might need a modern-day babies bottle or something, mmm?

Thinking about somebody else’s problem, gave me something to do and I even felt better about my own situation. I didn’t feel the jealousy, from knowing that mother cared more for that child then my own ‘mother’ did for me, instead I was curious. Actually, I already knew that my curiosity was a flaw of mine, but what can I do when it’s a part of who I am?

As I crawled back to go inside, still not letting on to anyone that I can crawl yet, I contemplated my neighbour’s problem. My instincts insisted that the child would be better with a bottle…

Yeah…Where am I ganna get one of those?

Normally, I followed my instincts like a religion, they seemed to be always be right! The problem was, if I hadn’t followed them, something bad would always happen! At first, this happened a lot when I was young in my past life. I had bad luck often and found myself depressed, being misunderstood, homeless…

Sighing, I struggled to find a way to help the boy, by following my instincts, but came up with nothing!

Great! Now something bad is ganna happen!

Just as I had given up and saw my doomed future, I saw someone rush into the house, to stop just in front of me.

Doom has come!

I’m a realist. And when I see someone big, with a sinister smile on their face…I think I’m a goner!

I had no allies and couldn’t even stand. Even if I let out some sharp, loud cry, it would not matter in the slightest!

All I could do, is stubbornly look at this boy in front of me.

…Just do it! The sooner you do whatever it is you do to me, the sooner I can find a solution!

The boy bent down and picked up my arm, then started to drag me along the floor.

My arm hurts like h.e.l.l! Really, babies are so tiny and easy to break!

Feeling my arm pop out of its socket, I could no longer keep calm and I cried out a pitiful baby cry, but this boy did not stop…

For five minutes or so, I was dragged. My skin, underneath the clothes that hardly sheltered me, was red due to the friction, and both of my feet were bleeding. I wanted to pick up my feet, but of course, I hadn’t the strength. My b.u.m was soft and found every single rock that it went over. I didn’t think I got cut open down there, but I was sure that I would get a few bruises…My arm, which hurt tremendously, seemed to start going a little bit numb, as I guessed that the blood seemed to slow down in flowing through it…

I had never experience this kind of pain, where I’m absolutely helpless and powerless…Ever!

Normally, I’d be like ‘Hey, pain lets you know you’re alive’, and try to shrug it off…But, screw those words! This was torture for me and my baby’s body!

…I hadn’t even been able to calm myself down, before the boy suddenly let me go and ran away…
