CHAPTER 63
Both of us, unknowingly to the other, seemed to be gaining a smile on their lips and getting more and more excited!
I rapidly moved and swung my swords, yet the other person either dodged or blocked my attacks.
We were both determined to show our strength to the other, yet couldn’t seem to find a falter big enough to break through and win the fight!
Smiling even bigger now, because of feeling overjoyed to having such an interesting fight, I tried my next strategy…Of using my meditation at the same time.
I knew and felt, that it would only be a matter of time before I would have to admit forfeit, because my strength and spiritual essence was running out! I had to win! And to do that, I prepared for a big finish!
Dodging an attack, I removed a rope from ‘storage’. After I blocked another attack of theirs, I chuckled.
Putting my spiritual essence into the rope, I bluffed an attack and instead of following up with my other sword to defend, I used my momentum from the attack to roll away in the opposite direction, and then focused to catch the person’s feet with the rope.
Making the person trip over, I hear a thump, as they fell to the ground.
Getting up, I found myself breathing quite heavily and I wiped the sweat that my forehead had gathered, with my sleeve. I smiled as I slowly made my way a little bit closer towards them, and…I see that the other person is a male…And a little dirty. But the fact that he had fallen, made me laugh happily.
I won!
But the man slammed his hand into the dirt, making him able to grab at it with great force, then he pushed his way towards me in one go, as one would when climbing up a rock edge, grabbing my feet and making me also fall to the ground in a thump!
I was totally sure that I heard a chuckle, but the pain of my head hitting the ground, made me think of that instead.
“Oww…Dam!”
I went to move my hand to my head, and when I opened my eyes, a sword was pointing at me and the man was standing up.
Silence over came us and I couldn’t help but smile guiltily at him, “Hehe, sorry…I got too much into the fight.”
His face changed to that of surprise. He stared at me for a good moment and then put down his sword.
I blinked and sat up. I was worn out from travel and my spiritual essence had already been half depleted before I even started the fight.
So…I got out a fruit, and started to eat, while watching the man silently stand there.
He seemed to be struggling with some thoughts and I took out another fruit and lifted it up. With my mouth full, I innocently asked, “Wun?”
Putting his sword away in its scabbard, he nodded his head slightly and I threw him the fruit.
We strangely ate in silence and I watched him as he watched me…He gobbled up the fruit very quickly, but quietly, and he had sat down. At first, he had his eyes closed, as though he was relishing the taste, but after a short few seconds, he opened his eyes again.
Seeing that I hadn’t done anything to warrant any kind of trouble, he had happily continued to eat and seemed unhappy when the fruit was gone.
Naruto came to me slowly, he was trembling and had a tail or two between his legs. I grabbed him when he was close enough, and put him in my lap.
“Why do you have a beast?”
I shrugged.
Can’t I keep a beast?
“Were you…”
I waited for him to finish, but he didn’t.
Sighing, I saw that he seemed to have taken a lot of effort to ask, so I responded, “Circ.u.mstances led me to stay outside of Green Haven for a time.” I said casually, while taking another bite of the fruit.
I strangely felt like the both of us had the same kind of problem…
When I had been homeless, it felt normal to know who else was homeless. It was so easy to know back then…
It was similar to that feeling now, that maybe we both are cautious, yet, taking risks. That we may have secrets, and that we didn’t officially have a place to stay.
For some strange reason, I felt his att.i.tude and wondering eyes, were familiar to me. And, due to that, I didn’t want to give off any kind of impression that I would harm him in any way.
