After the the door finished rebuilding itself, Alexa"s voice rang through the room. "Now that you have proven your basic skills: deduction, patience, problem solving, and your potential for growth, it is now time to begin a practical test."At this point Leon began questioning whether what he knew about dungeons was correct. From what he had seen so far this dungeon didn"t seem to be dangerous at all. Even in the giant dome where he came from, none of the creatures even spared him a second thought.
"Why am I being tested, aren"t dungeons supposed to try to kill me... or something like that?" Leon asked.
"If you really want to risk your life, I could always change up the tests. I have been adjusting them to make them to match your capabilities, as this is the Trial of the Mind, and are concerned about how you act when faced with a problem. We are not intending to test you on your magic, or physical ability. Having said that, if you are not satisfied with the current difficulty of the tests, I could always increase their difficulty if you would prefer."
Leon didn"t know what to make of this new information, but one thing became clear after hearing what Alexa told him, it didn"t seem as if this dungeon was designed to kill him.
As if reading his mind Alexa added, "Having said all of this, if you fail to pa.s.s this next test within one month of receiving it, then you forcibly removed from the dungeon." Alexa left what that meant up to his imagination.
"Just because the dungeon isn"t out to kill me, doesn"t mean that it has any reservations about doing so" Leon thought. "On that note, what is this next task that I have to complete in a month?" Leon asked.
After asking the question a desk appeared out of nowhere in the center of the room. On the desk was a large leather bound book, and an ingot of some strange metal.
"Within one month, you have to read this book, and prove that you can use your knowledge in a practical manner. You have been provided with all the materials that you will need to complete this task. Also I will not answer any questions this time around. When you sit in the chair the timer will begin." after she finished speaking an hourgla.s.s appeared in front of the desk.
"One month" Leon whispered to himself as he sat down at the desk, and turned his attention to the book. The second he sat down, sand began falling through the hourgla.s.s. The cover of the book read, "Introduction to Basic Elemental Control".
"Elemental control? I barely know how to manipulate mana!" Leon couldn"t help but think that this was a high hurdle, and began doubting that Alexa was really making the difficulty of these tests any easier for him.
With no time to spare, Leon got right down to work.
--
Day 1:
"Sense the elemental essence being emitted by the ingot... Feel the elemental essence from the iron ingot..." Leon muttered the same thing to himself over and over again, while staring at the strange ingot.
---
Day 2:
"SENSE THE FKN" ELEMENTAL ESSENCE FROM THE INGOT" Leon yelled, as frustration was getting the better of him. He had never focused on one thing so intently for so long.

Day 3:

"Senms des alma.n.a.l ensens ...inng eminnnen my de ingnut" Leon appeared to have lost it... For some reason he was lying face up on the desk with the end of the ingot hanging out of his mouth, which was made it very hard to understand what he was saying....
---
Day 10:
"I GOT IT!" Leon had finally managed to sense mana coming off of the metal ingot, and he could vaguely sense a subtle difference from normal mana!
---
Day 15:
Leon could now be seen sitting on top of the desk intently focusing on his hand, where a large amount of mana had acc.u.mulated, but ultimately failed to take on any sort of solid shape. In a far corner of the room, a beaten up ingot was laying on the ground, that for some strange reason had what appeared to be bite marks on it.
---
Day 20:
Leon was having some success with solidifying his mana, but if he lost focus for even a fraction of a second then all the mana in his hand would dissipate.
---
Day 22:
There were now scratches, and bruises all over Leon"s arms, but he was now maintaining a somewhat solid ball of mana in his hand that could be seen with the naked eye. Every time he lost control of the mana it would dissipate in a very uncontrolled explosion. The explosions were responsible for the state of Leon"s arms.
---
Day 25:
Leon was beginning to get frustrated again, as he hadn"t figured out the secret to manipulating the mana to replicate the metal essence. What was worse he was beginning to run out of time. Leon felt like he was making extremely quick progress, but he wasn"t sure if he had enough time.
---
Day 27:
The beat up metal ingot was now back on his desk, and he was comparing his mana, to the mana emanating out of the ingot. He was so intensely focused that if someone were to walk up behind him and clap next to his ear, there was a good chance he wouldn"t even notice.
---
Day 29:
"HAHAHAHAHA, I DID IT!" Leon maniacally cackled. True to his word, Leon did indeed manage make a small fleck of metal appear in his hand. Though he still didn"t know what kind of metal it was, Leon now understood a lot about it. The metal was very hard, but when exposed to an open flame it would quickly melt. Although he didn"t have a flame to test this new found knowledge, he just somehow knew at this point.
---
Day 30:
Leon was now able to consistently create a fist sized chunk of metal in his hand, and there were now sc.r.a.ps of metal littered all over the floor.
Alexa decided to speak to Leon for the first time in almost a month, "Wow, you improved at an impressive rate, and proved that you can use knowledge practically. Congratulations on pa.s.sing the practical test! Next is just a simple interview process, please proceed through the door." Immediately after she finished speaking a rectangular exit melted out of the wall.
Somewhat startled, Leon awkwardly got off the desk, and started walking towards the exit, "Wait did she say an interview process?" What kind of dungeon was this again?
