The Eternal World

Chapter 5

Rosy, dresses and jewelries and sth more

Back at my room I let out a deep sigh.

A political marriage.

Certainly if it"s this kind of marriage it"s understandable if there"s no love. Even so, they already have two children. Do they not know the thing called affection towards your family?

Maybe one of them was truly reluctant to marry. But for the sake of an heir they had to have a child. And then because the first child was a girl, they had no choice but to have another.

Is it because of that, that my mother can be this indifferent towards her son. She gave birth to the eldest son, so now she can be as selfish as she wants, or that"s how I see it.

If so, what is the reason for the difference in treatment? Even though we"re siblings, why is it that we"re kept apart so harshly? Because she has a cute daughter with whom she can play dress up, she is indifferent towards her other child who is a boy?

Does such an absurd reason really exist?

Does her persistent repeating of "Queen, Queen" have something to do with it?

My mother, who repeats queen so much so that it can be said that, if she opens her mouth the first thing to come out would be that, honestly believes that I"ll really become queen.

But to the me, who has memories of my previous life, the queen thing only fills me with dread.

Who would like to live such a restricted life? Having attendants and maids with you twenty-four seven, having to look out for manners and etiquette, to deal with social visits and diplomacy.

Just thinking about it is giving me chills.

But well, becoming one is not that simple, or so I make myself believe and turn to more pressing matters- such as Oscar"s issue.

Now that I found out, that the other world"s common sense works here too, I can"t find a reason to follow my mother"s order. It"s a fact that my mother is neglecting her son. But there"s no reason for me to do the same.

That said, with this I understood the wet nurse"s sad expression from that time. She probably knew of my mother" behavior and found him pitiful.

Since her treatment of me is completely different, after all.

You can"t blame me for holding unpleasant feeling towards my mother, right?

Since it"s like that.

Then there"s no need for me to restrain myself, right?

It was that noh-maid, that said that if I don"t listen to what I am told she"ll be the one to be reprimanded, but through my observations I"ve notice something strange. Why is it that the other maids change so frequently, yet she"s the only one that hasn"t been changed?

She"s a maid, that follows my mother"s orders diligently. If you say that since she"s a servant she can"t go against her orders, then the topic ends there. But if you look at it from the view point of a person, you can tell how inhumane that is. Also even when she scolded me that time, she explained it in a way to protect herself. No matter how I look at it that maid is not normal.

The wet nurse with the sad expression and the maid that makes sure to protect herself.

Common sense dictates that the wet nurse is more respectable.

"Alright! I"ve decided! No matter what anyone says I"ll stick to doing things my own way!"

It was when I had just made up my mind and was about to head to Oscar"s place, my mother being full of smiles came together with her maids.

"Rosy, it"s finally time to meet the prince! From now we"ll be preparing for tomorrow."

It appeared…

"Let"s make you cute, so that the prince would like you. It"s alright. Leave everything to your mother. He"ll definitely notice your charm. Rosy, you are cute enough to make any and every gentleman your prisoner after all!"

No matter how chilled I was feeling in my heart I worked hard and put on a smile.

None of the dresses my mother had personally prepared for me were to my liking. I wasn"t sure that the color even looked good on me. In my honest opinion it was too gaudy.

I already have this striking hair color and yet it"s all such strong and bright colors like pink and bright yellow. It was very disgusting so I once again played the child and tried to choose the dress for myself even if it was a little plain for a child. It was a light pastel like green colored dress.

And yet the dresses my mother brought were all with bright and fluorescent like colors.

"Mother, I like this one."

It was time to put my acting skills to use. Like h.e.l.l I"m giving up here!

"Well, Rosy… I am not sure this kind of plain dress will leave any impression on the prince…"

"Noo, I want this one. Mooother."

Acting like a spoiled child, I feel like something important is breaking but I have to persevere.

"Rosy, tomorrow is a very important day. Choose this one."

"Noo, I want this one. Mother is a meany!"

Ugh! It"s hard but I have to hold on.

"Is that so? Mother thinks this one"s better but it"s alright. You can choose the one you like, Rosy."

"Yes, mother!"

"If it"s like that, are these necklaces good or maybe these ones?"

And once again my mother started to choose over-the-top necklaces with big tear shaped stones. While being fed up with her tastes I took the ones that were comparatively to my taste.

"I want this necklace, mother."

"Oh, Rosy… You are a count"s daughter. You"ll be laughed at if you choose such cheap looking necklace."

"But I like this one"

I would like you to spare me, please…I"m about to reach my limit. To show her I won"t budge, I tried to puff my cheeks and so she finally gave in.

When my mother and her maids left, I flopped completely exhausted on my bed.

"It"s useless…don"t match at all…I can"t see eye to eye with that mother of mine."

What is with her strange obsession with this "queen" business? Even just now, she was talking a lot about attracting the prince"s attention.

Is there a reason why I definitely have to become a queen? Sebasu also didn"t say anything. There"s definitely something going on.

"Even if it"s so, there"s no way the information I want would just spring forth… "

I have no intention of attracting the prince"s attention at all. I want to see the end of tomorrow"s meeting safely without incident and then come back home. I don"t care about the prince, but I can"t help but feel uneasy about my mother"s wish coming true.

"Oh, well. At any rate I"ll go meet Oscar! Alright!"

Anyway, what"s the harm in going to see your own brother? With that in mind I got off the bed enthusiastically.
