Gu Xijiu estimated that three days of rest would be enough for her to return to her normal routine. She should be able to venture into the vortex again for yet another round of cultivation.Di Fuyi offered, "I am here to cultivate, actually, for at least two months. Meanwhile, I can take care of you until you can take care of yourself."
Gu Xijiu was relieved by his benevolence and righteousness. If she only knew that he was such a kind gentleman, she would not have controlled him by using a spell in the first place. Speaking of which, she started wondering if her spell actually ever worked on him. Did he grow immune to the spell halfway through, or was he even controlled at all? Baffled, she decided to ask.
After a brief pause, Di Fuyi decided to put her curiosity to bed. "The spell was powerful, but I found a way to build a resistance against it. As soon as you cast a spell on me, I already knew how to free myself from it."
Gu Xijiu was a little annoyed. "So you just pretended to be under control... Did you treat my situation as a joke?"
"I wanted to see what you were going to do to me," Di Fuyi answered.
"I see. So you have been pretending all this time. Why did you suddenly stop?"
"No point doing it now. Besides, I refuse to be taken advantage of any longer."
Silence filled the air for a moment.
Although it was not a big deal, Gu Xijiu was still a little despaired, for she had been rejected by the same person far too many times. "Are you really that reluctant to be my disciple? Do you know how many people have I rejected?"
Di Fuyi gave her a nonchalant look. "Go after them, then. Why bother me?" He was right. Nothing done forcibly was going to be agreeable.
"Humph. Someday you are going to regret this."
Di Fuyi did not seem to mind at all. "I will never do anything that makes me have any regrets." Also, he would never do anything without reason. Everything came with a plan.
Gu Xijiu silently agreed. There was no disputing that. Anyway, she did not feel like arguing anymore, for she could never win. At this point, she would even lose in a fistfight.
With everything said and done, Gu Xijiu decided that it was time for her to drop the matter and meditate. However, as soon as she sat down, he immediately pulled her up. "You cannot do this alone. Let me help." He then pulled her into his arms and sat her down on his lap.
He did not seem to any form of awkwardness despite them sitting together at such close proximity. Gu Xijiu, however, was clearly uncomfortable. "I do not need your help. I can cultivate on my own."
She started to struggle, but Di Fuyi quickly held her down by the waist and stopped her from s.h.i.+fting about. "Why are you struggling? You should know that you will recover better in my arms," Di Fuyi answered in a puzzled tone.
Obviously, Gu Xijiu knew that was the case, but she was still uncomfortable. "We are not exactly close to each other. Shouldn"t we keep a distance?"
Di Fuyi questioned her point, "That is strange. Before this, you kept trying to get close to me, didn"t you?"
Gu Xijiu could not reply at first, for she did not know how to handle his accusation. Nevertheless, she needed to correct him, "You have always been a disciple to me. I was injured, so it was only necessary that you took care of me. Plus, the minor skin contact was unavoidable. However, now that you refuse to be my disciple, it does not feel right for me to trouble you any longer."
Di Fuyi froze momentarily. Swiftly, Gu Xijiu rose and walked out of his embrace. She went to another corner of the room and started meditating on her own.
Meanwhile, Di Fuyi watched as she became completely absorbed in her meditation. All of a sudden, a sudden sense of recklessness struck him. He used to have the privilege to be by her side, but he pushed her away.
As for Gu Xijiu, her recovery did not happen as planned. After a month, only ten percent of her spiritual power was recovered.
