Chapter 7 – Emergency

When Lu Feng returned to Lu manor, she threw those Maoshan"s Eliminating Demons books at Mutou. “Burn it all.”

Mutou held the books in her arms and asked subconsciously: “Why do you want to burn it? These were all bought with the monthly money you squeezed out of your teeth. Won"t it be regretful to burn them all.”

Lu Feng"s face slightly turned black, and she angrily said: “The most authentic thing in Maoshan is precisely their demon capturing technique, and Shushan"s talent is capturing using sorcery. The individuals who wrote these books are obviously inventing crazy nonsense and writing without basis, cheating to get money! “

Maoshan"s Eliminating Demons, Maoshan"s Capturing Demons, Maoshan"s Taming Demons… Fancy that, she bought the entire series!

Xu Mu said this to her when he followed her out, that in the future she should read less of these kinds of things. Little overlord Lu was met with someone who pointed out that she had been fooled. One could imagine how dark her complexion was.

Why did she always do shameful things in front of him…

Lu Feng laid down on the soft settee, her fingertips tapping on the soft settee beneath her. Xu Mu knew so much at nine years of age, certainly there is something not right. As for how he knew her, since he didn"t want to say, it was better she provoke him less in the future.

Getting rid of the mess, Lu Feng"s hand brushed against a folk book on the side and looked at it with great interest.

Since that day, whenever Ji Ruan called Lu Feng to go to “Sweet Taste” again, she was rejected. Without Lu Feng as a cover, Ji Ruan often went out, causing Ji Shi to become suspicious.

Normally, when Ji Ruan returned to the capital, she would read in the study room unless Lu Feng dragged her out to wander around. Now the two have been reversed, and it changed to Lu Feng who was always idle reading in the study room and Ji Ruan going out of the house everyday.

With Ji Shi"s suspicion in his heart, he went straight to Lu Feng"s courtyard to ask her.

When he was on his way, Lu Feng was lying on the soft settee with her legs propped up, eating candied fruits while looking at a book, her life was very comfortable.

When Mutou rushed in, she was rewarded with candied fruits.

“Ai yo, feed your master.” Mutou hurriedly grabbed the candied fruits, and stuffed it in her mouth and stated, “The lord is coming to our courtyard.”

Lu Feng immediately scrambled up, putting the book in her hands under the pillow, stuffing the bowl of candied fruits into a secret cabinet, reaching out and grabbing a dusty gray book and turning it to a random page. She sat down cross-legged by the side of the table and nibbled on a pen as if in contemplation.

Lu Feng completed these set of actions like moving clouds and flowing water*. What Ji Shi saw when he entered the door was his daughter working hard studying, and immediately was very pleased.

(*very naturally)

“Xiao Feng,” Ji Shi sat down on the soft settee, and softly said : “Take a break, and talk to   father.”

Lu Feng pretended to turn the book to another page, and with a pen in her mouth, she vaguely stated: “Father quickly say what you want. I still have to review my lessons."

Ji Shi saw that Lu Feng was willing to focus on her studies, and the smile on his face became increasingly softer. As soon as he was about ready to praise her, Ji Shi caught a glimpse at the book in front of her.

Lu Feng was reading the book. It was reasonable to say that this time the characters were reversed. Ji Shi frowned, and after a closer look, he found that Lu Feng was looking at the book upside down!

“You tell me, the book is upside down, how did you review your lessons!” Ji Shi immediately grabbed the book and his other arm reached over, really wanting to beat her.

Lu Feng stumbled and jumped out of the settee with her head in her hands, knowing she was wrong, she shouted, “Father, I was wrong, I was wrong. You put the book down first. That is the lesson that I have to hand in to master. Years later I still have to go and hand it in, right!”

Ji Shi chased her around and couldn"t catch up with her. Giving up, he threw the book to Mutou, fiercely threatening the person smiling mischievously, “When your mother comes back, I"ll let her examine your lessons. If it"s not done, this year don"t count on having an easy time! “

After having said that Ji Shi left, apparently so angered, he forgot to ask Lu Feng about Ji Ruan.

“For aunt"s sake, am I easy? She has to understand if she still goes out of the Lu manor, she will have to buy me two packages of sweet candied fruits.” Burdened by Ji Shi"s words, she mumbled a few words to herself, took the book from Mutou"s arms, and went back into the room. After entering, she threw the book on top of the table. The person then climbed up a few small tables, took out the sweet candied fruits from the secret cabinet, and stuffed them into her mouth.

Lu Feng could guess what Ji Shi wanted to ask her, but since her aunt hadn"t told her father, she shouldn"t reveal it beforehand.

Counting her fingers, she began calculating when her mother would come back, and Lu Feng immediately did not feel like eating anymore sweet candied fruits. It would take her mother three more days before she would return to the capital. So many lessons, even if she didn"t sleep she wouldn"t be able to finish them all!

Lu Feng glanced at the lessons on the table, her eyes changed directions and she got out of the settee. She held the lessons in her arms, and allowed Mutou to stay in the courtyard to get some fresh air, and slipped out of the manor.

Lu Feng walked across the intersection to the vacant land at the corner of the street. Not too long afterwards, she spotted Xu Yu making a snowman with “radish heads“, and walked over.

Lu Feng placed her hand on Xu Yu"s shoulder, who had her head bowed to hold the snowman, squatting down the older brother* appeared to be embracing the other"s neck, and pulled the person to her indiscriminately, “Xu Yu.”

(*the author used the word "ge" – older brother. Doesn"t have to be blood related.)

The little radish heads were scared and dispersed in confusion, Xu Yu heard this voice and the hair on her body stood up, her round body shaking, “Lu… Lu Feng.”

Without waiting for Lu Feng to speak, Xu Yu took the initiative to explain: “I didn"t complain to your father. “

” … I"m not asking you about that,” Lu Feng looked up and looked around, seeing no one, she mysteriously took out the homework in her arms and asked: “Urgent Jianghu rescue, have you finished, lend to jie* to copy.”

(*jie – older sister)

Xu Yu let out a sigh in relief, and then said with a bitter face: “I also didn"t write it yet. This time my mother wanted to restrain me at home and said she"ll beat me if I go out. Barely just got out of the door.”

She picked up a handful of snow to add the snowman in front of her. Lu Feng looked at the snowman. Although the snowmen in the world are all the same, however, Xu Yu"s gave off a very refined sense. With a glance, she completed it by herself.

Lu Feng used the lesson to tap her hand, waiting to see her unhurriedly make a perfect snowman. She could not help but poke her with the book and suggested: “It"s boring to build a snowman, make a palace out of it.”

Xu Yu"s eyes lit up and then dimmed again, “A palace is too complicated, I can"t make it.”

Seeing her like this, Lu Feng"s hands began to itch, “If you don"t know how to do it,” Lu Feng threw her lessons aside, rolled up her sleeves to reveal her wrist, and said, “Let"s try it.”

Xu Yu immediately willingly agreed and excitedly walked over to the area with the most snow.

No one ever taught Xu Yu to do this, it was all based on her usual playfulness. Now, after listening to Lu Feng"s talk about the palace, she tried to recall the appearance of the imperial palace. Finding it difficult and settling for the next best thing, she asked Lu Feng, “Can I do a house first?”

Lu Feng responded while making a snowman without turning her head: “Up to you.”

Last night, fresh snow fell and no one had walked on it yet. The snow on the ground was soft and clean. Lu Feng crouched down on the side to roll a s...o...b..ll.

This was the scene that Xu Mu saw when he came over. Seeing the familiar back, the longing feeling of having not seen her in a few days slowly dissipated, and his heart became soft.

Ji Ruan went to “Sweet Taste” every day, her eyes always glued to his daddy. If Xu Mu could not see her thoughts about his father again, he had lived in vain for fourteen years. Not to mention that he had originally also been pursued by Lu Feng in exactly the same way.

Xu Mu did not feel at ease for Li Shi, and so he quietly observed Ji Ruan in the shop for two days. He was relieved to see that she was courteous and did not overstep Li Shi"s efforts, and had a better impression on her.

Ji Ruan came by at the exact time every afternoon, but not seeing Lu Feng beside her, he could not help but feel an achy pain and disappointment.

Xu Mu was afraid that Lu Feng was avoiding him because of that day, and couldn"t sleep for two days in a row. He couldn"t bear it today and asked Ji Ruan why Lu Feng did not come. Ji Ruan told him that Lu Feng was at the manor working on her lessons.

Xu Mu somewhat did not believe these words. Lu Feng would rather take the lessons and eat it, and also it was unlikely she would willing do it sincerely.

Ji Ruan gave her waist token to him and said it would permit him to go to the Lu manor to find Lu Feng to play. Xu Mu placed the waist token into his pocket, and because of his somewhat hesitation he did not go far when he caught sight of Lu Feng playing with Xu Yu in the snow.

“Little fat sheep, come here to play?” Lu Feng had her back turned to Xu Mu and therefore did not see him. Xu Yu saw him first and cheerfully beckoned to Xu Mu and asked him to come over.

Lu Feng hearing "little fat sheep" turned back curiously. She saw Xu Mu"s wide smiling face looking at her, a pair of beautiful peach eyes slightly curved, exposing two small dimples.

Lu Feng paused, seeing him smiling at her, she twitched her lips slightly at the corner of her mouth, which could be considered as a greeting. Then she turned her head back, and continued to build her snowman, disregarding him.

The bright smile on Xu Mu"s face immediately dimmed a bit, his hands clutched at the cuff of his sleeves, and stood there looking at Lu Feng"s back.

“Don"t be afraid of her,” Xu Yu ran over, her hands reaching over to pull Xu Mu"s, but he avoided her. Xu Yu didn"t mind if she wasn"t holding him. She pointed at white snow and asked him, “Want to play with the snow?”

Xu Mu looked at Lu Feng"s back and saw that she didn"t respond. He shook his head, looked around, and saw a book on the ground.

Xu Yu was disappointed because Xu Mu refused her suggestion, but when she saw him staring at the lesson book, she glanced over at Lu Feng and quietly while covering her mouth with her hand whispered, “That"s Lu Feng"s. She hasn"t written it yet.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Feng"s ears turned red and she turned around to glare at Xu Yu. She gritted her teeth and asked,” Are you done with your palace?”

Xu Yu then remembered that she had only made half of it. She reluctantly left the little fat sheep, and crouched not too far away to fiddle with her snow palace.

Xu Mu picked up the book, brushed off snow lying on top of it, and carried the book to squat down beside Lu Feng.

Lu Feng"s snowman was almost finished, but it lacked two eyes and one nose. She patted her body looking for copper or something she could use.

Xu Mu tilted his head and looked at the snowman. He pulled out a snow white handkerchief from his arms, a red maple leaf was embroidered on one corner, and inside there were some honey-colored candied fruits.

Xu Mu stuffed the candied fruits into the snowman"s head, and suddenly it turned into two eyes.

Lu Feng looked at him, looked at the handkerchief in his hands again, and finally looked at the snowman.

The two crouched silently in front of the piled snowman, and neither of them spoke.

Lu Feng stared at those two eyes of the snowman, her fingers moving, she couldn"t help wanting to pull out the candied fruits and gobble them up. Stopping herself, she got up to leave. When she was about to leave, a small hand held onto her clothes … …

When Lu Feng looked down, she saw Xu Mu looking up at her with his fair face and glossy lips. When he saw her looking, he softly stated, “My legs are numb.”

Lu Feng raised her eyebrows, looking at him with her arms crossed. Xu Mu"s eyes were explicit, reflecting his emotions, appearing as if in grievance.

Xu Yu heard him. She came over and squatted down, and said, “Then I"ll help you get up.”

Lu Feng looked down, her thick eyelashes covering her eyes. When she saw Xu Mu watching Xu Yu come over, her fingers tightly gripped subconsciously on her clothes, and her heart unexpectedly felt an indescribable sort of feeling.

Bending her back to Xu Mu and stooping down into a half squat, Lu Feng spoke casually: “Then I will carry you back. I just happen to be looking for my aunt.”

Xu Mu"s eyes opened up in joy, gently pursed his lips, and rested on top of her back. His small hands went around her neck, his face pressed against her back, smiling as if a fox eating meat.

Xu Yu stared dumbfoundedly to see Lu Feng walking away in the distance with him on her back. In astonishment, when did little overlord Lu change her character! She wouldn"t throw the little fat sheep on the ground halfway, would she?
