Sheila was about to sleep when she heard a knock on her door. It was Grandma Terry, who led her to sit on the side of the bed, as she held her hands."Dear, I noticed that you"ve been very quiet after hearing that Keira is from a rich family. I really do understand your sentiments, but I hope that you will let the kids decide on their future. They are old enough to handle things on their own," said Grandma Terry because she could feel that her daughter was not at ease about Keira"s background.
"I know that, Mom, that"s why I decided neither to be a hindrance nor to talk about it with Zach," she said as she narrated to her mother that she had already had a talk with Keira.
"I know. I can feel Keira"s heart and her sincerity towards Zach. But we all know things are not that simple. It"s always better said than done, especially, for someone like her who hasn"t experienced even a slight of hards.h.i.+p. You know how poverty and suffering can make a person change, drastically… Once they experience the pain, starve... be sick without a penny to go to a clinic? I can"t help but wonder if Keira will still be able to say that she will choose Zach over wealth…" Sheila voiced out her sentiments that she had avoided saying to Keira directly.
It"s their first meeting and as much as possible, she herself didn"t want to give the girl negative vibes on things. But she knew reality was always cruel.
Grandma Terry hugged her daughter. Of all people, Sheila was the one who truly knew how hard could be a struggle to survive for the poor.
"You did well. Let"s trust Zach more, daughter, shall we? Let him handle things and let"s just support him no matter what happens. Things do happen for a reason. If it"s meant to be, then it will happen and if it"s not, then maybe, there are much better things for our General. Don"t you agree?" she said as she gently stroked her daughter"s hair.
"Yes, Mother, I do understand," Sheila answered followed by a long, deep sigh. She"s a mother, and as a mother, at all costs, she wanted to keep her children away from experiencing any kind of suffering…
Oh, how she hoped that Keira would keep her word… and wouldn"t falter if trials come their way...
......…
The next morning, both Keira and Zach started their day together, as Zach showed her the land he currently owned.
Keira enjoyed watching herds of cattle and sheep on large tracts of land.
"Wow, look at Grandpa Shen in action," Keira murmured as Grandpa Shen, with their cowboys, worked with horses to herd cattle and sheep.
"This is so nice," Keira whispered as they joined Grandpa Shen and others.
"I know, right? I plan to settle here soon… with you..." Zach whispered in Keira"s ear.
But Keira did not hear it clearly because of the noise the animals were making.
"What?!" she asked shouting because she heard Zach was mumbling something in her ear.
"Nothing…" Zach answered instead, as he tightened the grip of his arm on Keira"s shoulder to reign Duke faster.
"Maybe, it"s too early to say that to Keira." Zach mused and decided to change the topic. He would eventually tell her everything about his plans for the future once all the things were settled.
They got ready after lunch to return back to the City because the next day Keira had to report at her work.
Inside the car, Zach held Keira"s hand as he murmured, "Is your hand okay?"
Keira"s eyes widened as she said, "Yeah, it"s okay… A bit numb, but it"s functional of course. Why, do you want another round? I can use my left…"
Zach burst out in a peal of loud laughter while driving because of how Keira"s answer enhanced with her serious face.
"What"s so funny?!" Keira exclaimed with pouted lips.
Zach kissed her hand and said, "Nothing… I asked if your hand is okay, as it can be tiring since you"ve never done such a thing before. But it doesn"t mean I want another round…"Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
Keira arched an eyebrow and mumbled, "Are you sure you don"t want another round?"
Zach could sense the teasing vibes in Keira tone, so he grinned and answered, "I"m not sure. I"ll think about it…"
"Think about it?!"
Keira"s mouth twitched because she could clearly recall how much Zach enjoyed her actions last night. Even his moaning was so loud and clear when he lovingly called her name several times.
"Did he fake all of that?" she mused full of doubts.
Zach enjoyed Keira"s conflicted look. He was throwing side glances at her every once in a while.
Then he kissed and bit her hand as he said, "I"m only teasing you, my dear falling star. I would love to experience it over and over again, but I don"t want to tire out your beautiful hands, besides, I"m not that demanding…"
This time, it was Keira who laughed.
"What?" Zach asked a bit confused but Keira blushed.
It was because she thought of another method that she had searched not to tire the hands, however, she was not that bold to say it out loud.
Zach might think she"s too perverted if she dared to mention something like that.
She changed the topic instead and said, "Tomorrow is a big day. War is coming."
"What?!" Zach asked. He looked confused and Keira chuckled.
"Nah, you don"t need to know but a reporter"s work, especially at the field, is not for the faint of heart. Television reporters must have strong perseverance, be able to look danger squarely in the face, be willing to work long hours, forego weekends, holidays and special occasions, and be ready to be on the road any moment. But I enjoyed watching them do it during my interns.h.i.+p. I always pictured myself, reporting the important news whether live or not," she said with a smile.
Then her face became serious as she added, "Though I"m not sure if the war would continue inside the newsroom I hope there won"t be…"
Keira felt Zach squeeze her hand as he said, "You are Keira Chan, remember?! You will absolutely nail it!"
