Keira quickly noticed Zach"s arrival. Her face reddened as her heartbeat raced."Geez, Keira, calm down please," she pleaded inwardly because as Zach was nearing, she felt like she would have a heart attack soon.
"The heck is wrong with your face, Keira? It"s like you"ve been slapped back and forth on both cheeks," May said teasingly.
Keira made face to May as she slightly bowed her head down to avoid any direct eye contact with Zach.
"I really can"t believe how Wolf seems to be taming a sly fox…" May did not stop teasing Keira because her friend"s timidness at that moment was one in a billion to happen.
"Shut up, May! I will give you half of my dinner if you just shut up," whispered Keira irritably as she tried to compose herself and control her blus.h.i.+ng.
May laughed and replied, "Alright, I am so easy to deal with, right, friends? Oh, I so enjoy this. I"m so food deprived that I am willing to tease you every now and then."
"Glutton, you"ll soon become one of my apparitions if you don"t stop," teased Keira in return.
May twitched her mouth and said, "It"s better to focus on eating, rather than get sick with too much love. Ewww, it"s like a disease worse than being a glutton."
"Alright, soldiers, get grouped in circles!" shouted Sergeant Park. Drey grouped with Keira and the rest plus other male soldiers near their spot.
They were going to be instructed by skilled and certified close quarter combat instructors that would train them through hours of simulated combat conditions.
Zach who was roaming around with Torin as they observed each training paused at Keira"s group.
"Basic hand to hand combat training stresses simple aggressive tactics to subdue an opponent. It consists of various kicks, blows, takedowns, counters and other movements used to disable or kill an opponent," continued the instructor who called for a soldier.
Zach interrupted and positioned at the center.
"You, soldier Russo, come out here!" Zach instructed.
May and Lana exchanged meaningful glances while Keira bit her lip as she stared open-mouthed at Zach"s manly and authoritative posture.
"Close it. You"re drooling too much. Do you like that Zach?" it was Trish that almost startled Keira.
"Hey, I did not notice you. Huh? Like? I"m just amazed at how close combat looks like in real life you know," Keira answered smiling, as she wanted to hit her head for being too obvious.
Trish looked at Zach then at Keira. She was observing Keira for days already and she had noticed that she seemed to be making a lot of glances, more of stealing glances to General Lim that she found very suspicious.
"I s.h.i.+fted when Drey went there," Trish murmured with a smile and the two listened and watched at General Lim carefully as he took over the instructor.
"This is how you do ground grappling," Zach started as he began his movement at Drey who was caught off guard.
"When you get down and start rolling (grappling), you can take your time. You know what your next step has to be," continued Zach as he was on top of Drey who was in a bad position.
"Oooohhh," commented the soldiers as if they felt Drey"s pain who was at a disadvantage.
Torin who wanted to laugh as he watched how Zach was torturing Drey in every position: the poor guy literally became Zach"s live demo and he was sure it was intentional.
"That"s what they say a devil in disguise," he mused with a twitched facial expression.
"Look at those moves. He would surely give that Russo a body pain," Torin muttered.
Meanwhile, Keira bit her lip as she gawked at Zach, then her eyes went down to his full lips.
Those luscious lips...
"What luscious? Stop it, Keira!" she reprimanded herself.
But it was so hard for her not to imagine what happened last night. She could still feel that she was on cloud nine.
She was so startled when May whispered in her ear, "Look what you did, giggling around with Drey, see how his bones will crack soon."
"Ohh, isn"t it how a hand to hand combat should be?" Keira mumbled because she got what May was trying to instill.
"You must learn a range of defensive escape techniques to help them get into a dominant position in a close combat fight then you will learn offensive skills. Take out an enemy effectively! Understood, soldiers?" shouted Zach as his body was still pressed hard on Drey.
"Aye, General!" answered the soldiers in chorus.
After the basics, they moved on to more difficult standing techniques and Zach continued his demo with Drey.
"Remember, fighting strategies and combats have three key steps: close the distance! Gain the dominant position! And finish the fight!" shouted Zach.
"Aye, General," replied the soldiers but Keira"s voice roared above all.
Lana and May looked at her like Keira was already a hopelessly lost case.
"It"s the key stages for combat, Keira, and not for conquering someone," May mumbled.
Keira grinned as she stuck her tongue out at May and whispered, "It"s not bad, May. Those key steps are also applicable in wholly conquering someone, don"t you think so? Close the distance, gain the dominant position and most importantly finish the fight!"
"Poor Wolf, he gave a piece of good advice that will be applied to him too," May mused.
