The event was absolutely one of the world"s most extravagant, elegant and frivolous birthday celebrations.
All the guests wore their baroque-styled costumes. The guests were also required to wear half masks during the whole night and were only allowed to remove them by midnight. It was a masquerade party after all.
Keira was with Lana and May in the dressing room. She bit her lip out of nervousness.
"Give me a hint if you see him," she said and show to the girls Zach"s costume photo which was sent by Monique.
May shook her head and said, "Oh my gosh, totally blended for your gown. Aren"t you too obvious? Gosh, surely head over heels Keira is back."
Lana laughed and added, "It"s because the General is back, May. Oh, my poor second male syndrome."
Speaking of Jeru, he arrived at the dressing room, holding a bouquet of beautiful flowers.
"I should start calling you "flower boy" because you always bring me those pretty flowers. Thank you," Keira said smiling as she accepted the flowers.
"Alright, Miss Keira, get ready… You will enter the reception hall in three minutes," reminded the coordinator.
Keira was left in the room alone, then her dad and mom entered to pick her up.
"Ready?" asked Field Marshal Chan.
Keira hooked her arms with theirs, her mom on the left side while her dad was on the right.
"This already feels like a wedding," Mrs. Chan commented in a jest.
"But the groom is still missing, darling," answered Field Marshal Chan as they walked.
Keira smiled mischievously because deep in her heart she already had her groom…
The crowd gasped in admiration as the celebrant made her entrance.
Keira wore a Disney style royal ball dress that really captured Keira"s confident att.i.tude and independent spirit.
It was a fuchsia strapless dress with lace-up back. The heart-shaped bodice was encrusted with a lovely beaded design made of real Swarovski crystals and the full ruffled skirt was designed like blooming flowers.
Her breathtaking appearance was finished up with an elegant mask covered with sparkling Swarovski crystals.
She looked like a stunning princess on her special day.
Keira wore her most glamorous smile that night to welcome all the people who were greeting her.
All of her guests were from well-known and respected families. So, only the chosen few trusted media people were invited because Keira wanted to maintain her privacy.
Field Marshall Chan walked towards the Kens" table and greeted Old Master Ken.
"Looks like your son is already chained by a beautiful lady. I"m actually more at ease to face you now since my daughter can surely be bothersome. I am sure she would have given your son a headache if the marriage proposal was to be pursued further..." he said in a kind and joking manner.
Old Master Ken laughed and stood up to hug the Field Marshall.
"Haha, you know how I wanted to be connected with your family. But I guess it was not fated to be," Old Master Ken answered smiling.
The two men talked for some time, then Field Marshal Chan saw familiar silhouettes enter the hall so he excused himself to greet them.
"Sir," Zach said and slightly bowed to Field Marshal Chan, Torin did the same.
Field Marshal Chan chuckled, seeing Zach"s costume.
"I never thought that a touch of fuschia would look so good on a man," complimented Field Marshal Chan with a grin because Zach"s costume complimented Keira"s gown very well.
It was a baroque-styled fuchsia jacquard tailcoat with silver embroidery, crystals on Mao collar, finished up with a crystal brooch.
"I know, right, Sir… I think only Zach can pull that color so well. Sorry, Sir, if we are a bit late. We should greet the celebrant…" Torin explained as he looked around for Keira and of course, for her friends.
"Keira was roaming around to greet the guests… Go and help yourselves, guys. I will also need to greet more guests.." said Field Marshal Chan as he left the two.
Music began to play…
Zach had finally seen Keira at the center of the dance floor as Field Marshal Chan invited her for the first dance.
"Wow, Bro… You and Keira are a match made in heaven," murmured Torin as he looked at Keira then looked back at Zach. Meanwhile, Zach also looked back at Torin who coughed and added, "I mean the costume, didn"t you notice?"
Zach had surely noticed it but thought that it was only a coincidence since they had the same designer.
"Bro, there"s a long line, do you think we will get a chance to dance with them?" asked Torin a little bit surprised.
After a while, two women pulled them at the center to dance. It was May and Lana…
"How are you, General? It"s me, Lana, Keira"s friend." Said Lana smiling as they swayed to the music and Lana seemed to be moving closer to Keira"s spot.
"Oh, you recognized me?" Zach murmured.
"Ahh, yeah. Ahm, Field Marshal Chan uhm told us to entertain you guys while he is busy… So, he showed you to us a while ago," Lana explained.
May, who was close to them, sighed… She was thankful that it was Lana who pulled Zach because she was not good at making up an alibi on the spot like that.
"Wait, I think me and Bro must swap," on the other side, Torin muttered a complaint that made May chuckle as she swayed a bit farther from Lana.
"Sorry, Lieutenant, but it was Lana who chose to pull General Zach. Don"t worry, she will soon let him go. Maybe, you can catch her. I can let you go now. I hate dancing anyway." Answered May as she suddenly let go of Torin and cheekily grinned.
She had to pull Torin to the dancefloor too, to avoid the meticulous observation of Old Madam Hitler who was also present at the event.
It was Keira"s request because she did not want to let her guard down, especially now that Jeru was close to her. She felt that Old Madam Hitler would use this opportunity for her plans.
Now that the mission was accomplished, May could focus on the food she was drooling over since she had entered the ballroom: everything looked sooo tasty.
Meanwhile, Lana moved closer to Keira who was now dancing with Jeru.
"Let"s swap partners. Let me dance with the das.h.i.+ng General Jeru tonight..." Lana said to Keira as she swayed closer to her.
Jeru laughed because he obviously recognized Lana"s voice.
"He"s all yours!" Keira answered as she quickly pulled herself out of Jeru"s arms.
Lana did the same and let go of Zach.
She almost laughed when Zach instantly pulled Keira into his embrace in a swift movement like he was afraid someone would s.n.a.t.c.h Keira away from him.
"Who"s that?" Jeru asked Lana afterward.
"Uhm, I"m not sure. I was asked to have a dance, so I accepted. I forgot to ask him who he was." Lana answered nonchalantly.
It seemed that Jeru hadn"t recognized Zach because of the outfit and the mask the latter was wearing. Perhaps, if it wasn"t for the outfit, he would have recognized Zach.
She suddenly wondered what would Jeru do if she told him that it was General Zach whom Keira was dancing with at that moment…
