It was weekend and on early morning, Don Samuelle decided to take his breakfast on an elite exclusive café. He sat on one corner then, his food laid neatly on the table before him while he was reading some newspapers. Although he took his retirement early, Don Samuelle did not cease being a busy man and weekends, as peaceful as he had right then, weren"t ordinary.

He was still reading trough the newspapers headlines when he felt that someone was watching him and with a little effort he had found the culprit. Don Samuelle lowered the newspaper and found a familiar little girl standing at his table.

"Oh h.e.l.lo grumpy grandpa," It was obvious from the girl"s expression that she was also surprise to see him yet she flushed a sweet smile.

"It"s you again," Don Samuelle withdrew his eyes away immediately from the girl and dragged it to the cold coffee that was sitting on his table. He decided to take a sip without giving the girl much acknowledgement. The café where he was in was located on a street that only elites are allowed to go, so he went there alone without a butler or a bodyguard as it was a safe place and he wanted some privacy.

"Well yeah, it"s me. What a coincidence, we met again for the second time," She wittingly spoke, her smiles became bigger, not slightly affected at Don Samuelle"s cold welcome.

Don Samuelle did not anymore respond and just ignored the child although at the corner of his eyes he was observing her. She remained standing on the same spot, unmoved, as if there was something she needed from him. After a long silence, Don Samuelle got a bit annoyed and turned to look at the child.

"Do you need something?" He asked while his head formed lines.

"Good question," The girl replied. She came closer to Don Samuelle"s table, "You see I wanted to offer a deal,"

"Deal?" Don Samuelle got curious. Just by listening to her, he can already tell she was smart beyond her years although it was too early for him to pa.s.s judgement on her personality. But one thing was sure, the girl got some unrefined guts. Does she even have an idea who he was?

"Yes, a deal," The girl repeated, "You see I have special likes to the deserts this store offers but my favourite desert had been sold out before I can buy one and you were the one who bought the last piece,"

Don Samuelle looked at the food in his table prepared for him by the waiter few minutes ago. He didn"t remember what he ordered yet indeed, he found a piece of cake on one side waiting to be eaten fully.

"You mean this cake?" He asked the girl and she nodded immediately. Truth be told, Don Samuelle didn"t like children at most and with all his grandchildren, only one captured his heart. However, as soon as his lovely wife died, his relations.h.i.+p with that grandchild too faded away too quickly before he could even miss it and the child standing in front of him, begging for a piece of cake kind of remind him of all the good days. That probably was the reason why, even though he hated children, he cannot shoo away the child in front of him.

"What are you gonna offer me in exchange for it?" Don Samuelle intentionally prolonged their so called deal.

"A profit. You are a businessman so I know you will be expecting some kind of profit from what you wanted to sell off," The girl answered confidently. "I"ll buy the cake double of its price,"

"And what makes you think I"m a businessman?"

"You are rich, you said it yourself the last time we meet. In this this district, only businessmen are rich,"

Don Samuelle arched a brow at the girl"s smart tongue, "I only said I"m rich but I didn"t say I"m a businessman,"

"Well I just know that you are. The old ones who get a members.h.i.+p in that golf club mostly consist of retired businessmen and I am pretty sure you are one of them," She continued reasoning. "So can I have the cake? If you like talking to me then better asked me to sit with you so I can start eating my cake. You see, I"m in famish,"

Don Samuelle let go of his newspaper and made a sign for the girl to sit on his table. The girl was smart, and although looking after a child wasn"t his cup of tea, the girl however was good at conversation and since Don Samuelle was quite entertained, he intended to spend his breakfast time with her.

"You can have the cake," Don Samuelle told her and the girl started a hasty bite right away. Seeing how the child was delightfully ravis.h.i.+ng the cake, Don Samuelle turned to the counter and made a cue to call for a waiter.

"Get her some juice," He told the waiter who came to accommodate his order. The latter nod and left immediately leaving Don Samuelle staring at the girl with much curiosity.

"This part of town is exclusive to the residents of an elite subdivision so I a.s.sume you must be from one of the residences here," He stated, trying to get some information from her.

"Yep." The girl answered, then took another mouthful bite. Although she was eating with big bites, the girl was all too mindful of table etiquettes so Don Samuelle can tell she"s an elite, the only question left was that, from what family does she belong?

"You are wondering from what family I belong to," The girl said between her bites as she studied Don Samuelle"s expression.

"Well I am," The old chairman answered, "I wonder what types of parents leave their children alone,"

"The type of parents who encourage independence" She answered with pride, "Just admit you wanted to know my background that"s why you wanted to know whose child I am,"

"Maybe I am," Don Samuelle replied.

"Well we are kind of new here," She told. "So I"m sure you don"t know my family,"

"New in this place?"

"New in this country to be precise,"

"hmmmm… that"s seems hard to believe," Don Samuelle thought, "As you see the golf club that you went to, the one where we met has very strict rules in their members.h.i.+p. They do not just allow anyone to be a member right away so I"m sure whoever your parents are, they are locals here,"
