It was another long day, and Ziggy arrived one evening a little after six. He went directly upstairs and took a shower, brushed his teeth and turned to stare narcissistically in the mirror. He gave himself a hard gaze, his jaw tightened in determination.Tonight is the night! He nodded to himself.
He fixed his hair and turned to his wardrobe. He was doing his level best to look attractive and wore one of his favorite suits that Xhemin chose for him once. She said he looked fine-looking on it and the color suited him well.
He was really in a good mood and tonight he was going out for a date. After exhausting himself fully with hospital rounds for several days, he thought he needed sometime to loosen up a bit. Also, this date was quite special, something that he looked forward to have.
It was actually his first move on getting even with his body guard. So this date was the beginning of Sam"s defeat and he can"t wait to see the look in her face at the end of the night.
When Ziggy was satisfied on how he looked, he hurriedly ran down stairs. He halted in the foot of the stairs and composed himself fully, trying to act as the n.o.ble Young Sire of a significant family, which he rarely does. He needed to pretend that he was up to nothing so that Sam won"t suspect anything.
He walked pa.s.s the living room, where Sam was and pa.s.sed through her without sparing her a glance. "I"m leaving for tonight."
Sam wasn"t surprised at all. She actually wondered earlier why the Young Sire ended his s.h.i.+ft a little early and by then she knew he had another schedule up for tonight. In an instant she followed him not waiting for his instruction whether she was allowed to come or not. It had already been a settled rule that wherever her master goes, she needed to tail on him.
Her master alerted the apartment"s security and open up the garage. He went into his car and turned the engine on. Of course Sam hoped in without waiting for Ziggy"s approval; which was rather unusual. Ziggy always nagged about her following him everywhere. However tonight, he let her tallied behind without any word of protest.
"Odd" Sam thought referring to Ziggy"s atypical behavior. She caught his eyes on the rear view mirror staring at her rigidly, so she brushed off the indifference in her face instantly.
"We are dropping by a local store first. I just need to get something" Ziggy said in a rather friendlier tone.
"Up to you Young Sire" She answered courteously. She almost raised a brow on him. Since when did the famous Ziggorio Montreal become considerate?
Sam thought maybe she should throw a thanksgiving party today. First; her master did not nag at her for trailing behind and second; suddenly he become polite. Wasn"t this too much of a change for just a day? Where were they going anyway?
Few minutes on the road and the car rolled on a flower shop and it came to a stop on a park area intended for the store"s customers.
"Just wait for me in here" Ziggy said before heading out.
Sam can do nothing but grimaced when Ziggy exited. She went out the car too even when she was told not to and walked to the store"s front door. She was his body guard, so she must not let him out of sight. She saw him talk to the counter and waited for a bit. A little later they handed him a bunch of fresh flowers; roses in blood red.
Ziggy was about to exit from the store when he saw Sam at the door. The front part of the store was all covered with gla.s.s so he could see everything from the outside. The girl"s green eyes were on him as if he was something she could not take her eyes off. Ziggy thought how faithful this bodyguard of him on her job, and that"s something worthy of admiration; but not from him, because he had nothing for the girl but hatred.
"You don"t really listen to me, don"t you?" he said when stepped out, a little irritated but he chose to contain it.
"Just making sure you are safe" Sam answered, in a neutral professional tone as she always did.
Ziggy looked at the girl from head to foot and remembered how she looked feminine and fragile yesterday at the garden. He shook his head in disgust but made sure that the feeling did not make it through his face for Sam to see.
Ziggy slid into the car again followed by Sam. At the car seat, Ziggy hold onto the bunch of flowers and pore over them carefully. One bunch is composed of thirteen flowers and he needed only twelve to make a perfect bouquet. So he selected the least beautiful pick and decided to dispose it. He rolled down his car"s window and was about to throw the flower away to the garbage he saw few inches from his car.
"Young Sire, my grandmother said that flowers have karma. I"m sure if you throw one just because it wasn"t good enough for your bouquet will bring bad luck" Sam cautioned.
"Bad luck?"
"You don"t want to bring bad luck to a date right?"
"How did you know I was going out on a date?" Ziggy suddenly panicked. Did she already know about his plan all along?
"Were else would a man go when he is on his best suit and with a bunch of pretty flowers?"
"Oh right...right." Ziggy nodded. He was relieved that she still had no idea at all.
"Well I can"t have thirteen roses in a bouquet. It"s also a sign of bad luck" He declared "If that"s the case then… maybe you should have this one. My gift for your hard work"
Sam looked at Ziggy"s hand reaching out a flower to her. For a while, she did nothing but blinked upon it. The young sire"s action caught her off handed. No man had given her flowers before.
"What"s wrong?" Ziggy asked when she noticed Sam didn"t move at all.
