"The first one is done" She said still in a low voice. "But we aren"t finished yet because there will be two more"

After the first shot of dose, Xhemin played with the horse"s hair as they were very soft and tender to touch. The horse was very weak, but its eyes showed some hope and trust for the strangers who were easing out his pain. In normal days, the horse doesn"t let anyone touch him yet for tonight since he was very weak to protest the stranger"s touches, he kind of grew a sense of trust when he realized he was feeling better with what they were doing.

"They should have listened to you when you ask them not to let the horse drink with water" Dr. Cyan bubbled while Xhemin was playing with the horse"s hair. The horse was lying still but it eyes followed Xhemin"s movement.

"Well, they didn"t, and we are in no position to request it from them" Xhemin answered recalling the incident she had with the stable master "The stable master almost grope me when I told him, didn"t he?"

"That guy was a moron. He knew nothing of the Staw disease" Dr. Cyan spitted. He didn"t mind calling the stable master names. Aside from the fact that the guy deserves such name call, it was only then he could express his true sentiments without getting into trouble.

"But he has the power all over the barn as you say. So, with that Dr. Piper Xu who did nothing but to make our lives here in the barn miserable" Xhemin trailed off. Recognizing that Dr. Cyan was very comfortable criticizing their nemesis, she let go of her sentiments too.

"That doctor was so messed up. I don"t even know how she managed to fool everyone that it was she who made the cure. If only we could tell the world that it"s you" Dr. Cyan exhales long and hard, his voice traveling swiftly under his exhaustion. He didn"t know what made him too tired tonight, could it be the long hours of work he volunteered in this afternoon or doctor Piper Xu"s constant reproached.

"Let"s dare not or my grandfather will forever banish me from our home" She reminded him.

"You can stay in Woodbridge"

"Seriously?" Xhemin couldn"t help but narrow her ink eyes at him.

"I was just kidding" He gave her big a smile knowing how she would react. He knew how the girl wanted to go home and how she missed her entire family. Although Woodbridge is a good place to visit, still nothing beats the comfort of home.

"I hope everything goes well with this one" Dr. Cyan added to change their topic.

"Well let"s hope so or else our lady boss is doomed"

"The laborers said the Lagdameo heir showed up this afternoon" He chuckled before a sudden fear took roots inside Dr. Cyan"s limbs and it spread through the coldness of the night, given wings by the conversation he just opened up to the girl.

The first time he heard about it from Xhemin, he had doubts that a Lagdameo horse was nested here but when the laborers described how the heir showed up and ended up frightening everyone without a word, even he couldn"t help but worry about the horses that died.

"Really?" Xhemin answered as if she knew nothing about it. So, the beast was still here?

"They were talking about it while disposing the horses. Seems that your guts are right" The doctor added hiding completely his fear by letting go a deep sigh before he could say such words.

"Well good thing we had prepared beforehand" the girl said dryly but Dr. Cyan didn"t notice this.

The doctor was still lost on his thoughts about the Lagdameo heir having connection with this farm. He thought having Lagdameo"s around will make Xhemin more prune to danger specially because she was the true inventor of the cure. Dr. Cyan thought that because of the sudden change of circ.u.mstance, he should take Xhemin out before something messes up.

"I have already mastered the formula little Miss. So, after this one, I think I can already manage. I don"t want to trouble you further so with your study with the herbs" He said in his attempt to make her leave.

"It"s not really a big deal to me. Also, this is for my peace of mind. I don"t think I can go on knowing I didn"t give these horses some chance even if I know the cure" Not getting the real intention of the doctor, Xhemin answered carefully.

"Thank you. But I guess I had held you longer than I promised here. Just give me some time, I"ll have some ways to let you in the exclusive herbs section so you can add them up to your research" he insisted.

Although he would gladly prefer for the girl to be beside him, knowing how many elites found their way to this place alarmed him greatly. It will only take one unlucky day to messed up something they carefully planned for.

"No hurry, I don"t really think I can go back to Hamps.h.i.+re earlier than I was supposed to. I still have a couple of weeks to stay here so we have all the time to wait for the perfect chance" Xhemin answered.

There was silence after and Xhemin busied herself preparing her next dose for the stallion.

"Okay now, let"s get you another shot buddy" She said right after and the two stayed in the barn for few more minutes until they finished the last shot. Dr. Cyan made few stretches before he and Xhemin head out the barn carefully and closed the door.

Then the stillness of the night covered the whole place and when there was nothing there but sound of insect"s song in the midnight, Darryl unmounted from the tree nearby and went in to see his horse.

He stopped at the same pen the two intruders stayed in few minutes ago and saw his horse lying idly on the ground. It was still weak, but its breathing was steady now than it was in the afternoon. He kneeled and caress its skin the way Xhemin did earlier.

"Seems like you are not to say goodbye to me yet" he said before he sat completely to the ground and held his pet to his arms. Like the two, he stayed on that position for couple of minutes and left without a trace afterwards.
