“Are you saying that they are targeting me?” hearing this, Jin Xiangdong squinted at Jason.
“Who else do you think? The hacker was showing off his skill by deleting the surveillance record in just a few minutes and we are the only persons Professor Lu and Su Han know out of the whole IT industry. It seems that someone wants to challenge you.” Jason told Jin Xiangdong as he tapped Jin Xiangdong’s shoulder.
“Challenge me?”
“I haven’t seen such a genius for a long time. Are you excited?” seeing Jin Xiangdong’s expression, Jason was growing increasingly excited.
It was true that Jin Xiangdong was excited seeing such a genius. Although he did not think that his program was perfect, he was highly admired and respected in the IT industry. The program that he wrote was regarded as perfect and invulnerable. However, Jin Xiangdong knew that there was still a lot of room for improvement. Unfortunately, humans were not capable of achieving it currently.
“Perhaps, this may not be as simple as you have surmised.” Jin Xiangdong was not very positive about this incident.
“This is just a warning!” As soon as Jin Xiangdong finished his words, he heard the sound of keyboard typing and a line of red font appeared on the screen.
Jason’s jaw dropped in shock, his eyes fixed at the notebook screen.
Jin Xiangdong gave a large gasp of surprise. His notebook was secured with the best security system and had never been invaded before. The hacker’s skill was stunning.
“Warning? Who are you?” Jin Xiangdong suddenly blurted out.
“It doesn’t matter who I am, the most important thing is that you’ve messed with the wrong person!” snother line appeared on the screen.
“Who did I mess with?” Jin Xiangdong asked.
However, there was no answer to his question and the notebook returned to normal.
The s.p.a.cious living room sank into an eerie silence. The thing that happened just now was like a distant dream.
“Your notebook was hacked?” Jason rubbed his eyes and stared at the notebook.
As compared to Jason who was still lost in bewilderment, Jin Xiangdong was calm and composed in his physical appearance. However, the incident had caused a storm deep in his heart.
“I am asking you.” not getting Jin Xiangdong’s response, Jason pushed him slightly.
“The hacker is a genius indeed.” Jin Xiangdong stared at the notebook as he said coldly.
“It’s real. Your notebook is truly hacked!” Jason said.
Jin Xiangdong did not respond and merely placed the notebook on his lap. He flicked his slender fingers as they danced across the keyboard. Jin Xiangdong was tracing the hacker, but he could only detect a few virtual IP addresses.
As the tracing was fruitless, Jin Xiangdong went through the program copied from Amy’s system again. After Jason decoded the program, Jin Xiangdong found a virus that was inputted seamlessly into the program.
Standing at the side, Jason finally beheld Jin Xiangdong’s preeminent skill as he did not even realise that there was a virus when he decoded the program.
“Hurry up! Take a look at the files in your notebook and check if the files were copied,” Jason said.
Jin Xiangdong did not check, but stared silently at the screen. Seeing Jin Xiangdong did not respond, Jason took the notebook away, and checked it on his own.
Jin Xiangdong paid no regard to Jason, leaned back on the sofa and sank into contemplation.
“Fortunately, there is no sign of the files being copied.” Jason breathed a sigh of relief after he finished checking.
Jin Xiangdong did not think the checking was necessary as the hacker was so powerful that he could even invade his notebook, let alone copying the files. At this moment, his mind was full of the words of the mysterious hacker.
“Ace, you need to archive your notebook completely.”Jason closed the notebook.
Still, Jin Xiangdong did not utter a word. Jason looked at him and started talking about the incident just now.
“Warning—would it be your compet.i.tor?” Jason asked.
Of the whole artificial intelligence industry, there were not many technology companies that were capable of competing with BUA. As for the skill, BUA was no doubt the top of the industry.
“The main purpose the hacker hacked into my notebook was that I messed with the wrong person.” Jin Xiangdong said.
“Who did you mess with recently?” Jason lost in wonder.
Jin Xiangdong shook his head. He had always been keeping a small circle of friends and only the key personnel would liaise with him in his company. The rest was handled by Jason. In other words, the public only knew that Jason was the senior officer of BUA but they knew nothing about Jin Xiangdong.
“Would it be…” Jason suddenly said as something crossed his mind.
Jin Xiangdong looked at Jason. It seemed that he was of the same thought.
“Professor Lu is the only person you got to know recently,” Jason said.
“What does this phantom hacker have to do with Jia’er?” Jin Xiangdong nodded, his eyes filled with doubts.
“Could Professor Lu be involved in industrial espionage?” Jason asked.
“Don’t make wild blind guesses without evidence,” Jin Xiangdong retorted.
It was natural that Jin Xiangdong would defend Lu Jia’er as she was his girlfriend after all. It was fine if Lu Jia’er was not an Industrial spy. However, if Jason was right, Jin Xiangdong had truly fallen into a honey trap.
“I will check it out,” Jason said.
“Don’t mess around.” Jin Xiangdong stopped Jason.
“Your notebook was hacked. It’s not something trivial.” Jason reminded Jin Xiangdong anxiously. If Lu Jia’er was truly an industrial spy, they are finished.
Naturally, Jin Xiangdong knew that it was a severe matter. However, when he recalled the things that had happened ever since he met Lu Jia’er, he could not agree with Jason’s a.s.sumption.
“I will give her a call to check the update on the police investigation,” Jin Xiangdong said.
“It has always been the most difficult decision to make between a woman and one’s career.” Jason merely patted Jin Xiangdong’s shoulders.
“I know what I am supposed to do.” Jin Xiangdong took a glance at Jason and opened his notebook.
As soon as Jin Xiangdong finished his words, Ake walked out from the study after it completed its charging.
“Master! Jason! you are back!” Seeing Jason and Jin Xiangdong sitting in the living room, it quickly rushed toward them.
“Ake, I am thirsty, take me a gla.s.s of iced juice.” Jason asked Ake to get him a drink as soon as he saw Ake.
“Okay. Master, any drink for you?” Ake did not forget to ask Jin Xiangdong.
“Get me a cup of water,” Jin Xiangdong said with the notebook in his hands.
“Are you trying to destroy the virus?” After Ake went to the kitchen, Jason leaned over as he asked.
“Yup,” Jin Xiangdong answered.
Sitting next to Jin Xiangdong, Jason did not talk further and stared quietly at Jin Xiangdong who was decoding the virus that the phantom hacker created.
As the night fell on the city, the living room was brightly lit.
Ake went to the study after it finished preparing the meal. Seeing Jason and Jin Xiangdong were buried in their own computers as if they were busy with something, it knocked at the door. It seemed like Ake had missed out on a lot of things when it was charging. However, Jin Xiangdong did not tell Ake anything about it.
“Master and Jason, dinner is ready.” Ake walked near the table.
Not seeing any response from both of them, Ake merely blinked its eyes and walked out obediently.
“Ake, bring my food here.” before it reached the door, Jason called out at Ake.
“Master told me before that the dining room is for dining and the bedroom is for sleeping.” Ake turned to look at Jason who was still staring at the notebook.
“I am nearly starved to death. Don’t worry about the rules set by your master, he wouldn’t bother. Bring the food in.” Hearing Ake, Jason said. His eyes were still fixing at the screen.
“Master, is that alright?” Ake blinked its eyes and asked.
“No.” Jin Xiangdong answered. His eyes were also staring at the notebook.
“Jason, go and have your dinner first.” before Jason responded, Jin Xiangdong said in a low voice.
“Let’s eat together,” Jason could not help but stop his work as he stretched his body.
“No, I am not hungry.” Jin Xiangdong was staring at the notebook, his fingers were still tapping at the keyboard.
“You can’t do this on an empty stomach,” said Jason.
Jin Xiangdong did not respond. Jason could not do anything so he got up and walked out of the study.
Both Jin Xiangdong and Jason were totally worn out after working for the whole day to decode the virus. However, they had not been successful. Hence, it had awakened a strong desire within them to destroy the virus.
Jason’s had revived his energy after eating the food prepared by Ake.
It was said that AI was the start of a revolution and programmers were about to dominate the world. However, it was not easy. From writing to decoding the program, the mind was as if a wind turbine that kept turning incessantly. It was extremely exhausting!
“Ake, take a cup of warm milk into the study for your master,” Jason said. He knew that when Jin Xiangdong was working, he would forget about food and drink as if a master who was meditating.
