The God World

Chapter 7

"h.e.l.lo, I"m Daniel. The Dener town protector. Nice to meet you, "savior"." Daniel said with a smile.

"Um, h.e.l.lo?" Roy was stunned. He hadn"t thought he would complete that simple quest with a better rating than SSL. He had know about higher ratings, but he still didn"t think he could achieve them. But to meet your town"s protector, that would be something unimaginable, even with a better quest rank.

Quests were divided by rank (difficulty), that corresponded with the difficulty bonus. And completion rank, which corresponded with reward, or reward bonus. This way, a quests rank, and completion rank, were categorized by letters. These also have a + and - category. The rankings are: G, F, E, D, C, B, and A. There"s also the super rankings: S, SS, SSS. Then legendary: L, SL, SSL. And X for maximum: X, SX, and SSX, that"s the highest anyone knows.

"Heh, you don"t have too be so tense!" Daniel said, in a warm and friendly tone.

"No no, I"m sorry. It"s just, that I didn"t think I"d have the honor to meet our town"s protector, is all." Roy said, a little nervously.

"Well, please come to my office."

"uh, yeah. Sure." They quietly left. Daniel"s office was on the top floor of town hall, so it they would arrive quickly.

Town halls were usually built like giant medieval tower, that had something like a circle shaped dome at the bottom.

When they got inside, Daniel asked "We"ll talk about the reward later. For now, I"ll ask... How long did it take to kill every [Skeleton] on the fields?"

Roy thought for a while, and said "About a day"s time." He didn"t include the "It"s my first day here" part, because that would cause some trouble for him. He could just say that he was with a party, but then the party wouldn"t leave him when the rare monsters came.

Of course, Daniel knew that someone had been rallying all the [Skeleton], but he didn"t think that they would be killed by him.

"You know... Those low level monsters really helped some blessed people (not NPCs) level up. Now they would have to spend more time venturing further to either get to other low level areas, heavily risk dying in higher level ares, or spend a nice amount of money hiring adventurers to "boost" them." Daniel said with a solemn face.

"er... I... didn"t,"

"I didn"t think about that... Sorry!" Roy said, a little embarra.s.sed. How couldn"t he think of that?! He had such high INT, and yet...

*sigh*

"It"s fine. This did bring some good changes too. For example, the trade route will prosper better, without the menace bugging and killing low leveled transporting groups."

"Also," he said after some thinking, "people who want to enter higher level areas, and go to our local dungeon won"t have to go through that trouble." He said with a, trying to be, comforting smile.

"yeah... I"m really sorry! If I can do anything, just ask of me!" Roy said, determined to help out, if it was within his reach.

"Well, maybe, in the near future, we"ll be... never mind." Daniel wanted to say, that they would be renovating the road to the next town. But since blessed people started showing up again, 60 years ago, things have been going smoothly, and they wouldn"t need to do that. Blessed people took many jobs, helped as adventurers, and even helped the town grow. The trade route was polished, so the rides weren"t b.u.mpy. They had guards and patrol groups stationed every so often. So the monsters were really just a minor inconvenience.

*...*

They sat in silence for a while.

[Achievement Got: Town Protectors Friend?

You were seen walking to Daniel"s office, and the news spread. Dener town Reputation will increase by 100.]

"Maybe, this could change the topic a little." Roy thought.

[Congratulations: Dener Citizenship

You have become a Dener citizen, because of having +100 Dener RP.]

"Since you"ve become a citizen, I won"t trouble you any longer. After all, if we don"t give our people this much freedom, how could we be community." Daniel"s att.i.tude suddenly changed. It was because Roy became a citizen, but still. Roy didn"t know how to react, so he got up, and tried to leave.

"Oh, and hey. If you"ll need some help in the future, just give the receptionist this card. I"ll come by anytime, if I"m free..."

"Thanks, and goodbye." Roy took the card. He fiddled with it as he walked downstairs. It was a silver card, with the words "Dener Town Protector"s Calling"

"Calling? What does that mean? It"s like he"s a puppy or something." Roy didn"t think too much of it.

"What tier is Daniel?" Roy asked himself. He thought for a while, and came to the conclusion, that he was tier 2 or 3. If he could, or would, advance to a higher tier, then he would probably join the army, some other force, or become a private bodyguard/soldier/knight for someone more influential. He would most likely be tier 3, because that would be something easily achieved in the 60 years of GW.

"Well, at least I got a good connection to somebody from this quest." If he really could meet Daniel whenever he wanted, then he would have a much easier time getting quests, finding help for said quests, getting information, getting RP (reputation points), and so on.

The higher RP he would have, the better his status. If he could raise his RP to 200, he would become a bourgeoisie. He could then set up a shop (usually just a carpet or a rug on the floor), where other people couldn"t steal. When his RP would enter the 500 range, he would become a baron, then viscount, count, marquess, duke etc. Basically, RP was something like prestige.

When Roy got to the receptionist from before, he asked "So is everything settled? Can I get my reward?" He didn"t want to spend anymore time here. He was basically making small talk with Daniel about his hunting and life, because he kept him in his office. They were talking for about an hour, which exhausted Roy.

"Uh?" The pretty lady jumped. "Oh, yes! Your reward is 1.25 times more for a D rank quest, and 20 000 times more for getting a completion rank of -SSX. Together, you get 25k the promised reward, which is 50 GC more, from the previous 20 CC." She gently smiled, and then continued "There"s also the 30 GC you will be rewarded by the empire, for clearing the town"s surroundings of monsters." Her words were like bliss for Roy. 80 GC would almost double his current money. And although he did destroy the town"s development in some way, the empire had issued this reward a long time ago, so its effects were still in place.

"Yes, well, thank you." Roy said, happily thinking of his fortunes.

[Quest Complete: Skeleton Extermination Quest - D Rank Quest

Kill the surrounding Skeleton, and give in 10 Common Skeleton Bones.

Reward:

20 CC]

[Because of a Completion Rank -SSX, and Quest Rank D:

You will get 50 GC.]

He walked out of town hall.

*Phew*

"I was in GW a whole day!"

*...*

"But I still need to organize everything I got from killing [Skeleton]." He still had to look through everything, and organize everything, because earlier, he got so many items, he just didn"t bother checking them. He stored them in the bank, and decided to check after he completed his quest.

"Actually, how come I haven"t gotten some more achievements. Like, because of getting the "Achievements Pack 1", I thought there would be at least something like "Such a high Completion rate, wow!" thing or something..." Roy pondered.

"Maybe it"s like getting a piece of a puzzle. I still need the other packs, to make a full "mod"."

*...*

After he arrived to the bank, he hastily checked every item. When he gathered a certain type, like equipment, material, skills books, and so forth. He placed them in their own sections. He was so focused, that he didn"t even check each items status. He just organized them, by type and rarity.

When he was finished, he finally realized. He had a 100 GC! He could have bought the skill [Sorting Mechanism]! Yet, he"d already finished doing things manually.

He first checked the skill books. There were 16 Tier 0 skill books, which had about 0.1% dropping from common monsters, and a 0.2% from uncommon monsters. Unluckily, he didn"t get any Tier 1 skill books, so he had to settle for the 16 Tier 0 ones. Out of which, only 2 were for the swordsman cla.s.s. The rest fell into the other 6 cla.s.ses: mage, fighter, medic, scout, magician, and the thief.

The books were: "Double Slash", and "Basic Damage Booster".

[Double Slash (active):

Slash at two opponents, or one twice, within a 2 meter radios. Can inflict Bleed Debuff. +75% Damage for this attack

Cooldown - 2 minutes]

[Basic Damage Booster (pa.s.sive):

Deal +2% Damage, +1% chance to inflict Bleed Debuff.]

Both were amazing skills, that could improve a swordsman"s prowess by leaps and bounds. +2% damage might seem like a drop in the bucket, but when raiding bosses, the damage would show in longer fights. The double slash could not only be combined with normal slash, to make something like a triple slash. But could be used to counter monsters, that would heal if you don"t deal damage in a certain amount of time. You could also use it to counter an attack, or two, if they were dealt at the same time. If you directed both attacks at the same spot, then there would be higher damage once again!

Roy thought, that maybe he could sell it, but he didn"t have any skills on his person at the moment. Without these two, he would only have the "Angry Skeleton" set skills, and the sword skills. So, he learned them almost instantly.
