"I know a good spot here." Sherry held Stacy as they walk hand in hand. Stacy was still feeling a bit awkward since she doesn"t know how to respond to Sherry"s doting action. It"s kinda weird.Since her mother died at a young age, Stacy haven"t been close to any woman before except for her twin sister Erika. Stacy had been living with her dad for as long as G.o.d knows when. She doesn"t even remember her mother"s face, nor any scene during her childhood. Now she is wondering if her mom used to bring her to the park.
She looked at the woman who was holding her like a child. If Sherry"s daughter is alive, she must be very lucky to have a loving mother. She smiled.
"Why? is there a dirt on my face?" Sherry asked when she notice her stares.
"I"m sorry. I was just thinking about something."
"What was that? is it a good one?"
"Ehm." She smiled shyly.
"Oh okay." she smiled. "Do I talk that much? Just tell me if you feel hara.s.s so I could stop, okay?" she chuckled.
"Don"t worry you"re not." She guiltily t.i.tters.
Sherry was able to get the perfect spot for them. Their place is quite elevated and it"s breezy. It would be a perfect spot to watch other people too.
"You sure knew the perfect spot, huh." Stacy complimented.
"I"m glad that you liked it." Sherry smiled.
They laid the blanket and sat for a minute. They also talked about what they want to do while on the park.
"This might be a bit silly but I want to ride the swing. Hha!" Stacy was now learning to communicate to her without any reservations.
"What a coincidence! Me too." They both chuckled.
"Also, it"s good to try the boats in the pond. We can feed the fishes too. I"m sure you"ll like it." Sherry suggested.
"Then let"s play like children for now." Stacy chortled.
"Game!" they were both laughing.
They tried the adult swing together and also the seesaw. They kept giggling because it looks like they have the same weight.
After that, they were ruminating whether to try the horses but they settled on the decision to ride the boats instead.
Stacy"s eyes shone like never before. she was feeding the fishes gathered on their sides. She was trying to touch them but the fishes were trying to avoid her hand. looks like they"re scared.
"How I wish to stay like this forever." Stacy unconsciously mumbled. Sherry look at her. her eyes hints sadness.
"Having peace of mind and the freedom to do whatever you want." Stacy continued.
"Your life is yours to decide what you want to do Stacy. Follow your heart and do what makes you happy. I"m sure it would be a life worth living." Sherry tried to comfort her.
"I wish I have a lot of time to do the things I wanted to do. Chase my dreams and live the life I want." Her eyes were still watching the fishes. "However, the time I have is limited to seeing my sister and fix the problems that I caused her."
"Stacy…" Sherry held her hands resting on her lap. "I don"t know what you are going through right now but I know you will be able to overcome everything. I believe you"ll see your sister very soon. Just hold on a little longer, who knows breakthrough is just around the corner." Sherry genuinely smiled.
"Thank you." she shed a tear. Sherry felt a pang of guilt in her heart when she saw Stacy"s teardrop. How she wanted to embrace her. how she wanted to cry with her and share her burdens. But she knows her limitations. They aren"t that close yet.
"Stacy, can I hug you?" she was hesitating but she never expected Stacy"s response.
"I sure need it right now." she was trying to repress her tears.
Sherry came closer and hug her tight. She was caressing her back like a mother who truly cares for her child.
Then Stacy wasn"t able to hold her tears any longer. She doesn"t know why but she felt defenseless all of a sudden. The woman"s warm hug must have softened her heart since she felt love and security. All she wants right now is to drain her weary heart.
"Go on. cry. Release everything. Then soon, everything"s gonna be okay." Sherry whispered.
They stayed like that for who knows how long. They didn"t even mind the people who were staring at them. It"s not their life to mind with anyway.
After crying for a long time, Stacy gathered herself and stared at Sherry shyly.
"I"m so sorry Miss Sherry. But thank you so much." She was now smiling.
"I"m honored to be by your side today Stacy. I should be the one to thank you."
"Eh? Why is that?"
"Because you have given me the opportunity to be a mother even if it is unintentional." Her tone has sadness on it.
Stacy looked at her intently. This familiar figure. I must have thought of her as my mother. She smiled.
"Mom…" She unconsciously uttered. Sherry jerked at her words. It"s too good to be true.
"I would love too if you call me that." Sherry chuckled.
Stacy was taken aback but she laughed with her. "Sure mom." She teased.
"What a good girl you are, my daughter." She pinched her cheeks like a child then they giggled.
"So can we consider this as our first bonding as mother and daughter?" Sherry inquired.
"I guess it is." Stacy laughed.
After a while, Sherry"s phone ring. She looked at the caller id. "Silver?" she creased a brow.
In the meantime, Aisha was a bit edgy after hearing the old man"s statement. She was sure that the old man was not playing tricks when he voiced his thoughts.
A doppelganger? That"s insane! What if that was Stacy after all? Aisha wanted to check with her own eyes. What if it was really Stacy?
Then and there she dialed Ethan"s number and relayed the story. After a few minutes, she saw Ethan das.h.i.+ng to where she is.
"Are you sure about that?" Ethan asked.
"I"m not, but what if it was my sister?" she stood up when Ethan carried Eli in his arms.
"Ethan, I don"t believe in doppelganger. But who knows it was Stacy all along? I want to check it myself."
"Okay, then let"s hurry to the west part then." Ethan uttered.
***Unknown to Ethan and Aisha, someone has been following them secretly.
"Sir, it looks like they are searching for something." the man hiding among the crowds reported.
"Continue following them." The man on the other line ordered.
"Yes Sir." Then he hung up. As soon as the call got disconnected, the man followed Aisha and Ethan who"s a distant away.
