"Some things are meant to happen, just not meant to be. Some things are meant to come into your life, just not meant to stay." ---Trent Shelton***
After a few hours of chatting and laughing, she finally bid goodbye. But then the little girl held on her thigh not letting her go.
"Aunty, please don"t go. I want to hear some more stories from you." she showed her puppy pleading eyes.
Lisa knelt to meet the young girl"s eyes. "Sweetie, I love to stay but I have some errands to do today. but how about this, aunt will come back tomorrow with a surprise for you, do you like that?" she smiled.
"Yes, yes! I love surprises!" she jumps in excitement again. Then she kissed Lisa goodbye on the cheek. Lisa bid farewell to the three but Caleb isn"t responding so she just got out.
She reached her car and was about to enter in when she heard a familiar voice nearing her.
"Lisa!" the man called out from a far. She turned around to see Caleb gasping for air.
"Caleb!" she mumbled. "Is there"s something wrong?" she asked.
"Can we talk for a minute?"
"But I have work today. I might be late." she responded.
"Please…" Caleb insisted. After a few seconds of thinking, Lisa finally agreed so they went to sit on an empty bench outside the hospital park. As soon as they sat on the chair, Caleb faced her intently as he looked in her eyes.
"Lisa, I"m sorry about all this." he started. "I"m sorry, because I know it must have been hard to you but…"
"Caleb…" she interrupted him. "Stop saying sorry because I totally understand." She smiled then she averted her gaze towards the tall building in front of them.
"If there"s someone who was having a hard time right now, I know it was you. I don"t think you were able to get through your guilt when you left them that"s why you are trying your best to be with them most of your time and I don"t want to hinder you from doing that. besides, I support you." she beamed. "I know that your guilt is eating you inside and I don"t want to be a part of that. all I want is for you to be free."
"Lisa…"
"Don"t get me wrong, Caleb, but I know how it feels to grow up without a father. Being raised by a single mother is definitely hard so I know all the troubles that Elise underwent. Right now she needs support, she needs you." she looked at him. "Have you seen the happiness on Sahaya"s face whenever she sees you? I don"t want her to lose that. she really looks stunning whenever she smiles, just like you." She gave out a blissful smile.
"Lisa…" Caleb seems to know where she was going.
"Caleb, What I want you to do is to watch over them and take good care of them. I want you to be a responsible father and be a responsible husband to Elise as well. she deserves to be happy for the rest of her life." then she averted her eyes.
"With that being said, I want to let you go." she mumbled. "From now on, don"t ever think about me. I want you to think about them only. You should know that I am not breaking up because you lied to me about them. but the reason why I"m letting you go is because I love you and I treasure the things that you treasure too. I love you that I want to let you go. I want you to be happy without reservations. please be happy with them." she gave him her most beautiful and genuine smile.
"Lisa…" Caleb doesn"t know what to say. He was rendered speechless. He was caught off guard because he never expected her to be this calm.
"Caleb, I love you and I will always do. know that I don"t have any bitterness nor resentment in my heart and I am wis.h.i.+ng all the best for you as well as for Elise and Sahaya."
Then Lisa"s eyes begun to swell when Caleb suddenly embraced him tight.
"I"m sorry Lisa… I"m sorry!" Caleb cried as well.
Lisa embraced him back with tears in her eyes. "Take good care of Sahaya, she"s a smart girl just like you." she whispered then she felt Caleb"s head nodded in response.
After a few minutes, Caleb went back to Elise"s room. he knocked then opened the door. As soon as he stepped inside, he was rooted to where he was standing when he saw a man standing beside Elise while carrying the cheerful Sahaya.
"D-Dad?!" he exclaimed with his eyes widened. Fudge! How did he knew? He thought.
The old man turned around but he glared at him murderously. Caleb s.h.i.+vered. his father nor Sophie doesn"t know about Elise and Sahaya so how could he be here?
"H-How did you know?" Caleb asked.
"If it is not for Sahaya in my arms, I should have smack you with my hands as soon as I see you." Archie threatened.
"D-Dad, you don"t have to be so harsh…" he faked a laugh. "But how did you---"
"If Lisa didn"t inform me about them last night, would you even dare to tell me that I have a beautiful granddaughter?"
"L-Lisa told you?" he was surprised.
"Sahaya, tell me. should grandfather punish your dad for keeping you and your mom from me?" he was definitely getting her sympathy. The little girl was thinking for a while then she looked at his father meaningfully.
"I think Dad must be punished for lying to you." she responded. Caleb was stunned to hear her. Dang! why need to be savage now, Sahaya? He thought.
"Ah, good suggestion sweetie. I will definitely punish him soon." He caressed the young lad"s hair. "By the way, Elise will be transferred to the VIP room today. I have also change her doctors." Archie informed his son.
"What?! why didn"t you tell me about it first?" he argued.
"Simply because you weren"t here and Elise had also agreed so you can"t do anything about it. also, I have sent my butler to fetch Sahaya"s things so she could stay with me moving forward while Elise gets her treatment."
"What?!"
"Isn"t grandpa amazing, daddy?" Sahaya uttered in joy. "I can"t wait to see momma getting healed! we"ll be a happy family moving on!" she was wiggling with joy.
Caleb and Elise looked at each other, even Archie fell in silence since he knew about the woman"s condition.
"Let"s pray for your mom"s recovery, okay. for now, stay with grandpa, will that be alright?"
"Of course!" she hugged him tight. "Thank you, grandpa."
When Archie"s butler called to inform them that they had already got her stuffs, he bid farewell to Elise and Caleb since Sahaya wanted to go home with her grandpa today.
As soon as they left the room, silence engulfed the area.
"Caleb, where you able to speak with Lisa?" Elise asked.
"Yes." he smiled.
"Did you stopped her from going away?" she inquired.
"Go away? What do you mean?" he furthered.
"You didn"t know? she didn"t tell you?" Elise was surprise. "I think she will be leaving the country for good. Caleb, I know how special she is to you and you don"t have to let her go because of me nor Sahaya. You should understand that I won"t live long and Sahaya needs someone like her to guide her as she grows up." She encouraged him.
Caleb was shocked and doesn"t know what to do. he himself was lost but Elise was right. however, his sure that Lisa will never forgive him if he goes after her.
"It"s okay." he painfully smiled. "besides, we already broke up peacefully. She"ll get mad if I go after her now." Then he looked at Elise lovingly. "I won"t go anywhere, again. I will stay with you until the end." Then he kissed her forehead.
