Chapter 1258: Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess

No matter how good the item was, there would always be a limit to it.
There was no way this poison could kill the Boss in an instant. Meanwhile, Bygraves would only need to lift a finger to kill the whole bunch. Not to mention, he was also protected by countless sentries.
“I’ve heard that there’s a skill called Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess…” Lu Li mentioned tentatively.
“You…How do you know of this? Did Garona tell you?”
Shandris couldn’t hide her surprised expression. She had to rea.s.sess Lu Li, who looked like nothing but a weak adventurer to her.
“I’ve heard that Lothar and the others once received this blessing. They invaded Karazhan and killed Master Medivh with this buff, am I right?” Lu Li asked.
“How do you know? Only a handful of people know about this!” Shandris exclaimed, unable to keep her mouth shut.
Lu Li used his knowledge from his previous life to trick the NPC. No matter how strong this NPC might be, they would all eventually fall for his tricks.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Master Medivh once. He was such a wise man. I can’t believe that he once betrayed Azeroth and was killed by a few mortals.”
Although Lu Li kept saying that he couldn’t believe it, his tone displayed strong confidence, as if he had seen it with his own eyes.
“Guardian,” Shandris said, paying her respects.
Back then, under the influce of Sargeras, Medivh began to secretly investigate all sorts of evil magic and witchcraft. Then, he built an identical underground tower under Karazhan for his dark rituals.
During a long spiritual trip, Medivh made contact with another Orc Warlock, Gul’dan, who thirsted for power. Through Medivh, the dark t.i.tan Sargeras told Gul’dan where it rested. Gul’dan, who was greedy for more power, agreed to lead the Orcs to invade Azeroth in order to obtain this ‘final power’ of Sargeras.
Shortly after, Medivh and Gul’dan’s Shadow Council worked together and opened the dark portal that connected the two worlds. The Horde then began their invasion on Azeroth.
It was perfectly fine to say that Medivh was the hand behind the curtains that started the war.
Then, his soul was left to wander in the stars for many years. His mother, Aegwynn used the last of her powers, the same powers that she used to maintain her youth, to resurrect her son.
Twenty years later, a mysterious prophet arrived in Lordaeron in the form of a blood crow. He prophesied to Thrall and Terenas, King of Lordaeron, of the third invasion of the Burning Legion.
At the time, the Horde was headed to Kalimdor, and Terenas had no interest in what the crow had to say.
A sudden and fearful plague quickly spread itself amongst the northern cities of Lordaeron. The Lordaeron prince, Arthas, had to slaughter the whole Stratholme city to stop the spread of the plague. It was a nightmare.
The mysterious prophet appeared again, but this time, Prince Arthas had no interest in what the crow had to say. The eyes of the young prince were shrouded by flames of revenge.
Not long after, Terenas was killed by his son, the kingdom fell and the fearful plague continued to spread.
Only a few humans managed to follow the female Mage, Jaina Proudmore, to cross over the seas to Kalimdor with the guidance of Medivh. They became the survivors of the Lordaeron disaster and formed a temporary alliance with the Horde that had also arrived in Kalimdor beforehand. Together, they all eventually joined forces with the Night Elves to defend against the invasion of the Burning Legion.
They fought hard before the Archimonde reached the Tree of Eternity. In the end, Malfurion blew the horn of Cenarius, and countless little faeries appeared to self-destruct and severely wound Archimonde. Then, with the power of the World Tree, they slew Archimonde.
After the war, Nordra.s.sil was no longer eternal, and Night Elves were no longer immortal. Nordra.s.sil turned into a giant tree that was closer to any other average tree.
At this point, Medivh fulfilled his quest and handed down the task of maintaining this world to all those who lived on Azeroth.
When the Dawn of the G.o.ds rested, this wise and old Mage finally washed away his shame of being once controlled by the Demon.
Night Elves always paid their respects to Medivh.
The evil side of this Human Mage nearly crushed the entire continent, but it was also his side of mercy that saved the entire continent and Nordra.s.sil.
“Unfortunately, I am no Mage, or else I would’ve followed his steps,” Lu Li said as his figure shattered and turned into a blood crow in the evening glow of Hillsbrad.
“Uhm…” Shandris was speechless.
Usually, a buff like Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess could not be used at random. Shandris had learned it, but had barely casted it on anyone else, let alone adventurers.
Under usual circ.u.mstances, the buff was not dependent on the caster, but rather the target.
For example, if a level 60 Priest cast a buff on a level 20 player, the attributes that this buff provided would be based on the cast target and not the level 60 Priest. For a level 20 player, this buff was no different to a buff provided by a Priest of the same level.
However, the Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess was a different story. This status had nothing to do with levels.
If a low-level account was to receive this buff, they could easily kill players like Lu Li and Sorrowless. Apparently, such strength came from the Moon G.o.ddess herself and it provided the target a short, but significant amount of overall strength.
This was what Lu Li was aiming for. Under the circ.u.mstances that Shandris couldn’t help him herself, she could give him a Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess buff instead.
To further persuade Shandris, Lu Li purposely revealed the emblem on his left shoulder. It was the Blessing of Moon Priestess, and at the highest tier of blessings too. This was apparently more persuasive than the blood crow form to Shandris.
“Alright, I’ll give the two of you a Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess buff, and I’ll also have my sentries rush up against the Horde and try to deal as much damage as possible to Bygraves. However, I will not join the battle personally,” Shandris said firmly, drawing her bottom line.
No matter how much she respected Medivh, he was still an outsider. However, the blessing on Lu Li’s left shoulder proved that he was one of their own, and with Garona’s request on top, they obtained two spots for the Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess buff.
As for the consequences that this might have, someone would eventually stand out and fix it.
Defending against the Burning Legions’ invasion was a must; it could not possibly be affected by an old murderer alone. From the intel that they had received, Bygaves wasn’t very popular amongst the Horde either. Many had been wis.h.i.+ng for his death.
Two spots, and not two 100-man groups – it would be a lie to say that Lu Li wasn’t disappointed.
All he could do was to see how things go. After he received the Prayer of the Moon G.o.ddess buff and wiped the poison from Garona on his weapon, Lu Li was finally able to begin instructing all players to join the fight. The best option would be Mages, who had Ice Barrier.
