Chapter 1518: The Royal Guard

Lu Li regretted not bringing more Thieves from the guild.
However, this was just a thought of his because the System would never allowing Ruling Sword to have too many Thieves join this mysterious faction.
If there were too many Thieves, then the rewards probably wouldn’t be as good since the quest wasn’t difficult.
They cleaned up the farm and Emma left by herself.
Before she left, she asked Lu Li about her little brother at the Undercity.
Could human Thieves Stealth into the Undercity?
Lu Li wasn’t sure, but he didn’t want Emma to venture off by herself since NPCs only had one life, unlike the players.
Lu Li completed the quest on the quest log tab.
The quest rewarded a decent amount of Reputation, and he was now close to upgrading to the next tier of the Stormwind t.i.tle.
Lu Li was curious what would happen if he was promoted to Stormwind General.
However, that would take him a while at this pace. Fortunately, there were quests handed out by the military that awarded a large amount of Reputation to help speed up the process. The only caveat was that these quests were generally much more difficult.
If it wasn’t for Emma, it would’ve taken them a long time just to clear the farm.
Not long after, a team of scouts stopped by.
Lu Li saw the Alliance Scout team and saw Major Solomon.
Solomon looked quite young, with brown hair and a handsome face. His face was covered in tree sap and paint in order to help him blend into the environment. A lot of NPC soldiers did this, but Lu Li wasn’t sure how effective it was.
“You guys cleared this area?” Solomon questioned Lu Li.
“We were doing a quest and this NPC helped us out,” Lu Li answered truthfully.
Lu Li sounded quite sincere, so Solomon lowered his guard. Upon hearing that it was a survivor of the Felstone family, he knew that Lu Li was telling the truth.
Everyone on this earth had reasons to work with the Scourge. However, the Felstones were definitely an exception to this rule.
“My troops will rest here for the night. Please provide food and water for us.”
Solomon was quite straightforward and blunt guy, even though his role was stealthy and cunning.
“Are we headed to Stratholme?” Lu Li asked.
For players, Stratholme was just another dungeon. However, in the storyline, it had still been taken over by the Scourge.
“I don’t know. That’s something only the people in power would know. We just do what we’re told to do,” the Scout Leader said authoritatively.
“I understand.”
Lu Li knew that he couldn’t get much information out of him.
However, from his memory, the war was stopped midway because they had to deal with a new enemy – the Old G.o.d C’Thun in Ahn’Qiraj. All this war did was stop the plague from spreading too fast.
All Lu Li wanted was to benefit out of this war somehow. He had many opportunities to do this as he was in direct contact with these generals at the front line.
“I don’t understand you people. Being an adventurer is much more fun and relaxing. Why join the army?” Solomon laughed.
Lu Li didn’t understand the meaning behind what Solomon said. He did not sound pa.s.sionate at all, rather, he sounded overly realistic and almost jealous of the life of an adventurer.
Perhaps he was a royal commander that has very little experience in war.
“Yeah, being an adventurer, I feel as free as a bird. But.. I can’t just sit here and watch my home get taken over by the plague, you know?” Lu Li replied.
“We’ll definitely defeat the d.a.m.n Scourge,” Solomon said as he rubbed his nose.
“Thank you, officer. Me and my friends will do whatever it takes to help the Alliance,” Lu Li responded in a serious tone.
“Then do you have any interesting stories?” Solomon asked curiously.
“Oh, I have a few stories that I still can’t believe myself,” Lu Li said casually. “I’ve met Medivh and learnt a few things from him…”
He instantly transformed into a crow.
Solomon was scared and instinctively pulled out his dagger in defense. His movement seemed quite well polished, so he had probably earned his position.
“Don’t misunderstand. It’s just me,” Lu Li said, returning to his original form. He didn’t mind showing off these tricks in front of this NPC.
This skill cannot be stolen from others and it was taught by Medivh. However, the G.o.d Ring was different. He would never let the NPCs know about this item because their world was complicated and corrupted.
“That.. that’s amazing.”
“I probably just got lucky and Medivh felt generous that day,” Lu Li said humbly. “The most epic thing that happened recently was the hunt for Onyxia. Many of us died in the process, but eventually, we took her down.”
“You mean..?!” Solomon grabbed Lu Li’s shoulder.
“It was just a clone. These dragons have ways to revive themselves,” Lu Li sighed in disappointment.
‘You guys are amazing.”
Solomon was easily impressed by Lu Li’s stories. In fact, if it wasn’t for his duty for the Alliance, he would have begged Lu Li to take him under his wing right then and there.
“This time, we’re going to defeat the Scourge,” Lu Li said confidently.
“Is this all you guys have?” Solomon asked, but then realized the question might have been rude. However, he recalled Lu Li saying that they needed a lot of people to defeat Onyxia.
“There are many, many more people all under my command,” Lu Li said.
“Are they strong?” Solomon asked.
“They’re all about as strong as us. We emphasize the importance of teamwork and chemistry more though.”
Lu Li knew that teamwork and chemistry was more important than anything else when it came to this game.
“You have a lot of people that are strong…Aren’t you guys afraid of dying?” Solomon accidentally blurted out the wrong thing again.
He was very ambitious and was very straightforward with Lu Li.
