Chapter 1677: Working Together
These two Bosses were able to switch places all of a sudden. It was a trap! What the h.e.l.l is this! Complaining didn’t do anything to vent everyone’s feelings. Many people were concerned about how the game designers’ mothers were going.
“Kitty Likes Meat and I will stand a bit closer. After they teleport, there’s a pause, which gives us time to switch,” Azure Sea Breeze suggested. He was a bit dumbstruck when the bosses switched places for the first time, so he didn’t have time to switch places with Kitty Likes Meat.
“Ok, we’ll try what you say then,” Lu Li said, without having much hope.
They pulled the monsters again. Kitty Likes Meat and Azure Sea Breeze adjusted their positions a bit and prepared themselves for when the two Bosses changed places again. That way, they could run to where the other was and pull their own respective bosses again.
The twin emperors’ aggro system meant that aggro depended on distance. After teleporting, the aggro was cleared. Then, they would have ma.s.sive aggro on the player that was nearest to them. If, before the next teleportation, this aggro had been exceeded, they would change their target. Otherwise, they would be the same target the whole time. After the teleportation again, the aggro calculation would start over again. s.n.a.t.c.hing aggro was the key. Before the Boss attacked others, Kitty Likes Meat had to stabilize her own aggro.
Kitty Likes Meat’s armor was relatively strong, and she also had a piece of equipment that increased her level of her Burning Pain skill. Pulling the monster didn’t seem like much of a problem at all. However, Lonesome Flower had been afraid of these two powerful monsters for a long time and he didn’t dare to deal damage.
Originally, the situation looked great. Everyone had their own target of damage output, and the two tanks were pulling their own targets well.
However, when the Twin Emperors started to dodge and heal each other, Azure Sea Breeze suddenly realized that this wasn’t going to be simple. These two Bosses couldn’t be pulled together. They needed to be separated for it to work. This made it harder for them to do their job of pulling the two bosses. Kitty Likes Meat was a bit better. She was a ranged attack magic unit, so pulling monsters was done at a distance. As long as she stood at a certain spot, it wasn’t too far for her to run to where she needed to be. Azure Sea Breeze pulled monsters at a close range, so if the two Bosses had to be separated, then he’d really suffer.
The HP of the Twin Emperors put together was about 4.5 million. Since their HPs were the same together, whichever one they attacked would make them lose health. Before, when they had dealt about 200 000 damage to them, after they healed each other, they managed to restore back more than 100 000 HP. It seemed like more than half of what they did before was wasted.
“Keep going, the team’s not dead yet. Who knows, the Bosses might only heal very rarely,” Azure Sea Breeze encouraged the team. He refused to accept the fact that he had to keep running around to pull the monster. He was only praying that the monsters didn’t heal each other often.
“Then keep fighting,” Lu Li commented casually.
Although he knew that Azure Sea Breeze’s thinking of wanting to try his luck was doomed to have an unhappy ending, Instance Dungeon openings were like this. Any sort of possibility was worth trying, and Ruling Sword had enough time to go ahead with these attempts. Everyone continued to attack these monsters which had been healed.
One thing that made Lu Li satisfied was that everyone was already familiar with the rhythm of the Bosses changing positions. Although the walkthrough said that on average, they changed about every 30 seconds, it actually wasn’t exactly 30 seconds. Sometimes it was a bit less, possibly just over 20 seconds. Over 30 seconds and even 40 seconds were intervals that happened. After they changed places, there was about a five second gap that gave time for everyone to get to their places.
Under normal circ.u.mstances, the change of positions between the bosses threatened the team the most. If the close combat DPS didn’t retreat in time, then it would cause the Magic Emperor to cast an Arcane Explosion, and that would lead to the team’s death. If the magic roles kept attacking the sword emperor, the Boss would use a strong attack. Many close combat roles, like thieves, berserkers and Paladins, lost a lot of DKP here, even losing all their DKP wasn’t impossible.
Azure Sea Breeze’s conviction of wanting to try his luck soon completely faltered, because of the bugs they thought were harmless. The sword emperor Emperor Vekniss used his big sword to point at the bugs, and one of the bugs looked like it had been blown up like a balloon. This insect which expanded rushed towards the Magic Emperor Vek’lor. Since the distance between the two Bosses was extremely close, the bug took almost no time to enter the area of the Magic Emperor’s attack. The Magic Emperor’s staff pointed towards the insect, and the bug began to give off sparks. Then, with a bang, the bug exploded. How big this explosion actually was, no one knew, but everyone incurred over 4000 damage. All of a sudden, they lost half their team. There was no doubt they were on the path to the whole team dying.
“It looks like these Bosses can’t get too close,” Azure Sea Breeze grumbled. There were healing bosses and exploding bugs to worry about on top of that. Even the dumbest person could see that these Bosses need to be pulled away further.
“There are platforms on both sides. You can pull the Bosses onto the platforms,” Lu Li suggested, guiding them the right way while he still had the chance.
“I’m a ranged unit, how can I pull him up onto the platform?” Kitty Likes Meat asked, expressing her helplessness. She was at a long distance from the Boss. From her point of view, being stuck and unable to attack much, it was really hard to pull the Boss in a certain direction.
“There’s no problem the first time, pull him wherever you can, when the Bosses change position, they’ll naturally get on the platform,” Lu Li said.
“Right, that could work,” Kitty Likes Meat realised.
“As for Breezy…” Lu Li looked at him.
Azure Sea Breeze immediately had a teary face. “It won’t work, Lu Li, the platforms are so far away, there’s only a second and a half after the Bosses switch places to before they attack, I simply can’t run from one side to the other.”
“If I remember correctly, you had a special escape skill,” Lu Li said.
“I can’t keep using it though. I can guarantee if the Bosses switched places two or three times there’ll be a problem,” Azure Sea Breeze sighed hopelessly. He couldn’t imagine his DKP being drained, so he simply spoke the discouraging truth upfront.
“Then let World’s Best Friend in then,” Lu Li replied, swapping out a person. Sesame Rice Ball pulled up the other Main Tank of the club, World’s Best Friend.
The two Main Tanks split up and guarded near the platforms. As soon as the sword emperor switched to the platform in front of them, they rushed forward and pulled the Boss. And as soon as the sword emperor was switched away, the Main Tank who was originally pulling the sword emperor would clear away to avoid the Arcane Explosion of the Magic Emperor from being casted.
“What do we do about the bugs?” Sky Moon asked.
“Just kill the bug that gets chosen by the sword emperor. Even Wandering could pull it if he is able to.”
It was easy to take care of the bugs. As soon as one of these neutral bugs was picked it would rush toward the Magic Emperor and climb up. When it entered within a certain distance, the Magic Emperor would make it explode. As long as they killed it and stopped it from getting within range of the Magic Emperor, it’d be fine.
The battle started again, but they were quickly defeated again. It was because there weren’t enough healers healing. As long as the two Bosses called out to each other, the healers had to switch their position. Lu Li had arranged more than a dozen healers. When there were a lot of people, things got messy. It was apparent that they needed some time to get used to working together to defeat this Boss.
They were still in the process over the next few days. Good thing that everyone worked better and better together, gradually making progress. Soon, they were able to see a slither of hope in claiming victory in Dawn.
