Chapter 1705: Successor
Changing the Tank wasn’t the same as changing other roles. Other roles could be swapped easily and there usually wasn’t any big impact. Changing the Tank, especially the profession as well, would change the mechanics of the whole Instance Dungeon.
When Deep Watersong entered the Instance Dungeon for the first time, the team’s performance was a farce.
Ouro was more fearsome than ever. Deep Watersong had already followed everyone in watching the livestream countless times, but watching the livestream was completely different to experiencing the battle in real life. Furthermore, there was a difference in utilizing a Bear Tank and Warrior Tank, so the first time there was a Sand Blast, the whole team died.
Sky Moon was dumbstruck. He looked to help from Lu Li, as if waiting for him to give his verdict on this result.
Should Deep Watersong be swapped out again?
According to his expectation, Deep Watersong Tanking this Boss should have some advantage, not to mention he also checked his equipment. In both Defense and HP, it was better than Azure Sea Breeze’s.
“Continue – you continue commanding. It’s allyours today,” Lu Li said matter-of-factly as he took a potion.
“Um, ok Boss. I’ll try my best,” Sky Moon said somewhat nervously.
“Take it easy, with this Boss…”
Azure Sea Breeze wasn’t particularly unhappy, but he was just sharing his experiences with Deep Watersong.
Actually, Azure Sea Breeze and Lu Li thought in similar ways.
For Azure Sea Breeze, no matter what, Deep Watersong was still an outsider and couldn’t impact his position as the number one Main Tank in Ruling Sword.
And to Lu Li, no matter how well Sky Moon did, it didn’t affect his position.
He actually wanted to raise up a competent Instance Dungeon commander. This would release him from his heavy burden of commanding Instance Dungeons, as well as being able to make up for future shortcomings.
Perhaps he himself really had talent for commanding, but when it came to what others thought of him, his reputation was better than the reality.
What sort of person was Lu Li?
The best Thief, Water Fairy’s boyfriend – most larger clubs simply didn’t care about all this.
In their eyes, the most menacing thing about Lu Li was the fact that under his command, there were almost no defeats at all. Since Dawn had been released until now, practically all the First Clears of the public Instance Dungeons were completed under his command.
This one person was more fearsome than ten of best Thieves.
No matter how hard they tried, the Instance Dungeon commanders and First Clear teams of other clubs couldn’t match how Lu Li seemed to command with such ease. It was if he was getting direct help from G.o.d himself.
This ‘help from G.o.d’ was actually mostly not what Lu Li had thought of himself, and it had nothing to do with talent.
He had a lot of Instance Dungeon walkthroughs in his brain to keep up the pretense of being a ‘genius Instance Dungeon commander’ for now.
However, after level 60 or 70, would he still be able to guarantee that First Clears would still go to Ruling Sword!
He could not!
Commanding Instance Dungeons couldn’t simply be learnt by just studying hard. At a certain level, it was a matter of talent.
Only G.o.d could give you this talent.
In order to reduce the impact of this, Lu Li fostered his own growth on one hand, and on the other hand, trained his successors who would take over after his great reborn knowledge was used up.
Whether Sky Moon could reach this level, he didn’t know. However, he was willing to give Sky Moon a chance, letting this unknown player show off his own amazing talent.
As soon as they entered, they were sent out again. Deep Watersong didn’t know what to do. Even if they weren’t thinking about Deep Watersong, Lu Li also needed to consider how Water Fairy felt.
Lu Li and Water Fairy were in a honeymoon phase. Even if Lu Li wasted two or three days of progress for Water Fairy, he wouldn’t feel as though it was a big problem.
Everyone took a brief rest. Deep Watersong, Sky Moon, as well as Azure Sea Breeze were feeling a little uncertain for a while, before they restarted the Instance Dungeon again.
They went much better this time. Deep Watersong was the number one Main Tank of Drizzle Court, and really wasn’t much worse than Azure Sea Breeze in how he did things. With the Female Tyc.o.o.n here, he naturally wouldn’t have to worry about equipment. The only thing lacking was understanding of actual combat against this Boss.
The Bear Tank’s Charge cooldown was faster. Before, there was a higher chance of failure. Many times, it was because Deep Watersong had reflexes quick enough to avoid a crisis.
In this way, the number of times the mounds came up was greatly reduced.
Ouro’s three linked skills were really quite fearsome. Most team deaths occurred at this stage. It wasn’t as simple as knowing the skills that Ouro had. You were required to target them directly and deal with it.
These three skills produced immediate effects. If a single reaction wasn’t correct or on time, it could lead to a whole group of teammates stumbling.
Although Deep Watersong made some progress, it was impossible for him to fight any better than how Azure Sea Breeze had been going in the past couple of weeks.
The second team death came quickly. The main responsibility again lay on the few Tanks responsible for drawing aggro. As soon as they entered the second stage, the team had died, with no chance to even try to salvage the situation.
When Deep Watersong was watching the Instance Dungeon from outside, he couldn’t shake the feeling that a lot of people just weren’t performing up to standard. A lot of team deaths weren’t necessary. However, he needed to enter in to truly experience how difficult fighting this Boss was.
“Is there something different happening?” Sky Moon asked uncertainly.
“Have some more confidence. If you think it’ll work, you need to convince yourself first. Otherwise, how can you convince others that your decision’s right?” Lu Li responded. People with a discerning eye could see that a Bear Tank had a certain advantage against this Boss. How could Sky Moon, the initiator of this idea, not see this? He just needed to appeal to authority to give himself some confidence.
Perhaps in other situations, a Bear Tank wasn’t as useful as a Warrior Tank, but the undeniable advantage here was that a Bear Tank guaranteed that there would always be a player within five yards of the Boss.
“Just then, three people dodged the mounds poorly,” Sky Moon said cautiously.
“If you’re sure someone did something wrong, and it was an unnecessary mistake, then as a commander, you can give them a punishment. Moon, you’re the commander now. Even if I did something wrong, you could punish me,” Lu Li said, trying to give him the most support possible.
“Um, just then, when Water boss changed position…” Sky Moon began with an awkward expression, avoiding looking at Lu Li.
“I really did mess up. Punish me however you should,” Water Fairy responded calmly.
Sky Moon was leading here. Deep Watersong had come in to act as the Main Tank and quite a few people didn’t approve of this, but this didn’t apply to Water Fairy.
Deep Watersong was one of her people. If he didn’t do well, it reflected poorly on her too.
Simply because Water Fairy was more concerned about the Main Tank’s situation, she was a bit less careful and made a mistake. She incurred damage from a mound, and a healer didn’t heal her in time, which meant that she was knocked out early.
