Chapter 1731: Happiness in Losing
Eat, sleep, kill Hehe bro. This was the everyday life of those in Judgement Spear. Even Ruling Sword people joined in. Very soon, everyone in the game knew about this.
Ruling Sword had gotten in a mess with Gangnam Royals again. Last time, it was Gangnam Royals provoking and pressuring the new Ruling Sword. This time, it was Lu Li stirring things up by killing a level 30 something sock puppet for no apparent reason – this sock puppet had been in the game for only a dozen or so days and hadn’t even levelled up to level 40.
From an outsider’s point of view, last time, Gangnam Royals were too harsh. This time, it looked like Ruling Sword were even harsher. They were killing a level 30 something sock puppet over and over again. Even a few random players joined in and some were doing so just to earn money. They’d record a video of themselves killing Chase You Hehe and gave it to Her Tears. After Her Tears confirmed that it’s legitimate, there was no problem in giving them money.
And some were joining in simply to seek revenge on Gangnam Royals. When too many people break the law— there was no more law. With so many people partic.i.p.ating, Gangnam Royals couldn’t tell who was the one doing the killing.
Amidst all of this, some people came out to watch the situation play out. These people for an opportunity to benefit from Ruling Sword and Gangnam Royals getting in a fight. If that happened, it’d affect both guilds’ strength which would make both their strongholds vulnerable. In the scenario where Drizzle Court and Peerless City joined the fight as well, there would be two more strongholds up for grabs.
However, what made everyone really shocked this time was a silent Heart of War. Apart from expressing his sadness at some public events and publicly condemning Ruling Sword’s aggression and oppression, he actually didn’t do anything but play the victim. The stronghold battle came as it would, and Gangnam Royals successfully protected their own stronghold.
After the stronghold battle, Gangnam Royals and Ruling Sword erupted in a battle for control over their territory, fighting for a few hours. After that, no one in Dawn saw Chase You Hehe again. After the change of name feature started up, whether Chase You Hehe changed his ident.i.ty and went back into the game, no one knew.
At least in everyone’s eyes, Ruling Sword had pressured Gangnam Royals to the point of one of their brothers leaving the game. From then on, Ruling Sword never appeared weak again.
Halloween ended on a happy note. Since Remnant Dream was there, Ruling Sword got five Headless Paladin Steed reins. According to the statistics, this was the sixth highest number of Headless Paladin Steed reins taken in by a club in the China area.
The highest number was taken in by Glory Capital, with their great power and high numbers, getting seven knights.
This new guild Judgement Spear also got two knights. One of them Wandering shamelessly gave himself, and the other was taken by Princely Beaut.
“Today is the first time Ruling Sword is partic.i.p.ating in the Shadow Cup. Their opponents are a new club, Flouris.h.i.+ng East. *cough* The name sounds really dominant, everyone’s looking forward to seeing their performance,” Dark Wind announced into the microphone, starting today’s commentary.
Today, he was the only commentator. After all, it was only the very beginning of the compet.i.tion, so there wasn’t much to talk about. Everyone in Flouris.h.i.+ng East was excited. They were rolling up their sleeves, ready and waiting excitedly to partic.i.p.ate. They didn’t think it was a David and Goliath situation where they would completely grind Ruling Sword to the ground. Actually, even if they had more confidence, they knew that their own road in this compet.i.tion would end here. They would probably not be able to get a single point.
The main thing was just to get their name out there. For a club with no power to speak of, and knowing that they had almost no members, the best result was if they won a few compet.i.tions and earned a bit in ticket fees. But when they went up against Ruling Sword, it was different.
Because of Ruling Sword, the whole venue was filled. Some of the ticket fees would be given to them, and the coolest commentator in the commentating world, Dark Wind, would be their commentator. With him commentating their compet.i.tion, even if he casually gave them a compliment, it would make the news. No matter how much money they spent, they couldn’t find such an effective form of advertising.
When the arena compet.i.tion started, the compet.i.tor from Flouris.h.i.+ng East went for a deep bow straight away, almost hugging Fat Monkey’s leg in his expression of grat.i.tude. Fat Monkey had a terrible temper, but the kinder others were to him, the less likely he would be fierce against them. Originally, it would’ve taken 30 seconds to finish up this battle, but this battle lasted for two to three minutes until that compet.i.tor was finally knocked off the arena.
The second compet.i.tor was super polite too and also used the same fire magic as Fat Monkey. When he came up, a group of fans felt like they had met their idol. Fat Monkey gnashed his teeth, and after fighting his opponent for a few minutes he was lying flat on the stage. That’s right, he pretended to have a poor performance and had been knocked out.
The next to go on stage was Moonlight. Moonlight wasn’t like Fat Monkey. He was a very focused compet.i.tor. It didn’t matter if you were more polite to him. His goal was just victory. Throwing a game against him on the stage was something that just couldn’t happen. So the arena battle ended in the hands of Moonlight.
And no one blamed Fat Monkey either. Getting one point was very important for Flouris.h.i.+ng East. If Flouris.h.i.+ng East could even get just one point, they might get the chance to advance. There was a ma.s.sive number of low-level teams here, so it was possible that there were quite a few clubs who could get one point.
Ruling Sword simply didn’t care about points at all. Lu Li himself went on the arena, so Ruling Sword could be said to have given enough face to their opponents. They made Flouris.h.i.+ng East’s demise very clear, but it also made them very happy as well. In the future, they could boast about how they were on the level to be able to fight Lu Li on the same arena.
Although Judgement Spear was Lu Li’s branch guild, their team still needed to go through trials.
In compet.i.tions in this day and age, things were becoming more user-friendly. Especially when it came to these preliminary trials, there were practically no requirements. When Judgement Sword was set up, the preliminary trials had already been running for a long time.
The good thing was that they had to be on the same playing field as other teams that had been fighting from the start. They needed to have acc.u.mulated a certain number of points. The main compet.i.tors from Judgement Spear had come from Ruling Sword’s Sharpening Centre anyway.
Road was the leader of the Judgement Spear team. In the team, there were the priest Princely Beaut, the Warrior Soulless Gra.s.s, as well as the Three Sikong Fools.
A six person team was enough for a round. Although the players weren’t particularly remarkable, Lu Li didn’t arrange for a veteran player to be on the team to lead them. When it was the Donghua Cup he still arranged for Mu Qiu and Fat Monkey to fight with them, and even Azure Sea Breeze and Lonesome Flower rolled up their sleeves for battle.
Actually, their performance was really outstanding, getting more than six points each round (three points for the arena compet.i.tions and six for the group compet.i.tions, for a total of nine points). When they faced some especially c.r.a.ppy team they were able to get eight or nine points straight away.
If nothing unexpected happened, Judgement Spear were safely able to get into the regular compet.i.tions.
