Sheng Yize leaned on the doorframe, showing off his wide shoulders and long legs, and said in a rakish tone, “I’m the rascal? Here, have a look. See what you did to me! I couldn’t get your hands off me… Why are you blus.h.i.+ng? Not satisfied with my size?”
An Xiaxia wrapped herself up, her face pink. “Stop talking!”
His black eyes narrowed immediately, flickering with an indecipherable light. He moved closer until An Xiaxia’s back was pressed against the basin. “So, you like a man of action? How about… we pick up from where we left off?”
An Xiaxia covered herself up and shook her head repeatedly. “No, no… that won’t be necessary!”
Sheng Yize smiled. “Good girl. We’ll get back to it after we’re married.”
… Get back my a.s.s!
An Xiaxia ran back to the bed and huddled under the duvet, trying to play dead.
Sheng Yize patted the duvet. “Aren’t you a bit too old to be this shy? Get up and have some soup.”
“Hm… you’re old!” An Xiaxia stuck her little head out and blinked when she smelled the rich aroma. “What soup is that…”
“All-around tonic soup. It’s nouris.h.i.+ng, good for your kidneys, and does wonders for your health.” Sheng Yize smiled wickedly.
“I don’t need a tonic!”
“Then I’ll have it.” Sheng Yize gestured at the soup, but An Xiaxia s.n.a.t.c.hed it away before he did, looking very reluctant to have her food stolen from her.
She took a sip and realized that it was just normal chicken soup. He was just bluffing.
But it was such delicious soup… An Xiaxia ate two full bowls of it before lying back in bed, rubbing her plump belly.
There was a rhythmic tap on the door and Sheng Yize raised an eyebrow. “Here we go.”
“Who is it?”
“Mr. Song.” Sheng Yize sneered. “Just play dead. I’ll speak for you!”
An Xiaxia nodded.
Mr. Song hurried in and looked at An Xiaxia with concern. “How is she?”
Sheng Yize darted him an indifferent look with his arms crossed. “So, you do know that you still have a daughter. I was wondering what you brought her back home for? To dote on her or to have her killed?”
Mr. Song was infuriated. “What’s all that nonsense? How could I wish my own daughter dead?”
“But she was drugged in her own home!” The authority in Sheng Yize’s voice was unchallenged. “If that man had succeeded, she would have been raped in her own house! Mr. Song, you talk about how much you care about this daughter all the time, but not only was she almost killed once because of you, you let such a thing happen to her today. Are you telling me that you’re not responsible for any of this at all?”
Mr. Song went quiet. He had to admit that despite Sheng Yize’s venomous tongue, the young man was spot on.
“I’ll put the Song family back in order, and make it safe for her to live in,” said Mr. Song, sounding exhausted.
An Xiaxia tugged on her duvet, eyeing Sheng Yize with admiration.
That was awesome! He had crucified Mr. Song in a matter of minutes!
Sheng Yize smiled, which reminded one of ice cracking in the North Pole. “That won’t be necessary. From now on, she’s my responsibility.”
Mr. Song was very reluctant. “You…”
“Xiaxia knows very little about running a business and the Song family will have to marry her off sooner or later. Aren’t I the perfect choice? Since it’s only a matter of time before she becomes my wife, why don’t I begin to fulfill my rights and obligations as a husband now?”
An Xiaxia was baffled. Why did she get the feeling that she had just been sent from a tiger’s lair to a wolf’s den?
“Fine, fine… Xiaxia is all yours.” Mr. Song waved him off. Sheng Yize then seemed to realize something and smiled beatifically. “There’s one more thing. I’ve had Song Qingwan arrested.”
“What?”
