Chapter 140: The Arrogant Personal a.s.sistant of the CEO!
Sheng An’ning was stunned. She knew Jiang Xuecheng had always employed male a.s.sistants. Hence, she had not expected a woman to answer her call.
Sheng An’ning bit her lip and a thick sense of insecurity arose in her heart. She had not noticed Su Wan calling Jiang Xuecheng by his name instead of addressing him as ‘Young Master’ or ‘Mr. Jiang’.
When Sheng An’ning was quiet, Su Wan’s heart was equally restless but she kept her voice steady on the surface.
“h.e.l.lo miss, is there a message you wish to leave? Otherwise, shall I end the call?”
Such an arrogant personal a.s.sistant of the CEO…
Sheng An’ning narrowed her eyes. The person would obviously be able to make out from what she said just now that she and Jiang Xuecheng had known one another since they were young and their relations.h.i.+p was close but she threatened to end the call.
Wait till she returned to Jiuzhou, she would tell Jiang Xuecheng that this a.s.sistant of his was not patient enough and should be fired.
Although a person in a favorable position gained special advantages, Sheng An’ning would definitely not want to see other women surrounding Jiang Xuecheng all day long.
She had left Jiuzhou for a long time and it was time she seized this opportunity…
Just within these several minutes, many thoughts flashed through Sheng An’ning’s mind.
She suppressed her displeasure and asked gently, “Err…are you Brother Xuecheng’s personal a.s.sistant? Please let him know Haoxuan and I will return in half a month and ask him if he could pick me up.”
Sheng An’ning realized her last sentence was too direct and so she elaborated further.
“Haoxuan and I have not returned to S City for a long time and won’t be able to recognize the roads. You must tell Brother Xuecheng.”
Upon hearing this, Su Wan answered stoically, “Alright, I’ll inform him.”
“Thank you.”
Sheng An’ning did not sense Su Wan’s restlessness and anxiety. She only felt this a.s.sistant was too arrogant. However, no matter what, she was well-educated and softly said thank you in the end.
Su Wan pursed her lips after hearing ‘thank you’. She ended the call after replying, “You’re welcome”.
Su Wan frowned. Her eyes moved occasionally with obvious worries and hidden uncertainties.
She stared at the silver black mobile phone and slowly placed it down on the table. Then, she walked back to the couch as if nothing had happened.
When she opened the project paper of Beitong’s celebration banquet once again, not even a single word could enter Su Wan’s eyes.
Sheng An’ning’s sweet voice and her intimate address of Jiang Xuecheng kept echoing in her ears.
Su Wan touched her eyebrows and she kept sighing unconsciously. Jiang Xuecheng was outstanding and he had many admirers. Even if he was married and unavailable, he couldn’t avoid being coveted by others.
This girl called Sheng An’ning was just a little sister he grew up with.
After taking a few deep breaths, Su Wan felt her mind was in a whirl, making her restless.
Su Wan shut her eyes and gave herself a break. She feebly leaned against the couch and forced herself not to think.
Suddenly, a huge shadow covered her. Although she did not open her eyes, she could feel the light reducing.
Just when Su Wan wanted to turned her head, broad fingers pressed on her forehead, trying to wipe off the creases between her brows.
“Why are you frowning? It’s just an internal celebration banquet. Wan Wan, why is your capability of adapting yourself poorer than I’ve imagined?”
His tease entered her ears and Su Wan opened her eyes. She fixed her gaze at Jiang Xuecheng with an uneasy look.
This man was only twenty-seven years old but excelled in business and was now a powerful business tyc.o.o.n. Coupled with his natural good looks, it was no wonder many women went after him like a flock of ducks.
In reality, no woman could resist Jiang Xuecheng’s charm. She had only married him for a little more than a month and had fallen into his snares of love, sinking deeper.
“Xuecheng, you’re very good looking.”
Su Wan tilted her head up and touched Jiang Xuecheng’s eyes and brows but in the blink of an eye, her hand dropped and something seemed to be troubling her.
Jiang Xuecheng was taken aback. He sensed that Su Wan’s emotion was not right. “Wan Wan, what’s wrong?”
This was the first time Su Wan praised Jiang Xuecheng for his good looks but her tone of voice was worrying.
Jiang Xuecheng sat beside the couch and stretched his hands to hug Su Wan. Su Wan hid her face in the dip of his neck, trying to absorb some warmth from his hug.
“Do you really think girls who play the cello are cla.s.sy?”
Hearing this stupid question, Jiang Xuecheng frowned.
“What nonsense are you saying? I don’t even know when I’ve ever felt that girls who play the cello are cla.s.sy.”
Jiang Xuecheng thought over and over again and did not know why Su Wan was asking him this question.
After hearing this reply, a sense of surprise flashed across the bottom of her eyes and was very quickly replaced by a sense of disappointment.
It seemed like Sheng An’ning was crazier than she was. Jiang Xuecheng could not even remember that he had once uttered this sentence during a cla.s.sical music concert.
As a result, his words were unintentional but the listener took it seriously. This had become the motivation for Sheng An’ning to give up on the guqin and switch to learning the cello!
Su Wan gloomily raised her head and informed Jiang Xuecheng in an eccentric manner, “Your talented good little sister is coming back soon. She wants you to pick her up. Will you go?”
Jiang Xuecheng could neither cry nor laugh. He caressed Su Wan’s hair and felt she was quibbling frivolously today.
“Since when did I have a good little sister?”
Su Wan rolled her eyes and sulkily said her name. “The one who went to Dong Chen Country to pursue her celebrity dream—Sheng An’ning, right?”
It finally hit Jiang Xuecheng and he understood why Su Wan was in such a mood.
It seemed Su Wan cared too much about Sheng An’ning. The last time they were back in the Jiang family’s old house, she was jealous because of her too.
The thought of her being jealous because she cared for him made Jiang Xuecheng pleased.
He narrowed his eyes and smiled. “Wan Wan, I’ve said I don’t like her. Don’t use Sheng An’ning to wrong me.”
Looking at Jiang Xuecheng’s faint smile, Su Wan rolled her eyes.
“She called you Brother Xuecheng so intimately and said she dared not cut her waist-length hair because of you and went to learn the cello for your sake. Even if you don’t like her, can you guarantee she doesn’t like you?”
Su Wan’s voice started to be loud and sonorous, obviously irritated but toward the end, her voice was husky.
After hearing what she said, Jiang Xuecheng was stunned. He saw Su Wan’s grieved look and held her tighter.
“It’s her right to like me but I only know the person I love is you. What other people think has nothing to do with me.”
His voice was deep and extremely firm.
