The Inheritor

Chapter 54

His eyes were filled with surprise, he was the fastest among his roommates and his speed was something he took pride for.*SIGH*

"I can"t even defeat Big Bro Quinn in my strength" he felt miserable.

"Well, that"s what makes him the Boss. I can"t lose to anyone except Big Bro Quinn."

Soon he recovered and held heartfelt admiration for Quinn while resolving to work hard to improve.

Following Lardo, Boris came to the lake; his body was filled with bruises and scratches but his school uniform wasn"t damaged in any form. The uniform dress was a spirit cloth not only was it damage-proof, but it was also practically indestructible and it could even change its size depending on the user.

The Spirit Dress also prevents Lardo"s from turning into turning into a caveman with bits and pieces of dress every time he transforms into a tall blue freak from pudgy rice ball.

"What you guys made it before me? Big Bro Quinn who won the race??" Boris couldn"t believe Quinn and Lardo made it before him.

"No one joined the compet.i.tion, so no one wins but you lose."

Kallis"s contempt resounded from his from the rocks. Kallis slowly emerged from the rocks he was too tired and drained out, it was clear that his body was the weakest amongst his friends.

Quinn sighed after seeing all his friends without any injuries; though he was supportive of the plan it was still very risky as there were numerous unpredictable factors involved like the terrains, crabs etc.

Everyone shared their experience but there was no excitement they were all muddled and depressed. Throughout their journey, they couldn"t even find a single insect much less a crab.

It was too disheartening to return empty-handed even after hours of hard work. Quinn shook his head and explained everything he knew about the cave to them.

"Don"t feel down actually there were many crabs and nest holes on the way; it"s just that they are all carefully hidden in dark and dry areas. This Dark Crab Caves only has Crabs no other animals or life form can survive inside well except us. Moreover, our trip is to explore the caves; which is obviously successful."

"These crabs survive by feeding on these cave rocks and if a person or animal with cultivation enters the cave the harmony in the cave would be disrupted and this Qi-forbidden area would be destroyed and slowly disintegrate. So the school uses us a free to extract these pearls from the cave."

Quinn patiently explained about the caves to his friends while having their lunch prepared by their butler.

"Quinn is this data enough or should go for a few trips?"

[Boss, this should be enough but its still safer to have a set of videos for coping with contingencies.]

Quinn approval Elgar"s suggestion and without wasting a second he pa.s.sed it on to his friends.

"Okay guys you should have familiarized with the terrains let explore further; this time choose a different direction and travel 2 hours and return to the lake after that we could hunt for pearls within the rough perimeter we have explored so far. Tonight we must do our first kill for our dinner."

Good food after a trying labor is the most blissful thing in this world and Quinn and his friends were truly appreciating that blissful pleasure at Dark Star Caves.

After having lunch Quinn and his friends separated and ran towards different directions while recording their journey; it was rather an uneventful trip, nothing note-worthy happened during their second trip.

Not even a single crab peeped from any of the holes; it was like a dead zone devoid of any sort of life forms.

By evening everyone gathered near the lake since it was their second time they were more familiar with the cave thus this time everyone covered a greater distance.

Elgar was processing all the videos to form a map; though they none of them reached the end of this endless rock cave it was still a sizable data. Elgar used both the videos and the knowledge he gained through PI to form a rough map of the perimeter in consideration.

Then Elgar marked many places in the maps, he calculated the most probable places for nest hole using numerous complex estimations and info he got from the Unigux-Net. Though these markings weren"t accurate, it still squared the area reducing a lot of efforts spent in blind searching.

Quinn a.n.a.lyzed Elgar"s map and surprisingly found that the concentration of nest holes was increasing as they moved away from the lake. He couldn"t even find a single nest-hole in the map in the peripherals of the lake.

[It"s really strange, normally the Crabs will build their nest holes near the water bodies, but here it"s just the opposite. Either the lake must inhabit something terrific enough to scare away the army of crabs, creating a seemingly safe zone or your school must have placed some special formation to artificially arrange a hideout for their students.]

Even Elgar didn"t know what exactly was going on but the later theory seemed after; no school would dare to risk their students by sending them to the jaws of a terrifying beast hiding below the lake and its even more impossible for the school bigwigs to be ignorant about a sleepy monster under their bed.

"At least it should be fairly safe near the lake"

Quinn shook his and thru the issue to a corner of his mind.

"It"s already 6:00 pm and hunting the crab with amateurs will be really time to consume. Let"s see there is totally 5 crab nest within a mile from the lake,3 of them are too close to each other.

If these kids somehow screw up, then it will be absolute reversal "the hunter will be hunted". This leaves us with the nearest one and the farthest one" *mmm*

Quinn was weighing the pros and cons, but Elgar suddenly interfered his thought process.

[Boss, don"t put too much effort into choosing the nest hole; we only need to check out single Crab nest and after a.n.a.lyzing it I"ll get enough data on them to exactly locate Crab nests.

In fact, I can even formulate a rough equation for identifying Crab nest with pearls. It"s just that the Unigux-Net protects as a secret so I only formed a general understanding about the princ.i.p.als about the working. If I"ve full access to Unigux-Net then it would have been long done.]

Quinn was astounded learning Elgar"s wondrous abilities from preparing a map from literally nothing to the info about the Dark Star Caves.

"Okay then let"s take on the nearest one."

Then Quinn decided to hunt the nearest nest hole, he quickly marked the location in his school ring and pa.s.sed it on to his friends. They all accepted the proposal without hesitation, yes it was a proposal and not an order or command.

Quinn really treated them as his brothers; he never decided anything on their behalf. Despite the age factor, Quinn treated them as his equals and not as followers or subordinates.
