The Invincible Hero

Chapter 80

"You killed a Great Fiend? That"s impossible!" The Fiend responded.

"Why"s that?" Lorne asked.

"There"s no way a Great Fiend would come to such a low realm like this! Great Fiends have unbridled power! If they unleashed even the slightest amount of their true power they could easily destroy a galaxy in a low plane like this, and you claim to have killed a Great Fiend with your little bit of strength? Impossible!" The Fiend responded.

"I didn"t kill him by brute strength but by guile and wit!" Lorne responded.

"I don"t believe you!" said the Fiend.

"I don"t care, are you ready to move or should I move you?" asked Lorne.

In a secret location, a room field with monitors was being viewed by several Fiends. These fiends were the actual commanders of the operation.

"He claims to have killed a Great Fiend, what a boastful person!" A skinny short and young looking Fiend with vicious expressions glared at the monitor. He was dressed in a military style green and purple uniform.

A voice suddenly issued from behind him.

"Enough Rigol, whatever the truth is he knows about the Fiend Fate and he and the members of his sect are far stronger than the Fiends and traps we created for them."

A large bulky Fiend sitting in a thick stone throne glared at the screen. He looked like a King. He wore a purple cape with dark purple images of a kind of bird. His pants were dark green, and over his pants, he wore a white military robe.

Rigol bowed to the man fearfully and stopped talking.

"General Maek, should we send reinforcements to our Fiendish soldiers?" asked Rigol.

"Why waste energy? We underestimated these people so these soldiers are useless. Let them be slaughtered and experience the Fiend fate. Maybe someone from a lower realm could use them. If they are ever revived they"ll learn the importance of being useful," said General Maek.

"What should we do then?" asked Rigol.

"Let them enjoy the maze, send all of the useless Fiends into the maze to kill the cultivators and when these humans exit the maze will have some stronger soldiers waiting for them," said General Maek.

"Yes, sir, what level of soldiers should I requisition?" asked Rigol.

"Let"s give them a nice surprise. We have a gate open to the Fiend world so it shouldn"t be too hard to get a few thousand lesser Fiends," said General Maek with a sinister smile.

"Lesser Fiends?! Fiends of that level could potentially destroy this world, it would be like using an atom bomb to kill a flea!" Rigol said with fear.

Calling Lesser Fiends to this world could be a disaster. These creatures were far stronger than he was. The Fiend world didn"t have a division of realms like the non-Fiend worlds. There weren"t any lower and higher realms. However, to use their resources effectively, usually, Fiends were sent into the realms based on their levels.

Sometimes, however, a particularly vicious Fiend would send Fiends beyond the level of a realm just for the sake of watching an unfair slaughter. General Maek was famous for his viciousness. For him there was no such word as overkill, there was only kill. A tiger uses all of its might to even kill a rabbit, this was General Maek"s philosophy.

"If they end up destroying this world it"s fine. There are plenty of other worlds in this universe," said General Maek.

"And what about those of us who aren"t able to survive in s.p.a.ce?" asked Rigol nervously.

"I would suggest you find a way to make the lesser Fiends go easy on the planet." General Maek then let loose a loud and evil laugh. Rigol paled when he heard this as all of the blood in his face drained away.

However, Rigol wasn"t stupid and new he had no choice but to comply. Immediately, he went to work to make sure he got the soldiers the General desired.

After a few minutes, Rigol received a response from headquarters. His face became extremely grim. After reading the message, he marked the message as unread.

"Barto, come here," said Rigol.

"Sir!" A young looking human came over to Rigol. Barto was a human who went through the Fiend conversion. He was very clever and useful, so much so, Rigol made him his a.s.sistant.

"I"m leaving to take care of some things, I"m expecting a message from headquarters. This message is very important. Check for it in about five minutes. If it"s there, immediately take it to the General. He"s going to expect you to read it. No matter what it says, make sure you say it with all confidence.

The General doesn"t like people who are weak. I"m doing this for you, this is your chance to get some face time with the General. Grasp onto this chance with all of your might, and who knows what could happen to you!" Having said that, Rigol immediately left the command center.

"Yes, sir, I won"t forget this kindness and will make sure to grab hold of this opportunity!" Barto said heroically. Barto"s eyes were shining and his heart held a great deal of expectation.

Five minutes later, Barto checked for the message from the headquarters and found the expected communication. Without hesitation, he took the message and rushed to the general.

"General, a message from headquarters!" Barto said confidently.

General Maek was amused by this new recruit.

"Read it to me," the General said.

"Yes, sir," Barto responded.

"It reads:

To: General Frez Maek

From: General Karvo Lit

Regarding Deployment of Additional Troops

General Maek,

Your request for three thousand troops at the Lesser Fiend Level is ridiculous. We will deploy eight hundred. This is only because you seem too incompetent to conquer a little world in a low realm with the ample resources already allocated to you.

If you are unable to complete the mission with these troops we will send you to the Fiend Fate, find your Fiend Stone and I will personally consume it.

If you know what"s good for you then you"ll finish this mission soon, return my troops to me and disappear for a few hundred thousand years, because if I see you I"m going to chase you down and kill you. You useless excuse for a Fiend. If you think of running, you should already be aware I have captured your family and they will join you in whatever fate you find yourself in.

Understand?

All the best,

General Karvo Lit

The man who is going to eat your Fiend Stone

Everyone in the command center froze as they heard Barto confidently read a letter that should never be read in public. Quickly everyone found something important to do out of the General"s eyesight.

General Maek was taken back by the harsh letter. It figures Karvo would write a letter like this to him. Karvo probably still hated General Maek for eating the Fiend stone of his son and then sending him to the Fiend Fate where he sat in solitude for three million years. At the time, Karvo Lit was General Maek"s subordinate. However, Maek got himself killed on a mission and lay in his solitary existence for more than five hundred million years. When he came out, Karvo Lit became a General of higher standing than General Maek.

The more he thought about the deeper the fires of hatred and anger burned. However, General Maek did not explode. Anyone watch the General would have no idea what the General was saying. With a genteel smile, General Maek looked at Barto who was proudly standing to the side having completed his mission.

"Well, this kid is going to die for sure," he thought.

"Where is Rigol?" asked Maek.

"General, Commander Rigol lefter to attend to important matters. He entrusted the important mission of getting the letter to you to me!" Barto said proudly.

General Maek laughed suddenly. A look of madness and hate appeared in the General"s eyes, but he continued to smile at Barto.

"I like you kid, your name was Barto?" The General asked Barto cheerfully.

"Yes, sir, Barto Krave, sir!" Barto said proudly.

In a rare moment, General Maek got up and put his arm around Barto in an almost older brother kind of manner. General Maek dragged Barto along in a very friendly way.

"If I remember correctly, you"re one of newest converts and you"ve never experienced the Fiend Fate, correct?"

"Yes, sir, Barto said while smiling. He really had a good feeling about this General. It must be he did things right, well all he did was exactly as Commander Rigol advised him. He was really happy and felt deep grat.i.tude towards Commander Rigol.

"The Fiend Fate is a terrifying experience, you don"t reincarnate like the non-Fiends. Instead, you"re trapped in an eternal cycle of fighting, dying, and then spending countless epochs of time with nothing but your thoughts to keep you company while existing in a Fiend stone. If your Fiend stone is ever found then you can look forward to one of two fates. Either you are revived to become a soldier for whoever saved you from the Fiend Fate, or you"ll end up as food for some other Fiend who wants to advance his cultivation quickly by consuming your Fiend Stone. Does that sound like something to look forward to?" asked General Maek.

"No, sir, it doesn"t sound like something I would look forward to," Barto replied.

"None of us do, but as Fiends, it"s our reality. Don"t worry, you"re too young and green, no one would bother eating you, you"ll just have to sit in total darkness for who knows how long until you are revived by another Fiend," General Maek said.

"That"s a relief," Barto said while wiping his forehead.

General Maek was actually surprised at how thick this kid was. He didn"t seem to realize General Maek was explaining to him that he was about to be killed.

"I leave you with something to think about when you experience your Fiend Fate. Would someone like Commander Rigol really leave an important task like a communication from headquarters to a new convert? Haha, that Rigol is a wily one! He must not like you much to have you read the letter you just read to me so boldly in front of everyone," General Maek said with an increasingly vicious smile.

"What? Did he set me up? Why would he do that? Wait, sir, are you about to...!" Barto was suddenly startled when he finally realized what was going on.

"Yes, I"m going to kill you. It"s for your own good. There"s nothing like experience to wisen someone up." General Maek said.

Finishing his comments, General Maek immediately blasted Barto"s heart out. Barto"s body fell to the ground with a shocked look on his face.

"Someone, clean this up, and tell Rigol to come back, I"ve already vented. When those troops get here, I want to look at them. We are going to crush these cultivators, get some new recruits, and with the rewards from this mission I"ve going to go and see Karvo Lit and see who eats who"s Fiend Stone!" General Maek yelled in fury.
