Hyori then goes to prepare the five grain rice while I go fetch the kimchi and begin cleaning and seasoning the vegetables when Daesung and Yoona return. Not too long after the old man trio returns and Hyori obviously annoyed begins questioning them, "Where did you guys go?"
Su-ro, "You will be really sorry, once you know what we did"
Jongs.h.i.+n and Jaesuk then shot, "Yoona, It"s a surprise for you!"
"We brought meat!"
Hyuri then asks, "Wow where did you get it?"
"The headman of the neighboring village gave us some."
Once everyone has returned the real preparation begins.
One of the Perks of growing up by yourself is that you become really good at making your own food. You get a lot of practice. As such I begin taking over the kitchen duties and start my work as "head chef".
Firstly, After marinating the pork in a mixture of pepper paste, soy sauce and sugar for about 10 minutes. I start grilling some green onions and kimchi, thereafter I add the pork and stir fry the ingredients together topping it with sesame oil and sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds.
Once I"m done with that I let it rest and make my way over to Yoona, who is busy cutting the ingredients for the Doenjang Jjigae. I help her cut the tofu and zucchini into about 1-inch cubes. Then I instruct her to cut the radish into thin small squares. While I thinly slice the onion, peppers and meat.
Daesung wants to start the soybean stew by dissolving soybean paste in water but I stop him and have him go work on the mola.s.ses pastries, that is basically fried rice cake with mola.s.ses. No way someone can screw that up.
After preheating a small pot with a little bit of oil. I Sauté the meat, soybean paste, and chili pepper flakes. Then I add the water and stir well to dissolve the soy bean paste. Thereafter I add the diced up vegetables and throw in roughly broken scallion and a little vinegar with only a minute or two remaining,
As Hyori finishes the five grain rice. We begin setting up the table and have dinner.
Clearly impressed with my cooking, Jungkook is the first to state his praise, "Dylan! This is seriously good (referring to the stir fry) you can even sell it"
Daesung then responds, "Hyung, try the soybean stew! It"s even better"
Various reactions of "Waah" and "Wow" and "Delicious" begin around the dinner table.
After eating his fill, a fully satisfied Jaesuk then states, "Dylan, whoever marries you will really have a happy life"
I laugh and motion to the PD, "Please keep that in!"
We then wash up and begin making our way back to the field under the cover of nightfall. Where we are off to burn the moon shrine we had set up earlier.
"Since it"s a full moon, lets play with the catherine wheels" Jaesuk repeats the instructions of the PD.
It is a tradition where you burn the gra.s.s from the fields to kill pests and make fertilizer from the ash.
After twirling the lit catherine wheels for a bit, we each individually shout "Happy new year!" and throw it to the shrine letting it catch fire. All under the guidance and expertise of professionals obviously.
On New Year"s full moon, burning the moon shrine and saying wishes to avoid misfortune, is a traditional event.
Amazed at the sight of the tall flames, which are illumined by the full moon. Our jaws can"t help but drop and we can"t help but exclaim in astonishment.
As we all gaze at the moon, we each silently make a prayer.
"As the moon shrine burns higher. Hopefully this year"s harvest will be bountiful and our wishes will come true...."
The bamboo begins to release crackling sounds under the torture of the flames, which leads Jaesuk to explain, "The sound of the pops are supposed to be driving bad luck away."
"Oh really?" I can"t help but unconsciously blurt out.
Standing next to me, Hyori"s face is illumanted by the glow of the flame and says, "Its really pretty right?"
Looking at her dark eyes, that has parts filled with a golden reflection. I can"t stop myself, "Yeah really really pretty"
Not missing a beat, Jaesuk spots this and shouts "Hey Dyori! Stop flirting over there!"
"Dyori?" I question
Daesung then answer, "Dylan and Hyori. Dyori? What you think? I came up with it"
"If only you used your brain for good."
"Nooo, I"m going to be murdered by noonas fans" I protest
Hyori then slaps my shoulders, "As if! I can already see the comments. "What"s that ahjumma doing flirting with someone half her age""
Jaesuk then laughs and shouts, "Both of you, prepare for criticism!"
After the flame begins dying down and settling, Yoona and the crew begin setting up something.
Moments later we are all called to gather once more and told to get ready for Yoona"s special stage. Apparently she prepared something.
Music starts playing and I recognize the beat immediately.
"It"s so bright, my eyes are blinded No No No No No"
It"s GEE!
Yoona begins dancing along, who would have thought I"d get to see such a performance live. In a field next a flame. I can"t help but sing and dance along.
"I"m so surprised Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh"
"I"m shocked, my body"s trembling Gee Gee Gee Gee Gee"
"Sparkling eyes Oh Yeah Sweet scent Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah"
Just as I"m getting into it the music cuts and Hyori goes over to fetch a cap. This begins Yoona"s s.e.xy cover of Hyori"s song 10 minutes. Which causes the oppas" to lose their collective minds.
Her body moves seductively but I can"t help but think it"s a little out of place. Not to say she isn"t good it"s really good! really really good! She"s got the att.i.tude and everything,
It"s just not....... Hyori
Yes I"m biased what can you do?
"Before we begin the ranking battle, Dylan is there anything you prepared?"
"He asks as if, he has no idea about what i"m about to do"
"Actually......"
