The night is in full swing when Seungi Hyung and Hyo-joo noona finally decides to join us."Took you guys long enough!" I complain.
Seungi, pa.s.ses the blame onto someone else, "Hey its not my fault she (pointing towards Hyo-joo) kept messing up her lines"
"And who kept making me laugh with his idiotic face?" She immediately retorts
"Okay that"s enough guys! Let"s get going or we"ll never get there today" I put the matter to rest these two can bicker another time.
"I"ll bring my car round, you guys wait here." I tell the group of 3.
"You came with your car!? Nice! Designated driver is chosen" Seungi laughs in self satisfaction.
Hurrying to the parking lot, I jump in my car and make my way over to them not wasting a single second in fear of their annoyance.
I pull up next to them, and contrary to my expectations no-one is rus.h.i.+ng aboard away from the cold.
Seeing them not doing anything, I take action and roll down the electric windows.
"You guys not getting in?" I ask
Seungi"s eyesockets explode, "Dylan! This is your car?"
"Oh! So that"s the reason"
I guess it"s understandable, He was probably expecting something more modest. But that"s not my style. If you got it, flaunt it!
I nod my head, " Hop in already, I"m getting cold"
In case you are wondering what car I"m driving that"s created all this confusion. It"s an all back Maybach 57 s. It"s the ultrluxury brand car. It also costs a pretty penny. It"ll cost you around $397 000 dollars if you"d like to purchase one for yourself
Seungi hops into the s.p.a.cious backseat and cracks a unfunny joke about driving miss daisy with Hyo-joon joining him. Meanwhile Chae-won takes the side pa.s.senger seat next side pa.s.senger seat next to me.
With everyone aboard, we finally begin our journey to the private bar Seungi had recommended.
"Dylan, how did you get this? must of been a lot (he makes a circular gesture with his hand indicating money)"
I just laugh and avoid answering his question. Not really comfortable with speaking about my money. I mean, I seem like a p.r.i.c.k if I do.
Thankfully Hyo-joo hits him hard for asking such an insensitive question.
Asking for someone"s income is rude because it establishes a parameter for comparison between two persons. Fundamentally, people think, the greater the income, greater the value of that person.
Perhaps its not the question itself that"s rude, but the putting of someone in an uncomfortable position that is whats rude.
Arriving at this very Asian influenced styled bar in Chung-dam-dong. I park in a bay and follow Seungi as he leads us inside.
Making our way into the private booth, I"m genuinely surprised by the sheer size of the room. I was expecting something way more informal, given that based on precedent Seungi has always taken me to the shabbiest of places.
This is my exact expectation of how celebrities drink, the room is actually two-story tiered and wide enough to accompany more than just the 4 people, it has the square footage of a small apartment and even has an on suite, ensuring that one doesn"t have to leave the doors for anything.
There"s a big screen in the middle of the lower floor that is meant for karaoke, while the lounge setting is extremely luxurious.
After Seungi orders the first round of soju, beer and finger snacks. Whereas I order something non-alcoholic.
Once the drinks arrive, Hyo-joo and Him begin their holy mission. It"s the first time Chae-won has witnessed this and is surprised by both of their " manliness" . They are really quite the drinkers and the worse of braggarts when drunk.
Looking to me for guidance once, the "party" begins, I can"t help but shrug my shoulders and offer my sincerest condolences. I warned her to be prepared. And it"s better her than me.
A hour or so eventually pa.s.ses and she finally free"s herself from the two drinkers entrapment and joins me on the seating, where I have been nibbling on finger foods.
"Is it that tasty? You haven"t sung a single song" She asks
"It"s actually pretty good, Have a bite" I pick up a tapas and she tucks her hair behind her head and leans down as I feed her.
"What you think?" I ask
Talking with her mouth still full, she cutely answers" Ish wreally gwood"
Satisfied at her appearance, I then ask "And you, you don"t drink?"
She hasn"t touched a drop of alcohol all night.
"I do, but not really soju or beer. I prefer wine or champagne"
"What a fitting image" I can"t help but think.
"Let me fix that then" I pick up the telecom and order a bottle of Krug 47 for the table
Despite her protest I a.s.sure her its not much, ""Its not everyday one get"s to drink with celebrities"
Time flies and seeing Seungi and Hyo-joo are barely conscious, where oh where is the dignity of my sunbaes gone?
Chae-won encourages me that now would be a good time to go pay.
So I leave the room, making my way to the reception desk.
As I spot the waiter in the corner of the foyer and am about to call out to him, I overhear his talk with somebody in a suit.
The mysterious man looks somewhat familiar to me, but at the same time not at all.
"1 million won!?" the waiter asks
The man in the suit nods and hands him a bag with white powder
"All I have to do is put this in there drinks?"
"30 seconds is all it takes?"
Hold up! This is clearly something illegal. I need to call the cops!
"Room 101 , got it"
Just as I rush back to the room to get my phone, I look at the door number and realize
THIS IS ROOM 101?
