Five days later.Hannah visited Zain inside the prison room with her son.
"You want privacy, brother?" Adam inquired about to leave the room.
"No need. Just stay inside. I will just cuddle with my son for a few minutes," Zain said.
Adam shrugged his shoulders and mouthed an apology to Hannah.
She only smiled at Adam.
"How"s my son today?" Zain used his fingers to caress the baby"s face.
The infant reached for his father"s hand and began sucking it.
"Oh no baby, you can"t suck my finger, it"s dirty!" he said and withdraws his fingers. He beamed at his son lovingly feeling contented gazing into his bright eyes.
Zain spent the next hour bonding with his infant son. He was truly having a good time, his face lighted up.
Adam glances at his brother"s animated face. He was wondering when his brother will leave this place? He was hoping that it won"t be long "coz he was itching to see Jessy again. He also observed Hannah"s reaction while the father and son duo were enjoying their moments.
Poor Hannah!
Poor baby!
He said to himself.
Hopefully, one day, Zain can learn to love Hannah. They looked perfect together as one family and his nephew is an adorable baby that can melt anybody"s heart. But he can"t teach or influence how his brother should act, feel and decide. Everything has its own time and place, what matters the most was that he already took the first step of reconciliation and he was expecting a positive result out of his efforts and sacrifices.
It"s all now up to his brother Zain if he will remain stubborn to the very end. Based on his calculations two years is enough to save their sibling relationship, he was hoping his brother will see his effort and sincerity and do the right thing before he will rest his case and set aside all these things to be forgotten.
Adam shifted his attention to his game console and began playing ~Race To The Top~ a game that requires a challenger to climb the highest mountains using different gear and equipment, racing against time. The allotted time limit of every climb is two minutes then it will be game over. It"s one of his favorite games out of the five hundred games installed in the handheld portable game console.
Two hours later.
When Adam noticed that Hannah and his nephew was about to exit the room. "Hannah, can I hold my nephew for just a few minutes? Pretty please?" he said.
Hannah smiled and placed her son in Adam"s arms. "There you go..."
Adam beamed while gazing at his nephew"s angelic face. The infant looks healthy and his eyes shine brightly. Then the baby smiled when he saw his uncle smiling at him, his little mouth was producing cute sounds.
Adam nuzzled his nephew"s chubby thighs. "OMG! You"re so cute babyyyy..."
Ten minutes later.
Adam returned the baby to Hannah.
"I"m leaving now. Bye guys!" Hannah waved goodbye to the occupants of the room.
"Bye Hannah! Bye nephew!" Adam replied cheerfully. "Visit often!" he added.
Zain just stares at the wall in silence.
Adam sank into the mattress and resumed playing his game.
One hour later.
Abigail entered the room bringing the dishes for dinner and placed them in the table. "Brothers, time to eat your meals," she announced.
Adam ambled towards the table. "Thank you very much for bringing our meals, sister!"
"Happy to serve my brothers, but, I won"t be doing this forever," she joked.
"You should be eating with us, Abigail. Human dishes are appetizing and delicious," Zain said while sitting on the chair beside Adam.
"Mom doesn"t want to turn me into a human yet," Abigail responded. "Enjoy your meals, guys!"
The men turn their attention to the dishes and began eating in comfortable silence.
Abigail found it amusing to see her siblings eating their meals with gusto. Humans indeed had a voracious appet.i.te while vampires like her can only stick to one dish and that is the human blood.
Abigail sat down on the bed and power on her gadget to start playing games while her brothers were eating dinner.
One hour later.
Done eating, Adam placed the dirty dishes into the food tray.
Abigail opened the door and signaled for the guard to help her bring the food tray out of the room. "I will come back later!" she said while closing the door behind her.
Three hours later.
Abigail entered the prison room. "I"m back!" she cheerfully announced her presence and sat on the mattress beside her brother.
"Do you have other games brother?" Abigail asked.
Adam glanced at his sister"s face. "Why? Where is your game console?"
"It"s low in battery, need charging," she said giggling.
"What time did you sleep last night in your room?"
"At 2:00 in the morning because I"m addicted to playing games, there are simply too many to choose from," she answered.
Adam was shaking his head. "Don"t let game addiction makes a zombie out of you, sister, or else I will take away that game console that I gave you," he threatened her.
Abigail rolled her eyes. "Yes brother dear, I understand!"
Adam stood up and went to the cabinet where his clothes and stuff were kept. He took the cards from the pocket of his traveling bags and also two pens, colored black and red and went back to the mattress and placed the pen and the cards in the foam. "Here, let"s try this game card, it"s easy to play," he said.
Abigail raised her brows. "How to play this card?"
"The mechanic is simple. Each of us will lay our cards by two, which one has the higher numbers will win and if you got the lowest number you lose. The winner is allowed to mark the loser"s hands, arms feet or face with this pen marker. The games continue until there are no more cards left," he explained.
Abigail laughed excitedly. "Okay let"s start!" she said.
Adam shuffles the cards and divides the cards equally to the two of them until they have equal numbers of cards.
The game begins.
A few minutes later, Abigail was shrieking with laughter and Adam"s can"t contain his glee as their merriment echoed inside the room, their faces were now littered with marks by the pen. When the game was over, they stared at their faces with amus.e.m.e.nt illuminating their faces.
"That was fun!" Abigail said.
"Fun indeed! Do you want a Round 2?" Adam asked.
Abigail grinned. "h.e.l.l yeah!" she looked at her brother Zain and motioned him to come over. "Bro, please join us! This is super fun!" she said.
Zain doesn"t want to join at first, but when his gadget was already low in battery, he needs to recharge it, that"s when he decided to join his siblings" card game. "Okay, I will join you guys!" he said.
Zain rose from the bed and sank in the mattress and Adam reshuffle the cards again.
A few minutes later, the room was filled with their raucous laughter.
Five hours later.
Abigail finally decided she already had enough. "No more round 50!" she said, still giggling in enjoyment. She looked at her brother"s faces, all their exposed skin has pen marks as well, they all have pen marks on their skin, no one was exempted. "Bye for now. I"m going to take a bath and sleep. Dear brothers, let"s repeat this game tomorrow!" she said and exited the room.
Abigail went to the study room to report to her mother their daily activities.
The queen"s eyes winded upon seeing her daughter"s face which resembles that of a clown, and a child having fun with a pen marker. "OMG! What have you done to your face, arms, and legs, Abi!?"
Abigail broke into a peal of laughter. "Ah, this?" she looked at her arms and face adorned with pen marks. "Brother Zain, Adam and I played this hilarious card game and the loser will be punished with writings on his arms and face with a pen. It"s a super entertaining game, Mom. You and Father should play with us! Let"s make it a family bonding moment!" she demanded.
Queen Margaret smiled. Why not? It"s been a while, they should do some activities together as a family. Now that all her children were under one room, maybe it"s about time they will spend quality time together. Who knows it might help speed up the healing of Zain"s emotional and psychological well being.
"Okay, I will ask your father to join us tomorrow, probably after dinner," Queen Margaret said.
"Hooray! It"s gonna be fun! I"m looking forward to it," Abigail said. "Mom, I"m going now to my room to take a bath." Abigail exited the room.
Queen Margaret was left alone in the room, in her mind she was already planning how to convince her husband to join the silly games their children were playing. Maybe this could pave a way to heal the rift that the family has been going through for a long time.
