Once I stepped inside the house, I saw my parents waiting for me at the door."Where have you been?", my dad asked in an arousing anger tone.
"I was at Richard"s place", I made an apologetic look, "I hadn"t known that I would wake up there. Perhaps because of the fact he was immortal all his life, be didn"t take it as something important?", I asked while wondering.
"What?", my mom asked, "Look dear, we appreciate that you want to do this, but we are not like you. Your father and I cannot accept this the way you did".
"Oh come on! I finally have something interesting in my life and you want me to drop it and continue with the boring old one?!"
Anger rose inside me. My parents never stood at something so insignificant before. What happened now?
My father sighed helplessly and said," Fine. You can continue this. But if I find that you do something that will kill you, believe me, I will kill you myself before anyone does". So I was going to die if I seaked death whether I wanted it or not. However, how could my father know what would happen in the future? How could he know that I will be at the sh.o.r.e of death for many times?
I sighed in relief and thanked them, though I told them that I dumped school. I didn"t know how, but I evaded the shoe that was going straight into my face.
I slept like a dead man. I hadn"t realized how much the spells tired me. I woke up in the morning thanks to the pen that surprisingly floated from my desk and started to poke me. I didn"t want to leave my bed, it was the paradise that every person loved to stay in.
I wore my clothes and wrote a not to my parents, picked up my wand, and held the annoying pen.
In a flash, I was at The Mansion Of Night. I hurried to plaims were I saw Richard talking to a tall, thin man with blue eyes, he wore a blue coat, brown vest, white shirt, bow tie, dark brown trousers and brown boots. He held a leather suitcase. The man looked young, though I don"t think he was so. Tulip sat in her Ravenclaw Hogwarts uniform and slept there.
"Morning", I said to no one in specific. Tulip"s eyes snapped open.
"You are late", she noted.
"Yeah, and I could"ve stayed for extra two hours in bed. However, there was a pen that woke me up. I think it was doing this by someone else"s control". I looked at Richard who just shook his head. The man smiled.
"Meet Newt Scamander", Richard introduced us, " he will be teaching you how to care for magical creatures. Today"s cla.s.s will be for three hours. Enjoy!". And he disappeared.
I shook Newt"s hand and said, "I have heard of you in movies and books".
He smiled, "Oh, these stories. They always tell what happened in a twisted way".
"Yeah, Richard is always telling me that".
"Let me enter my case first, then we will start on your first creature, and we will discuss how to cure every one"s bites".
Did you ever see a man entering a bag? That was exactly what happened. A few minutes later and Newt emerged from his suitcase with an eagle. No. Wait. It had the body, hind legs, and tails of a horse, but the front legs, wings, and a head of a giant eagle, with cruel, steel-coloured beak and large, brilliantly orange eyes. The talons on its front legs were half a foot long and deadly-looking. Although it looked deadly and dangerous, it was a beautiful creature. It sent an eagle"s cry in the air.
"Can you two define what creature is this?", Newt asked while caressing its head.
"A hippogriff", the two of us said it at the same time.
"Yes, it is a hippogriff. Its name is Wingo. A hippogriff is one of the most beautiful creatures on Earth. But be warned, it can also be deadly if you offended them. Let"s sit and talk about hippogriffs and the proper way of caring for them".
We sat at a nearby table, while Newt continued his lecture about hippogriffs," Hippogriffs are carnivorous and are extremely dangerous until tamed, which should only be attempted by a trained witch or wizard. The diet of the Hippogriff consists mainly of insects, birds, and small mammals such as ferrets. They will sometimes paw at the ground for worms if no other food is readily available-".
" Gross", Tulip interrupted. I rolled my eyes.
"Yes Miss Karasu. Anyway, when breeding, Hippogriffs build nests on the ground, and lay only a single, fragile egg . The egg usually hatches in twenty-four hours. Infant Hippogriffs are capable of flight within a week, but it takes many months before they are strong enough to accompany their parents on long journeys". He continued his lecture for about an hour. I found this deeply interesting.
"Doesn"t a Hippogriff attacks whenever someone approaches it?", I asked.
"It indeed does", he said, "However, there is a proper etiquette that must be maintained to avoid danger. Hippogriffs are intensely proud creatures, and an individual must show proper respect by bowing to them, and waiting for them to bow in return before approaching. Eye contact should be maintained at all times, without even a single blink. The Hippogriff should be allowed to make the first move, as this is polite. If offended, it may attack. And believe me, its bite is too painful".
"When someone develops a strong relationship with a Hippogriff, will it protect the one?", Tulip asked.
"Yes. Although proud, Hippogriffs can also be fiercely loyal and protective of those who have earned their trust. Its beak is a lethal weapon for its enemies, and they helped to defeat many wars in history".
"Wow", I said, "How come you have a Hippogriff with you?".
"Actually, it lives here in the mansion. Wingo is one of the ancient Hippogriffs. It arrived here at the mansion thousand years ago, though no one knows how it came here. I only took it for a few days in order to fix its wing".
"Is it okay?", asked Tulip with deep concern.
"Yes. It is ready to fly. Would you like to try?"
We nodded in enthusiasm. We did as Newt told us to do. We stared at the eyes of the creature for some time and bowed. Fortunately, it bowed back and approached us. I caressed its warm feathers. I climbed up with Tulip behind me, though she didn"t touch me. Newt hit Wingo"s b.u.t.t and soared with us toward the sky. What a beautiful view! Wingo flew outside the forest and I saw a big castle in the distance.
"That"s Hogwarts", Tulip explained and I nodded. Wingo continued his journey while rapidly flipping his wings. I knew now why they called him Wingo, his speed was unimaginable.
We returned to the mansion where Newt was waiting for us.
"How was it?", he asked while smiling.
"Awesome!", I replied.
We fed the creature according to the instructions of the magizoologist. And with that, the cla.s.s ended.
