The atmosphere in the room hit rock bottom. Neither of the two spoke. Saksham was waiting for Rhytham"s answer and Rhytham was digesting what he heard from Saksham. He couldn"t believe in his ears when he heard the devil say "I want the world at my feet". Many things crossed his mind in a span of a few seconds. After some time, Rhytham took a deep breath as he adjusted his stirring emotions. His expression also became grave as he looked towards the devil sitting in front of him. He spoke slowly, "Lord, with all the powers you have, it shouldn"t be that difficult for you to achieve that goal yourself, right?"Saksham knew he would ask something like this. He replied in a matter of factly, "Of course I can. If I want, even your so-called G.o.ds would be begging for mercy in front of me. But for some reason, I cannot use my full powers in this world right now. So, I need to do it step-by-step again. And for that, I want you to do that for me."
Rhytham paid extra attention to some of his words. The devil in front of him said "this world" and also "I want you" instead of "I need you". There is a big difference in these 2 words. The first one means that the devil is giving him an order to do it for him. Although the devil does need help from him, he is not desperate. If he wants, he can even go to someone else with the same proposition and work with that person. At the same time, if the devil had used the latter words, the situation might have been different. That would have meant that the devil is desperate for help from someone. With the offer as attractive as the one given by the devil, Rhytham was sure that anyone would nod like a chick pecking on rice. And that is also why he can"t give up this opportunity.
Lastly, the thing that weighed in his heart was when the devil said "this world". Although Rhytham might have been illiterate, that doesn"t mean he was stupid. He thought to himself, "Did this devil come from some other world? Does this mean other worlds also exist? Why is he here? Why come to me."
Although all this was going on in his head, his mouth didn"t stop too. He asked cautiously, "Forgive me for asking this, but does the Lord wants to conquer the world with some thugs and guns?"
Saksham kept silent for a second before roaring, "FOOL! Do you think guns are omnipotent? Do you think it can kill everyone in this world? Foolish of you to think like that. This world is much more complicated than you think. On the level I am now, even if a star as big as the sun is hurled at me, I would still come out unscathed. And you say I want to conquer the world with guns and thugs."
Rhytham"s eyes widened as he heard Saksham roar. He licked his lips as he digested the unbelievable information. The devil in front of him had no reason to lie to him, so Rhytham can only think of this as the truth. But this truth was something he couldn"t accept immediately. Although what has been happening to him for the past 24 hours, all of it could be described as supernatural, he could still accept it to some degree. But if he was told that even a sun couldn"t kill the devil sitting in front of him, now that is something he couldn"t or you can say that he didn"t want to believe.
He once again took a deep breath to calm his raging emotions. Saksham sat at his position, looking at all this calmly. What he told Rhytham was half lie and half-truth. With the powers he has, when they grow, doing that might also be possible. No, he was SURE he could do that with his powers. But for now, that was not possible. He had to become more powerful, but the system was giving no hints about how to level up or how to upgrade his powers. And that was very frustrating for him.
Saksham sighed lightly as he raised his head to look at Rhytham once again. This time, Saksham said, "My plans are simple yet difficult to achieve. I have chosen you not because you have some kind of special thing. I chose you simply because you have no power, no money, and on the verge of dying too. I want to start from scratch so you are the perfect target for that. And it"s not like I will make work for nothing. So, tell me. Do you or do you not want to become a king?"
Rhytham heard this smiled bitterly. Everything the devil said was on point. He had no money or else he would have already cured his mother"s illness and married his beloved. He had no power either. If he had power, Akshat wouldn"t have sent 4 goons to kill him. The more he thought about it, the more depressed Rhytham became. He clenched his fist and bared his nails deep inside his flesh. Since he was small, he just had a sole wish to become a king. He wanted to lead people. He wanted to be a figure adored by the ma.s.ses. And to make that dream come true, he had done his best till now. He started from scratch and made a gang of his own. Did all he could to make his gang bigger and powerful. He had risked his life so many times so that the people of his gang don"t die. All that done but he was still a roadside goon for many. Nothing much changed over the years.
But now, an opportunity has presented itself in front of him. He doesn"t know what his future beholds for him, but what he did know was that if he gave up on this offer, he would regret for the rest of his life. He clenched his teeth and fell on his knees on the ground and said hoa.r.s.ely, "If Lord can make my dream come true, then I am willing to give my life for the cause of the Lord."
Saksham was stunned as he saw this. He realized that maybe choosing Rhytham over someone else might have been the best choice he has made. He laughed lightly as he said, "Welcome to the family."
