Stuffing the bunch of grilled squid into Ning Lichao’s hands, Ji Zhiyao sat on the stool to scroll Tieba and Weibo.
He had managed to fulfill his livestream duration in the morning and was currently in a state of being “relaxed with no responsibilities.”
Aside, Ning Lichao distributed the grilled squid to Yang Bing and Wen Heng while casually asking, “Old Ji, where did you go today?”
Yang Bing asked, “Couldn’t be that you went on a date right?”
Wen Heng did not speak and only stared right at Ji Zhiyao. His eyes were filled with the desire to know.
Ji Zhiyao looked up. “Went to visit one of my pals. What date? Eat your food!”
Ning Lichao chuckled, but not two chuckles later, he suddenly frowned. His tone was slightly hesitant. “I keep feeling like I’m forgetting something.”
Yang Bing said, “Now that you’ve mentioned it, I have that feeling too…”
Wen Heng lifted his head once more. “What’s today date?”
Ji Zhiyao was the only one who was using his phone, so he opened the calendar. “August 29th… Hold up, weren’t we supposed to go administrative office to collect items for military training?”
His head shot up, and he speechlessly looked at his three dazed roommates. “You guys forgot about it?”
Wen Heng replied. “Not just us, you too.”
“… *coughs*, I saw that the timing stated on the notice was to 7:30 PM, so we can still make it if we go now.” Ji Zhiyao kept his phone. “Let’s go.”
The remaining three people finished up the few mouthfuls of grilled squid on the wooden stick, threw rubbish into the trash bin, and walked out while wiping their mouths.
It was approximately a 20-minute walk from the dorm to the administrative office, and each of them scanned and unlocked a bicycle and rushed towards the office.
The sky was not completely dark, and the sunset painted the extended clouds into a magnificent violet, which looked extremely beautiful.
In their rush for time, they took a slightly narrower route. With two people a row, Ji Zhiyao and Wen Heng were in the front.
Just about ten minutes later, they saw the building that the administrative office was located in. They just had to turn the corner, and they could find a spot to park their bikes already. Ji Zhiyao tightened his right hand, holding onto the brakes, and then turned towards the left.
The result was that he heard a scream and almost fell off his bike.
Reason being, at this corner that was not too s.p.a.cious, a girl looking down and walking suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and Ji Zhiyao’s position just happened to be the one closer to the left in the first row.
All four of them stopped, and Ji Zhiyao steadied his bike. “Comrade, sorry, I didn’t notice that there was someone here. Are you okay?”
Although he had braked the moment he saw the person earlier, he could not be completely sure that the front tire did not sc.r.a.pe the girl and decided it was better to ask.
The girl who was almost hit hugged her arms and looked up. Judging by her expression, she was obviously still dazed and shocked. Her line of vision swept across the four people and stopped on Ji Zhiyao, who was the closest to her. Smiling apologetically, she said, “I’m fine, I was the one who wasn’t paying attention. My apologies.”
Ji Zhiyao confirmed once more. “Are you really not hurt?”
The girl fixed her gaze on him and shook her head. “Are you guys also freshmen going to the administrative office to collect your military training items? I just came from there and heard from the senior that they were leaving soon, so you guys should go quickly.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Ji Zhiyao lifted his legs and straddled the bike. Smiling warmly at her, he said, “Then we’ll go ahead.”
“Um.” The girl suddenly spoke up, causing Ji Zhiyao’s foot on the paddle to falter, and he looked up, slightly surprised. “What’s up?”
Could it be that she had been injured earlier but had not realized and only started to feel pain now?
Four pairs of eyes looked towards the girl at once, and her cheeks suddenly turned red.
“Perhaps, do you like Messi?’
