The Ogre's Food Box

Chapter 3 : the ogre listening to stories.

Chapter 3 : the ogre listening to stories.

In the stone chambers, many different kinds of animals reside. They range from wild deers to wild horses, to many others that live in the jungle, to other low leveled monsters like the crystal demon , green poisonous snakes , wild wolves. Of course the majority are humans . After all they have the largest population in the mainland and they are not that hard to capture.

Those who watched Golon enter the stone prison were afraid. Especially this little snake, her eyes were filled with hatred and despair. Golon felt weird when looking at her eyes, he didn’t understand that concept of hatred. Even when he killed those wild deers, their eyes had the same despair but no hatred.

The weak were killed, the strong relied on their flesh to continue on living. Whether it’s a lion, raptor, falcon, eagle or shark … any meat will do as long as they get to eat, as they are naturally hungry. To be able to live, this is what they have to do.

But why were these prays feeling hatred ? Golon shook his head and kept this flash of confusion in his heart. He went to the depths of the cave. It was like a maze, only Golon could really go that deep. If other ogres try, they would get lost. In those depths reside’s Golon secret…

There is a saying in the continent that goes like this: ” Every boy has three secrets “. Golon also has these secrets, and one of them is his food . In fact as long as his food meet a certain condition, they can escape the fate of being eaten. This condition is very simple: tell Golon a story or teach him to do one thing.

Golon is very fond of listening to stories, he has this habit probably caused by his father…

Since his mother raped his father, with that leading to the birth of Golon and Hakulily, the human father’s fate was not that of the other prays. He had the chance to become like the troll witch doctor, as a foreign tribal member, but Golon’s father “Dominique Cristia Tabliss Von Hugh”, seemed to not accept his new ident.i.ty as a foreign ogre. He stayed at the dark corner of his hut. You wouldn’t get a response from him by talking to him. If you u (u?? this is not facebook mr translator. -the editor-) give him food, he will only eat a little bit. Finally the witch doctor Haman made the conclusion: Dominique is insane.

Golon for a long time had interest in his mad father, he used to squat down and listen to what he has to say.

At first ,Golon couldn’t understand many things , like “I am a n.o.ble” , “I was framed ” , “Revenge” and many other words. His father repeated those words everyday and Golon would go and ask the most knowledgeable shaman and the old witch doctor. They gave Golon very limited answers . But as a starting point it was enough for the smart Golon to begin to understand what his father was saying …

He was mainly talking about his life! he talked about almost everything he remembered, from deliberately breaking his grandmother’s vase, to the butler who has grown from a boy to a man, going through the magic school nonsense and hunting in the outskirts of his town for criminals and going to a real battlefield .

From his birth , his family , his love to his boredom, he talked about everything… All Golon’s father life was mentioned within that nonsense he was saying all day, that would make for some great “short stories”.

Golon liked these stories, so he wanted more but unfortunately he has already listened to all his father had to tell him, and couldn’t find a more elsewhere, as the ogres living in here wouldn’t know any good one, even the ones who traveled a lot. Although the old troll had a few stories about the rise and fall of the troll empire Amani, the chronicles of the trolls and elves in the Agate forest. But after two or three months that too came to an end.

Finally Golon had an idea of where to find new stories. Yes, it was the “food” in the cave. Golon expected that they would know more than the ogres. After all, that’s where his father came from.

Whenever Golon was getting ready to cook, he would point at one of the prays and ask “do you know any stories?”.

Then if he didn’t like that story or if it’s an old one, he would butcher that creature (Yep writer, this is a great protagonist you have here -The editor-) then turn to the next one asking for the same thing.

Whether it’s an orthodox story or not, whether it’s the mainland history or a legendary fairytale, or just simple stuff most non ogres know, or even if it’s just some recipe or a magic tip, as long as it’s interesting enough, Golon will enjoy listening to it. With this, he started to gain knowledge about the mainland and he started to know the world that this little ogre couldn’t see inside of his ogre tribe and that made his life very interesting.
