The Reluctant Bride Book II

Chapter Sixty-Nine

Side Story

Fei Yan Niao gave Cheng Yi a listing of people to a.s.sa.s.sinate in another attempt to trigger Cheng Yi’s memories.

Fight?

Quan Zheng Hao wasn’t scared of Gu Jiao Wu. He thought Gu Jiao Wu was distracted when Gu Jiao Wu pulled Qiao Tan Yuan away from him so he aimed a punch at Gu Jiao Wu’s face. He didn’t expect Gu Jiao Wu would react so quickly, and punched his face.

‘Ah!’ Quan Zheng Hao cried out and fell on the ground.

By the time Quan Zheng Hao got off the ground, Gu Jiao Wu had dragged Qiao Tan Yuan to Gu Jiao Wu’s car. He touched his swollen face, it was bleeding. He was the Quan Household’s heir. Who did Gu Jiao Wu think he was to hit him? He vowed to take revenge on Gu Jiao Wu, and make Qiao Tan Yuan his woman.

Qiao Tan Yuan was shocked Gu Jiao Wu hit Quan Zheng Hao, because it was the first time she saw Gu Jiao Wu hit another person. Before she could decide who to help, Gu Jiao Wu had dragged her to his car and drove off.

Qiao Tan Yuan kicked the pa.s.senger door.

‘Gu Jiao Wu, let me out!’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Where are you taking me?’

Gu Jiao Wu was too angry to speak, and chose to silently drive.

‘What about my car?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

Qiao Tan Yuan’s car was unlocked. What if a thief broke into her car?

Qiao Tan Yuan was scared to see Gu Jiao Wu accelerated from sixty miles to one hundred miles per hour.

‘Gu Jiao Wu!’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘You’re speeding like a maniac. Stop the car!’

Qiao Tan Yuan held onto the door handle. She didn’t dare to jump out of the car while Gu Jiao Wu drove like he was in a car race. He swerved the car left and right to manoeuvre between the cars on the road.

Suddenly Gu Jiao Wu braked. If Qiao Tan Yuan wasn’t holding onto the door handle, she would have hit her head. She was about to curse Gu Jiao Wu, but he jumped out of the car, slammed his door shut and opened her door.

Qiao Tan Yuan recognised it was an apartment complex owned by Du Lei Xin. It was famous for the nightclub and… Jacuzzi spa hot tubs.

Qiao Tan Yuan didn’t get a chance to ask Gu Jiao Wu why he brought her to Du Lei Xin’s building, because he held her hand tightly, and dragged her inside.

The concierge greeted Gu Jiao Wu. Gu Jiao Wu nodded at the concierge, and took Qiao Tan Yuan straight to the elevator. Du Lei Xin gave him an apartment upstairs for his exclusive use.

‘Gu Jiao Wu, why are you being a maniac?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked. ‘Why did you take me here? Let go of me!’

Gu Jiao Wu pressed the floor level of his apartment, and the elevator shot up to his floor. Qiao Tan Yuan scratched his hand, but he didn’t let go of her.

‘Let go of me!’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

The elevator doors opened, and Gu Jiao Wu pulled Qiao Tan Yuan to his apartment. He opened the front door, and led them inside his apartment.

‘Gu Jiao Wu!’ Qiao Tan Yuan called.

Gu Jiao Wu slammed the front door shut, and locked the front door. He turned Qiao Tan Yuan around, pressed her back against the locked door and kissed her lips. He captured her hands, and his lips didn’t let go of her lips for her to tell him to release her.

The city lights twinkled under the dark sky outside while Gu Jiao Wu kissed Qiao Tan Yuan in the dark apartment. He didn’t need light to seek her tongue, and taste her sweet mouth.

A while later, Gu Jiao Wu let go of Qiao Tan Yuan’s lips for them to breathe.

‘Do you want to marry him?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

What? Qiao Tan Yuan was still dazed from Gu Jiao Wu’s kiss. She didn’t know what he meant.

‘Are you sure you want to marry a wimp who was knocked out after one punch?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

One punch? Qiao Tan Yuan finally remembered what happened before.

‘You… how could you be so irrational and hit someone?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

‘So what if I hit him?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

Qiao Tan Yuan would have walked out if the door behind her wasn’t locked. She doubted the man holding her was Gu Jiao Wu. The Gu Jiao Wu she knew didn’t brawl even if he was provoked.

‘Why did you behave like such a Neanderthal?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

‘Neanderthal?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
