"Ah, hi I am…""Annixon Bright. I know, child. Everyone on the ship knows. The first being in existence to ever kill, not wound, but kill a Kraken."
"Could you hold on for a second?"
Annixon took out his book, "Do you have something to write with?"
"Of course, child."
She went back and brought back a pencil for him.
He quickly asked the book, -What isn"t truly magical but still highly volatile? -
The book replied back, - The Gehenamm Blossom. Also known as the h.e.l.lfire Flower. In its native form, it"s an ever-burning flower that burns at the temperature equivalent to the sun"s surface. It required a special "flow art" to remove it from the ground. It is used as an extremely powerful catalyst in fire-based Rune enchantments. In its dried form, it is highly unstable. Almost as volatile as "gunpowder". The ingredient itself is considered very rare. -
Annixon tapped his chin a few times after he had read the pa.s.sage, "Miss Naitra. Could I indulge you for a moment?"
He studied Naitra for a bit. She was old. He didn"t know how elves aged, but it was safe to say that she was old even among the elves. Long grey-white hair. She was tall too longer than Annixon was. She wore a white elegant dress and carried an ornate branch with her. She had blue almost faded eye color...
She gives him a gracious nod, "Go ahead, child."
"I need three ingredients. Charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter."
Naitra narrowed her eyes in confusion, turning her head slightly, "That is an odd combination of ingredients."
Annixon slapped his own forehead, "Ah, I forgot. I never did ask. Are you an alchemist by any chance?"
"I thought that was apparent."
Annixon smiled, "Just making sure. I also have a bit of a heavy request. I need powdered Gehenamm blossom."
She raised an eyebrow at that request, "I know that you saved this ship, but that is still a rather tall order."
Annixon sighed, "How much do you need?"
"Nothing. I just wish to be present with whatever you are trying to do, because that is a really interesting ingredient you chose there."
"I can agree with that."
They gather all the ingredients that he requested and he quickly goes about making some gunpowder, "This is called gun powder. It is highly volatile."
"Sounds like some of my experiments."
"Yeah, the only difference is that this is supposed to be volatile. It needs just a spark to set it off."
"What is the point of creating something so dangerous?"
"Under the right circ.u.mstances it is a force to be reckoned with, that could potentially exceed any form of offensive magic."
He took a teaspoon"s worth and placed it on a plate. He took out his flint and steel and lit it. A spectacular flash occurred.
Both Naitra and Maania eye went wide in shock, "This…is…remarkable!"
Annixon took out his book once again and wrote –What is the recommended concentration for Black powder and the powdered Gehenamm Blossom? –
-Due to the volatile nature of both ingredients, it would be suggested to add a trace amount of powdered Gehenamm Blossom in a teaspoon"s worth of black powder. The two might react catastrophically if one exceeds a certain ratio. -
Annixon nodded his head. Of course, an unstable concoction mixing with each other would be a bad idea, but he needed to stretch the gunpowder somehow.
He puts his book away, and asked," Could I please have some Gehenamm Blossom?"
She nodded and took out a small vial of a red, orange-like powder. It was a lot less than he expected, but the concoction never really called for much, "Time to make another bit of history."
He placed a teaspoon"s worth of black powder in a small wooden bowl. He literally just tapped a few sprinkles of the powdered Gehenamm Blossom. Sparks went off followed by smoke. Annixon feared the worst. Luckily that was all that happened. He slowly mixed it together until he was satisfied.
Annixon took a deep breath, "Well here goes nothing. Either nothing will happen, or it will be spectacular."
He took out his flint and steel and lit the new concoction. That day Annixon regretted not adding more safety precautions. The new powder basically exploded sending everyone in a different direction. The table got destroyed and the wooden bowl was in send shrapnel everywhere. Luckily, n.o.body got majorly hurt, just a few scratches, b.u.mps and bruises.
Annixon was in shock. He was perhaps expecting a bit more powerful but that completely exceeded his expectations. A teaspoon"s worth in a contained blast would be as powerful as a detorb if not even more so. A teaspoon"s worth!

He quickly stood up and quickly checked on both Naitra and Maania. Maania slapped his hand away as Naitra graciously accepted it, "I am so sorry. I wasn"t expecting that level of force."
Naitra laughed, "No, child. You just created what could possibly be one of the most interesting concoctions I have ever had the pleasure to experience."
Annixon smiled in relief, as Naitra continued, "So what are you going to call this little abomination of yours?"
Annixon gave it some thought. The nickname for the flower was called "h.e.l.lfire Flower". Guess he will call it something basic like, "I will call it h.e.l.lfire powder. "
"Quite appropriate. So, why did you need to make something…like that?"
"I need it to defend the ship."
"From what child?"
Annixon sighed, "Hear my story and keep an open mind."
He told him about being from another world and the elven and the trouble he made with a lord, and that her daughter was on this ship. It was possible that they might attack. So he needed a remedy for that."
Annixon looked for signs of betrayal in her eyes, he was taking a huge risk after all, but what he saw took him by surprise. Anger, and a lot of it. More than he thought he would ever see in a living being, "Is that lord"s name perhaps Louis van der Hart?"
Naitra"s eyes glowed with power. Annixon nodded his head in confirmation, as she exclaimed, "That b.a.s.t.a.r.d took everything from me!"
