Annixon walked to Everard who was still on the ground, "I can heal you, but you have to admit defeat."He was in too much shock to really register Annixon comments. He looked at him and slowly came to his senses. His was never a fight to begin with, "I have to give you credit. You are stronger than you look."
He struggled to sit in an upright position, "Unfortunately, I will not submit. I have to much riding on this."
"So be it."
Annixon removed the script of the head and placed his finger on his forehead. Everard almost immediately collapsed, "Guess you lose. Now you will have to stick with the shame in any case."
There were murmurings from the other n.o.bles that proclaimed he cheated, "You people claim I cheated! Than send your best! The result will be the same every single time. Battle mages aren"t battle mages. They only know how to make use of magic better than the average person! I am a true battle mage. It"s time you n.o.bles learned the difference!"
The n.o.bles were up in arms about the statement as Kedrick tried to calm the flames. A man came out the crowds, "The man did not cheat! He used very unusual magic. If you n.o.bles cannot accept this then take it up with the emprorer."
The entire group went silent after that. Whoever this man was seemed to have a lot of influence. The man walked up to Annixon, "Where you from stranger?"
"No from here."
"I am well versed in foreign diplomacy, but I have never met you before. How came that is?"
"Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"
"Ah, my apologies. I am the representative of the emperor at this here Auction. I am Marquis Dupios Hiashgelt, head of the Haishgelt Family. And you?"
"Mister Annixon Bright, ex-military lieutenant."
"I"m confused. Mister Annixon?"
"Yes, I have no t.i.tle."
"Odd? Are you not a Battle mage?"
"I am not a recognised Battle mage by law."
"If you are born with the gift you are automatically given a t.i.tle. How odd that n.o.body has seen your talents for quite so long. It almost as if you came out of thin air, and your magic is most unusual."
"It"s called scripting."
"Can"t say I have heard magic by that name."
"Nor will you have. It is self-made, and one of a kind spell style. It is a spell style specifically invented to counter spells, and before you think its necromancy, it"s not. It requires a very deep understanding of the law of magic and the rules that govern it."
"Are you a scholar, then?"
"I have no t.i.tle, Lord Dupios."

"One that should be rectified, but that is a discussion for another time. I see that your lady friend wishes to speak with you."
Annixon nodded and turned towards Anastacia, "So, what"s our catch?"
"Not as much as you would have like. Not a lot of people made bets. I was only able to net a poultry sum of 4500 Ducats."
Annixon clicked his tongue, "Seems these people fear a bit of compet.i.tion, or they had no confidence in that man. Oh, well. The upside is, we made 4500 ducats. While not enough to start a war, it would still be enough to upgrade infrastructure."
Kedrick showed up behind them, "It"s time. The final guests has arrived. Time to start the auction."
He and Anastacia was escorted to their own private table where the rest of the girls were, as well as D"verg and little Karuli.
They were enjoying the meal on offer as D"verg spoke up, "Annixon, are you going to get anything?"
"In all honesty, anything they will probably have on offer are items we could procure ourselves."
Juliza spoke up, "It would probably be prudent to get a dragon heart if it is on offer."
"Again, one of the items we could probably procure ourselves. A dragon heart might be useful though."
Just as D"verg wanted to say something the Baron spoke up, "Dear n.o.ble men and woman. Today"s proceedings will be something to remember. We will start out…"
There were a bunch of things that was interesting, but most of them were relics of old. A dragon heart did indeed come up but in the end it sold for forty thousand Ducats, which was way too pricey for Annixon"s likes.
Then the first of the Blades came out still in its ornate scabbard, "This my dear friends is what tonight is all about. We all desire such a weapon. There were only fifteen of these weapons in existence, but today that changes."
He unsheathed the blade. A blue metallic Falchion. All old age weapons were all the same shape which made these weapons an immediate source of debate, "Ah, you are probably wondering why it"s in this shape. A visionary had somehow figured it out how to extract the metal from ore. Now there is but one Robium Falchion in existence! We start the bidding at 30 000 Ducats!"
The price immediately got out of hand. The first bet was a colossal 80 000. In the end the weapon sold for 250 000, way more than what was originally predicted. Even D"verg was gobsmacked.
Annixon smiled, "Well, that"s our war funds right there."
Naitra was in a tizzy, "Warfunds?! You only need about a hundred thousand for a war! This is double that, and done with one blade! There is three more to go! The money is going to be astronomical!"
The next Item which was a battle axe that sold for 320 000. A Rapier that sold for 180 000 and finally a Halberd that sold for 360 000 for a grand total of 1 110 000 Ducats. It blew their expectations out of the ball park. Even Kedrick was speechless. Dubois bought the battle axe himself for the Emperor.
After the event Dubois made his way towards Kedrick, "Baron Kedrick. You say these weapons were crafted by an gifted engineer. I a.s.sume you know who he or she is?"
"That I do Lord Dubois, but for safety reasons I am keeping him unknown."
"So, he is male at least. Could you arrange a private meeting for me and your Battle Mage?"
Kedrick raised his hands defensively, "I am sorry my lord. Unless he explicitly conveys his desires I cannot do it. Please understand my position on this."
Dubois raised an eyebrow in surprise, and smiled, "I see. Can"t say I am not disappointed, but on the other hand I am highly impressed. It seems he will make an excellent ally."
