Shaking her head, Liya said, "No, I won"t." As she knew, that even if she stayed in the town for a few more days and the town"s people repaired their gate and their walls, they would one day without a doubt return to the same situation that they were before Liya arrived – hiding in the town"s hall and waiting for their inevitable deaths.Frowning, the mayor said, "Why not?"
"Yeah, why not?!" One of the middle-aged men shouted out. Immediately after, the other, town"s people shouted out the same words in unison, "Yeah, why not?!"
"These people refused to leave their town, so even if I explained why the must leave, they won"t listen." "Because I am leaving and going to the capital. If you all want, you can come with me. I promise to escort you there safely."
The town"s people began murmuring between one another, and the mayor frowned even deeper before saying, "We are not leaving our town behind."
Shrugging her shoulders, Liya said, "That"s your decision to make, not mine." She turned her head to the left and to the right, looking around, searching for a certain fifteen-year-old werebeast girl. Not finding her, she moved her eyes back to the town"s mayor. "Where is Faiy?"
Slightly narrowing his eyes, the mayor said, "Why do you want my granddaughter?"
"Because I am going to take her with me."
Frowning even deeper than he already was, the mayor said, "You can"t take her."
Slightly narrowing her eyes, Liya said, "And why is that?"
Relaxing his face, the mayor said, "Because she doesn"t want to leave, of course."
Raising and crossing her arms, and slightly widening her eyes which returned them to normal, Liya said, "After what you did yesterday?" She lowered her arms to the sides of her body and shook her head. "I seriously doubt that. But, if for some reason, she still wants to stay, I will still take her with me, by force if I have to."
Frowning, the mayor said, "You can"t blame me for what happened yesterday, anyone would have done the same in my shoes. And like I said before, you can"t take her as she doesn"t want to leave. I won"t let you take her."
Frowning, Liya said, "Anyone would have done the same? I feel sorry for your children, mayor. You may not know this, but it is the responsibility of adults to protect the children. And you were the first one to run deep into the town"s hall while being the oldest one. It is clear that you value your life over anyone else"s. So why are you so concerned about Faiy, when you don"t give a d.a.m.n about her or anyone else? If she stays in this town, she will die before she is even twenty years old."
"You?!" The mayor shouted out and his body started shaking from pure rage and at that moment, footsteps sounded from inside the mayor"s house.
The town"s people, the mayor, Ryan and Liya, all looked at the door of the mayor"s house and their facial expressions returned to their normal ones. Out of that door walked out Faiy. She first walked up to Ryan and stroked his head with her right hand as she said, "Good morning, Ryan."
"*Woof!*"
Hearing Ryan"s response, Faiy nodded her head and moved her right hand away from his head, lowering her right arm to the side of her body. She turned her head away from Ryan and looked around, before moving her eyes across everyone present while saying, "Good morning, hero, uncles, aunties and gra—I mean mayor. What"s going on?"
"Faiy—" the mayor began saying in an angry voice and Faiy moved her eyes to him. "—tell this hero that you don"t want to leave the town."
Tilting her head in confusion, Faiy said, "Huh?"
"Faiy—" Liya began saying and Faiy moved her eyes to her. "—I am leaving the town and going to the capital, and you are coming with me."
"I told you that she is staying!" the mayor shouted in an enraged voice as he took a step forward.
"*Woof!* *Woof!* *Woof!*" Ryan barked angrily, and the mayor stopped in his tracks as his face paled and cold sweat poured down his back.
Turning her head to the mayor and then to Liya, Faiy said, "I can really come with you, hero?"
"Yes, you are coming with me, Faiy. Go pack what you need, we are leaving once you are done."
Nodding her head hastily, Faiy shouted out, "Okay, I will be right back!" She ran into the mayor"s house and a notification message flashed.
>Moving her eyes across all the town"s people, and the mayor, Liya said, "Now then, let me ask you lot again. Which one of you wants to actually live and will come with me?"
"No one will come with you!" The mayor bellowed, but then one of the middle-aged women said, "I will come with you, hero."
The mayor snapped his head back, but before he could say anything, the town"s people, one after another, started saying.
"Me too."
"I will join as well."
"I will come."
…
The last middle-aged woman out of the sixteen town"s people said, "I will come too."
Moving her eyes to the mayor, Liya said, "What about you?"
Lowering his head and looking at the ground, the mayor weakly nodded his head as he said, "I don"t have a choice, but to go."
A notification message flashed.
>>Moving her eyes across all the town"s people, and the mayor, Liya said, "With our group, it will take us around six days to reach the capital. With that said, go pack the food for ten days."
The town"s people looked around each other, confused as they didn"t understand why would they need food for ten days if they needed six days to reach the capital.
"Now!" Liya shouted out.
The town"s people hastily nodded their heads and quickly dispersed, running into their houses.
Turning her head to the mayor, Liya said, "Didn"t you hear me, old man?"
Frowning, the mayor said, "Even if you are a hero, you can"t order me around, a mayor."
Harumphing, Liya said, "Your town just got dispersed and the position that you tried so hard to keep by forcing the middle-aged men and women stay in your town is now gone. Go into your house, pack the food for ten days and return here. If you don"t have the food by the time everyone is back here, I will leave you behind."
"You wouldn"t dare!" The old man couldn"t help but shout out.
"Try me, old man."
Gulping down his saliva, the old man ran into his house and Liya was left alone with Ryan.
A few minutes pa.s.sed and Faiy emerged out of the mayor"s house with a huge bag on her back. She walked up to Liya. "Hero"
Turning her head to Faiy"s voice, Liya said, "You can call me Liya, Faiy."
Nodding her head, Faiy said, "Okay, he—I mean Liya." A moment later, she tilted her head questioningly. "How do you know my name?"

Nodding her head in understanding, Faiy said, "I see." She looked around. Where is everyone?"
"They are getting the food for our journey, once they arrive we will leave."
"Ah?!" Faiy couldn"t help but shout out from surprise before hastily saying, "Uncles, aunties and the mayor will leave the town?"
Nodding her head, Liya said, "Yes, they will."
"You are amazing, hero."
"Liya, call me Liya."
