Closing her inventory, Liya opened her skills, looking over the three skills that she just learnt.

"Increased pet, minion, follower and companion damage, good. Three skeletons that have one attribute point per level more or two attributes (if they have Charisma attribute as well) per level more than players with base cla.s.ses. I can see myself summoning and using them. But not always as it would be pain in the as* to resummon them every 30 seconds. And last but not least, a long ranged spell with cast time… I guess that I can use it to initiate fights—No, since I am considering on initiating fights with spells and since I will be receiving attribute points into Intellect, I should just use the stronger spell available."

Closing her skills, Liya opened her talents. She saw three black lines, the first one, to the left of her view, the second one in the middle of her view, and the third one, to the right of her view. These three lines went from left to right to up to left again to up again, and so on. On the three lines themselves, there were squares and each square had a number above it.

On the first line, there were unlocked squares with skills.

On the second line, there was only one unlocked square with a skill.

On the third line, there was also only one unlocked square with a skill.

And below the three black lines, Liya saw that she had five spendable skill points.

"I wanted to unlock – > but > is much better choice as it has higher range and is an instant cast… I should get them both, > to initiate fights and > to use during combat." Liya allocated one skill point into – > and one point into – >, unlocking them both. Another two talents got unlocked, one from each cla.s.s.

From the summoner – >

And from the necromancer – >

"It seems that if I allocated points into – >, then I will get a permanent pet like Ryan." Liya allocated two skill points into – >, unlocking it.

Closing her talents and the menu, Liya saw Faiy standing by one of the bookshelves with her head down, reading a purple, thin book which she held in her two hands. It was one of the books that Liya didn"t loot as she didn"t find it useful.

Faiy smiled and gently giggled. She mumbled something under her nose, raised her head and turned it in Liya"s direction. Their eyes met. "Liya!" shouting out, she ran up to her, extended the book and it was now just an inch away from Liya"s face.

Liya saw the t.i.tle of the book – > and she took a single step back as it was just too close to her face. She raised her right arm and took the book from Faiy"s hands. "This is?" she asked as she tilted her head questioningly.

"It"s a very old story that my father used to tell me every night."

Opening the book, on the first page, Liya saw an ill.u.s.tration of a man with a s.h.i.+eld and a sword.

"The book tells a story of a hero," Faiy said.

Flipping the page, Liya saw two more ill.u.s.trations. On the left page, there was an ill.u.s.tration of a goblin and on the right page was the ill.u.s.tration of the hero killing that goblin.

"It tells the story of a hero"s adventure. Would you like to hear it?"

Flipping the page, Liya saw another two ill.u.s.trations. On the left page, there was an ill.u.s.tration of a slime and on the right page was the ill.u.s.tration of the hero killing that slime. "There are only pictures and no text. This doesn"t even count as a picture book." Liya thought and shook her head as she closed the book and said, "No need, I can guess how the story goes. A very long time ago when good races were near extinction, a human hero rose, he killed the monsters and saved everyone, the end. Right?"

Faiy frowned and slowly nodded her head. "Yes…"

Extending the book to Faiy, Liya said, "Take it. You can have it."

A surprised expression replaced Faiy"s frowning one. "I can take it? Doesn"t this belong to someone?"

"The owners of this house are all dead—"

"Ah!?" Faiy couldn"t help but shout out from surprise, interrupting Liya"s words. "How—how do you know?"

"And there is something you need to know," Liya said immediately after Faiy interrupted her.

Faiy gulped down her saliva. "Know what?"

"We are ten years in the past."

"Huh?" Faiy said and tilted her head in confusion. "What do you mean by ten years in the past?"

"Remember that place where we were just moments before?"

"Yeah?" Faiy slowly nodded her head.

"Well, that place was the spirit realm, and originally the spirit queen had sent me into the future. That"s why I asked you those questions the first time we met."

Faiy nodded her head in understanding. "So the spirit queen had sent you, me and Ryan back into your original time?"

"That"s right. And since this is the world ten years before the world that you know—"

"Then my parents are still alive!" Faiy shouted out as loudly as she could and tears of happiness formed at the corner of her eyes, rolling down her beautiful cheeks.

Shaking her head, Liya said, "No, they are not. The five-year-old Faiy"s parents are alive, not yours."

Tears suddenly stopped rolling down Faiy"s beautiful cheeks as she got shocked by Liya"s words, but then she just smiled and nodded her head. "You are right, hero. Let"s make an adjustment to our deal, protect my town, my parents and the little me and I will become yours."

Raising the corners of her lips, smiling, Liya said, "Deal."
