....

A week pa.s.sed.

Sofony"s stats didn"t change much aside from her points growing to 766 from 324. The reason for the doubling of the figure was the numerous low-level side missions issued by the system.

After that eventful Wednesday, the system made that peeping plus recording task a daily one. The following days, she"d been regularly recording Felicity getting embraced by different people. The second day, Sofony saw the man was a freckled face one. The third day, Felicity was done by a shorty. As she recorded all of the blush-inducing scenes, she wondered if all the other people involved in the adult industry also felt air-headed like she did.

It was really strange. It made her heart and body feel strange.

The same Wednesday, she found out that the Felicity her friend Wendy was talking about was the same Felicity from the storage room. She remembered how fl.u.s.tered she was when Wendy introduced the person to her together with Felicity"s boyfriend Floyd.

That time, she had no choice but study that Floyd well. She knew the person because he was the popular playboy of their school. She couldn"t believe that the person might be her target of s.n.a.t.c.hing.

"This Floyd should be the first guy I saw with her. I wonder, is he aware that his girlfriend is so unfaithful behind his back, actually engaging in that with different men at the same place and time, at different days?"

She shook her head to erase the question in her mind. The answer would be scary, that"s for sure.

It was already six in the evening. She found a part-time job last week on a coffee shop five hundred steps away from their school"s gate and the pay was quite nice.

"Sofie, table seven! Here!"

Her colleague pa.s.sed her a tray. She wordlessly brought the ordered drinks to the said table and smiled at the person sitting there. "Your Americano, Sir. Thanks for your waiting. Do you ----- have other orders, Sir...?"

Her voice got smaller and smaller because while speaking, she gradually recognized the person sitting in front of her... His face could not be any more familiar to her. The person did not give her a glance, he just immediately reached out to his cup and brought it near his lips. The sharp edges of his suit cladding his obviously toned body was a contrast to his refined way of drinking his coffee.

"I-I must be dreaming."

Sofony hurriedly lowered down her face and said in a speed comparable to songs of a rapper. "Once again thank you for your patronage. Enjoy your coffee."

She immediately turned around and was about to run away with her head still bowed out. Unfortunately, the man already caught her arm even before she managed to take her first step.

His voice rang from behind, the cold tone made her s.h.i.+ver from fright.

"Sit down."

The next scene that happened was like sorcery of how the man forced her to take a seat opposite him.

She hugged the brown tray, her hands unsteady, her face very pale. She had been like that since tens of minutes ago. The picture was akin to a pitiful rabbit before a formidable and fearsome lion. The unease of the former and the comfort of the latter created a beautiful contrast.

The man"s lips curled up in amus.e.m.e.nt. He gently placed his cup of coffee on the wooden surface of the table. Then he opened his mouth to ask.

"How have you been?"

Sofony calmed herself down before she answered. "I-I"m doing okay." The voice was very small and soft. The system inside kept on clicking its imaginary tongue out of annoyance at its host"s timidity.

"I"m glad to hear that, Babe."

The last word mysteriously made her body jolt, as if it"s a pa.s.sword for a hypnotized individual. Her heart raced more. The endearment he used to address her that fateful night made her thoughts and feelings really complicated.

After a few minutes of silence, after internally debating for so long, Sofony lowered her head in front of the man. "I-I"m sorry for everything. P-please, forgive me. I... I won"t appear again in your life, just, just let me off."

The man quietly watched her say her apologies again and again. His gaze staring at her was also very complicated. He already knew every ins and outs of her life and he was perfectly aware of how weak this person"s heart was.

"The girl is very easily scared."

Another bout of silence came after her speech. The man didn"t reply. He just enjoyed coffee. Sofony couldn"t tell what was running in his mind so she tried to ask for a.s.sistance from the system. Unfortunately, the only thing the system knew was making her more agitated.

"If only I can escape right now." She thought while badly wanting to cry. At the same time, she could feel anger for the useless system in her heart.

The pa.s.sing of time was really nerve-wracking. Throughout this, she repeatedly prayed for her colleagues to save her, call her to serve snacks to other customers, but for some sort of reason or coincidence, no one bothered their table.

The tense atmosphere was making her crazy, her mind started thinking faster than usual. In the end, after a.n.a.lyzing and guessing about the man in front of her, the only conclusion she made was to come clean.

"Confess. Then ask for forgiveness again."

"The question is, how to explain the system thing? It"s the root of all our misunderstandings."

Her heart once again grew cold when the system warned her of its existence.

"I"m dead." Her eyes lost their l.u.s.ter.

Just when she was already killing herself from within, Gio spoke again, his eyes now directly meeting hers.

"You"re still a student, right?"

"Y-Yes," her immediate reply.

"How"s school? Is it fun?"

She actually didn"t know how to respond so she just said, "I-it"s okay for me..."

"Okay."He started nodding. "Sounds like you"re not at least bullied. Nowadays, especially at schools like yours, many students are finding superiority at bullying others. I saw today how weak your character is, fortunately by what you said, school is still okay."

"He knows where I study?" The question irked some tense chord in her nerves.

"I-I have some good friends who I always hang out with."

"Good." Gio flashed a mature smile at her before he added. "Are you still feeling uncomfortable in my presence?"

Sofony was momentarily dumbfounded. "I-I"m sorry."

He laughed. "Stop apologizing. If you have something to say, go ahead."

The man"s steady aura and bright eyes as he urged her to speak managed to calm her somewhat. It was a very strange feeling. The man before her was her first and the person she offered her chast.i.ty with. However, she greatly feared him, his ident.i.ty was surely ten thousand miles away from her humbleness. She wanted to never cross path with him. However, he suddenly appeared. And now, he wanted her to speak.

"What can I say?"

"Is it alright to speak?"

"I..." She began. "I am just a normal girl, just a bit unfortunate. My family"s circ.u.mstances are weird... I don"t know how to explain. Just please know that I don"t have any ulterior motive about you. Actually, I don"t really have any means nor right for that. I-I know me. Like what you said, my character is really weak, but... but that is why I know I can"t possibly bring you any harm. All I think about these days is to work and study hard, graduate..."

A "Ding" rang from somewhere.

She ignored the snide remarks and focused on the guy"s face. Gio gave the pale-faced girl a smile.

"You have a great aspiration, girl. Simple, but you know what your hands can reach, I think that"s cute."

He stared at his watch and thought they"ve been here for quite a long time. Maybe it"s time now to really get a place where they could talk alone.

He brought out his wallet and pulled up a paper bill that he left half-revealed under the now empty coffee cup. Sofony who was staring at his action subconsciously rose from her seat and reached out for the money. "Ah, p-please wait. I"ll bring your payment to the counter and get your change."

"Stop. Follow me."

He put both his hands at work, one s.n.a.t.c.hing the tray from her. He put it down the table. The other hand intercepted her hand that was reaching out for the paper bill. Afterward, he immediately pulled her out, not caring about her protests and cries.

"Wait! What are you doing!? I-I"m at work!"

The man was thinking though, "My place is far... Where should we go?"

"Boss, Sofy was kidnapped." One spectating waiter informed the manager manning the counter.

The bald but neat looking middle-aged man responded after shaking his s.h.i.+ning head to the waiter. "Wrong, boy. Sofy was kidnapped by the Boss. Our coffee shop"s real Boss."

"Oh." It seemed the waiter was not aware.

The bald manager gave him a glare and roared, "Get back to work."

"Ah, okay."
