Following her husband, Zylvia felt rather nervous. He seemed agitated, and she was worried that he might not be as comfortable with her anymore."Are you mad at me?" Zylvia finally couldn"t stand the silence.
He glanced at her, "Mad, why would I be mad? You didn"t do anything wrong."
"But-"
"You made a miscalculation, that"s all. It happens." His voice had a stern edge to it, a tone he hardly ever took with her. She realized he wanted her to drop it.
She lowered her head. Sure, she had miscalculated, but that miscalculation had drastic consequences.
Zylvia was surprised when she realized that Kaldrek had been heading for their bedroom. As well as confused. It wasn"t that late.
She watched as her husband cleared off his desk and put the broken stone on it. He also put an old beat up looking journal next to it.
Zylvia couldn"t help but wonder why she was here. Was this her punishment for her mistake? Making her watch as he fixed it?
After finishing what he had been doing, Kaldrek walked over to her and took her into his arms. She was surprised and comforted by this action. He lowered his head and gave her a light peck on the lips.
She gazed up at her husband. The fact that he was acting this way came as a huge comfort, making her feel as if he really didn"t blame her for what had happened.
"Zylv, I need to work, so I can"t really focus on you." Her husband pressed a kiss on her forehead, "But I can hold you on my lap while I am working, if you"d like."
She really did need to be close to him right now, as she was feeling highly insecure - more so than usual. She gave him a nod, not trusting herself to speak.
When she felt him lift her up, she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face into his chest. As he settled her onto his lap, she snuggled close to him. She hoped that she wasn"t in his way.
A smile lifted her lips when she realized that Kaldrek was murmuring to himself. Even without looking, she knew he was flipping through the journal as she could hear the pages rustle. She couldn"t understand half of the words coming out of his mouth but she didn"t care. Just hearing his voice made her feel content.
She felt bad that he was putting in so much effort too comfort her. After all, under the circ.u.mstances, it should be her putting in effort. Still, she found it sweet of him and was thankful that he was so considerate.
She wondered how to show him how much she appreciated it. Words weren"t, couldn"t, be enough. She wanted to spend the rest of her life making this man aware of just how much she loved him.
Zylvia snuggled deeper into her husband"s arms. It felt rather nice to be like this. Even if his focus wasn"t on her, every now and then his hand would rub her back gently.
She peeked up at her husband"s face. He was concentrating on his research. Zylvia scrutinized him closely. She but her lip, it had probably not been a good idea to peek at him. Now she really wanted to kiss him. However, he was in the middle of work and she couldn"t just distract him.
She watched as a small smile lifted his lips as he leaned back and looked down at her. "Zylv, save enchanting me for later, alright?"
A blush creeped up here face. She had no idea how to answer him, nor did she completely understand. So she just gave him a wordless nod and reburied her face against him.
She let herself doze in his arms. She didn"t know how long it had been before Kaldrek woke her up. "Zylv, let"s go eat supper, okay."
"How is it going?" She glanced at his desk as she stood up.
"I finished the research phase. I"ll probably try to get started on actually fixing it later tonight."
"I see. Don"t overdo it though, okay?"
"Alright." He suddenly leaned over and kissed her. "Thank you."
She was a trifle confused by him thanking her. Before she could ask though, he was pulling her toward the door. The whole time they were walking, his arm was around her waist.
