The Tiger Within

Chapter 187

The Phoenix Falls.

The waterfall glittered in the sunset light. Like fire danced over its surface, the soft crashing noise but the background now to the symphony of the forest. The woman who had collapsed at its edge hours before, still sat quietly staring into its depths. She was no longer crying, her eyes were simply quiet. The tear trails on her face now dry as she stared into the water.

A gentle hand came to rest on her shoulder. Delicate and dainty, Kyera sensed her presence. Daxin watches rather shocked to see her here. The woman who left so long ago made his blood boil.

"Ky what is wrong, My Dear?" Akira asked and Kyera didn"t move. She was still as a statue staring at the water. All she could think about was the life she had dreamed of going back to.

The little house filled with blood should have became a home again. They wanted to clean it up and raise their family there with the spirits of her brothers. At least four or five children, and dinner with their friends. Talis would have been invited over every night to play with the kids. Kyera couldn"t believe how much that b.l.o.o.d.y net had taken. If he hadn"t been aloneā€¦

"Akira!" growled Daxin as he approached her there. He was in human form and fire in his eyes. The shadows wrapped around him like a tunic in the clearing.

"Daxin. I wondered who had come and caused such a ruckus." Akira replied a little surprised to see such anger in his expression.

"Do not Daxin me. You have no right to, woman. You certainly don"t have a right to poke a grieving child." Daxin continued stalking forward. His hair stood on end as he looked her over. His long grey main caught by the power swirling around him.

"I have to atone to her, not you Daxin. You have no right to lecture me about being a mother!" she growls back turning on him. He growled back claws extending as the pair circled one another.

"Oh yea? Then who does? I can only think of twice more that Kyera has been in this state. Both of them were YOUR fault woman." he replied spitting the words at her. Akira"s lip raised in disgust showing the off a row of pearly teeth. Her k9s standing out like fangs.

"What do you know! You dog, You don"t know anything about me!" Akira roared back at him. She was met with a barking laugh.

"I knew all I needed to know when I held a 7 year old little girl and tried to tell her that you still loved her! That you didn"t leave her by choice." he snarled back. "look at you now. Beautiful as a queen, reeking of humans and soft in your old age!" he added. Fire fed his eyes turning those dark circles crimson. He wanted blood, but so did she.

She took the first swipe. Within seconds the pair had launched at one another like animals. Roaring, snarling and helping as they bit and clawed at one another.

"Enough." her voice was too soft to hear. "ENOUGH" she finally roared at them both. She turned grabbing both by the hair and tossing them away before standing between them.

There was a ice in the air, freezing both rampant tempers. Daxin looked up at the little girl from where he had fell on his back. Kyera wiped the tears from her eyes again and looked between them both. The anger and and disappointment made both the old ones look away.

"Behaving like children." she whispered before turning back to the water. Kyera put both arms above her head and dove into the water. She had no intention of arguing with either of them, nor did she want to bury them. One heart break was enough at a time.

Instead the younger woman, focused on cleaning her face. Rinsing the tears and dirt from her skin. The shadow cloth danced in the water, trying to lift her spirits. She tried to smile but it hurt. Actually, everything hurt. Crying could do that to you, she supposed.
