"Prince Bryson, control your dragons." Spat Bastil loudly seemingly enraged by the Storm Twins wordless threat. Bryson glared at him."I am afraid you are offending a bear you can"t survive the fight with. MY t.i.tle is Lord Bryson and these dragons are not mine to control." Bryson growled, his dark eyes burning with fire as he openly challenged Bastil. Though Bastil was formidable he was smaller, and less skilled than a hardened warrior like Bryson. If the older man shifted shape… there would be no survivors.
"Then whose are the beasts?" Demanded the Emperor as he saw the flames beginning to build. The Storm twins growing in anger by the second. Thunder growled across the sky as the wind increased its ferocity as if threatening to unleash havoc on the earth. The sky quickly became dark. Even the two frost dragons seemed uneasy, laying belly to the ground heads bowed so not to challenge the twins.
Kyera glanced up at the dragons. Both of them having moved to her side. Suddenly, fragile, pregnant Kyera looked like… the matron G.o.ddess. A beauty beyond compare and backed by the dragons of the sky. Empress Vivian knew then they had looked to the wrong woman, and Kira wished she could swallow her words.
"Ember, Ivory you"re making the sky a danger to the baby." Kyera spoke gently but reproachfully as the dragons broke their eyes away from Kira and down at Kyera. Ivory lowered her head and nuzzled Kyera tenderly in apology as the wind came to a calm breeze. The clouds lingered, but the thunder no longer shook the earth.
"Sorry, Mistress. How could these creatures refer to the young Master or Mistress so fouly. They are no family of our Mistress." Ember"s smooth dark voice was angry, and his s sounds slurred like a hiss. His sister glared at Kira while Kyera pet Ember"s neck.
"Unimportant people spouting ignorant taunts are none of our concern." Kyera reminded them gently, and Damar"s eyes furrowed. He remembered a similar statement made to him not long ago.
"How dare you." Bastil growled at her in anger. However, the fiery puff of hot air and low thunderous growl quickly silenced his string of insults that should have followed. It was clear the Storm Twins would not tolerate much else being done toward their precious Mistress.
"How dare she? She called Kyera"s baby a b.a.s.t.a.r.d. Her son offended Lord Bryson, and her daughter in law lied to the royal family. How Dare She?" Everyone stared at the woman who spoke. It it had come from Kyera, or even Crystalsa everyone would have understood. Lilia was known for such outbursts, but it was Melania"s polite but cold voice that silenced him.
"Melania…" Fey growled lightly, trying to remind her daughter in law of her place but the girl glared at her.
"No, I am done holding my tongue while the first Queen"s family lies to get their way. If you wish to stay silent and be complacent that is your choice, Mother. Enough is enough." Melania replies quietly, her voice is polite but firm. Nothing she said was out of place, but she knew her husband would have something to say about it.
"Bastil, it seems Melania is not feeling like herself." Fey spoke clearly and quietly to her son. However, his eyes were drawn to the fire in Melania"s eyes.
Kyera and Clovid looked at each other, and chose to let them do as they wished. Afterall, he had a plan and she could see it in his eyes.
"Mother, I believe for once in her life, Melania feels exactly like herself." Damar replied offering her a gentle smile. "I for one would like to ask Empress Vivian go hear my wife out before bestowing punishment. If it is to be my wife in the wrong, I will bear her lashings." He replied coolly before looking at his grandmother.
Suddenly, Empress Vivian found herself the center of attention once again. She cleared her throat. "We should let the servants take the meat to he prepared and keep the pelts in their chests. We can speak in the throne room." Empress Vivian replied trying to put some distance between her family and the two hair trigger dragons before someone got them all killed.
